I'm starting to wonder if Haywood wasn't sent to the Mavs by the powers that be just so that all the misguided Damp haters of years past can see what a contract whore actually looks like.
But I digress, because this was much too good a win (way to call it jthig) to waste the celebration on contention over an ex-Mav.
Good stuff from a lot of guys tonight, so I'll just say: 1) Huge bounce-back game from Kidd, 2) JET (the irrepressible optimist) clearly hearts Dirk, if his play since Dirk returned is any indication, and 3) If I'm Cuban I'm considering giving Sasha a contract for the rest of the year just on principle.

Pretty funny.
BTW, I agree with whoever above said we still need a trade. Might have been Cad. We need some sort of production, even if it's not a lot, from Butler's roster spot. Just gotta have it, IMO.

Twas me. I just hope Cuban doesn't buy into fool's gold, thinking, hey, we looked good tonight...if Roddy comes back healthy...
I honestly believe we could make a real run if we get Jax/Crash/Iggy/Kmart/Melo and Roddy is the real deal. Without a trade, I doubt we get out of the 1st round without a favorable matchup.

Hell, even Rip or Harrington would give us a fighting chance...
(but I like those other names better, since they clearly make us a contender)

Really nice job by RC to put sasha in as the 3 out there. He again manufactured a bench. He also limited marions minutes and made him the junk player he needs to be.
Sasha/Steve helped them get to the ending 5. Good job carlisle.

Barea played under duress as he had to travel back to Dallas from Puerto Rico to attend a family funeral. He arrived back in Dallas around 3 pm.

Oooh, no beachvolleyball pics, today? What a disappointment...
It seems, Chandler makes the difference. Great that we have him.

It's only one game, but BIG WIN.
Sorry Caron we can't wait, because without trade I don't see this team in 2nd round.

JJB
The Good: has rediscovered his three point shot 11 for his last 18
The Bad: Has 1 assist in 2 of his last 3 games
The Ugly: During his 11 for 18 three point shooting, he is also shooting 20 of 54 from 2 point range (37%)
1 Last thing: In JJB last 127 minutes (last 6 games he has entered) he has only shot 2 free throws. That is beyond pathetic for a guy who can get to the rim like he can

Pretty amazing. I think everyone expected another 20 point blowout.... at best. Instead the Mavs basically ran the Lakers out of the gym... and did it even though Dirk clearly isn't still right. The guy can't be at more than 80%. Before the game he told ESPN he was 100%, but no way is that even remotely true. Has there been any word on whether this is a lingering thing or what?
God I want to believe this is the real Mavs.
Sasha whatsit really is a solid player. He's been at least OK every time he's gone out and tonight he was flat out good. He even took a few turns defending Kobe and did a really solid job. Not as good as Marion and especially Stevenson. Man if only Stevenson could rediscover his scoring touch... Marion was really good on Kobe but STevenson just completely shut the guy down. But you can only play him so much when he's just not scoring at all and right now he's playing like Stevenson from last season.

All NBA players are contract whores, and they should be. No reason to hate on that. I don't think either Damp or Haywood intentionally suck because they got paid. Haywood is butt hurt because he doesn't start, and Damp just didn't have the talent to be Dirk and Terry's backstop. Praise Jesus for Tyson Chandler.

Good D against Kobe, he went 10/18 because of those 3-4 ones where no one defended him...
Stevenson needs to come back with his 3´s, or it was a good run he had.

The start of the 4th was such a typical Barea. Two absolutly horrible possessions ending in TOs because he couldnt deliver the ball into sweet spots. Getting killed at the other end of the court. Then 2-3 nice baskets but between again possessions where he killed almost the entire shotclock dribbling and trying to penetrate just to pass it to Dirk or Terry in a horrible position with a few seconds left..

Well, that is because he has no reputation whatsoever (or one as a flopper). You see it playing defense, he gets pushed all the time and if he doesnt do his semi-flopping/acting they would never call a foul...

This win was great for the team because Dirk outside of his 3pt play to stop the mini rally in the 4th was ineffective. He was being abused by Gasol (he usually matches up well against him) and Odom. It was really the Kidd, Terry, Marion, and Sasha show.
Did you notice:
1. I don't think Kobe score more than 4pts when Deshawn was guarding him. It is a shame Stevenson shot has disappeared.
2. You saw the nervousness on the Mavs face at the start of the game, and the anxiety when the Lakers got off towards the end of the 1st quarter.
3. Dirk only tried one one-legged fadaway during the game. All of his points came on driving or face-ups.
4. Not saying he had anything to do with it, but Haywood was actually the center when the Mavs made their comebacks in the 2nd and 3rd quarter.
6. Those two shots he took were Ajinca worthy.
7. Flu-like symptoms is the polite way of saying diarrhea and/or nauseous.
8. I wish Terry would shut up. His disappearance has been one of the main issues in the losing streak.
9. The AAC crowd sucks so bad. To the lack of passion and noise, it just sucks so bad. Your team has endured one of its worst stretches in over a decade and they start filing to exits with 3 minutes to play. Stay to the very end and give this team a standing ovation before they go on another road trip. Three minutes ain't gonna hurt nobody.
This was a great win and a lot of you guys called for the win on here and db.com. I thought they were destined to lose because it was a home game.

On the local broadcast Ortegal mentioned that was one the best crowds in the AAC all year....I don't know if that was a good thing or bad considering from my TV it seems not so loud at all

Another observation
1. I heard none of that artificial noise and chants from the PA announcer.

I was reading over at BGs site from someone who went to their first mavs game. He also was railing that the cheering stopped when a timeout occurred!! OMG...
These are folks who are there every game, year after year after year, supporting this team. You'll have to excuse them if they don't want to yell and scream continuously for 3 hours 50+ times a year.
It was a good crowd last night...

Good for you...There are plenty of mavs fans who never leave no matter the score. They even stay and give them an ovation when they lose.
Also plenty of mavs fans wait until the teams has existed the tunnel before they leave.
Are you telling me that in Philadelphia where they average 13,000 fans in a 20,000 seat arena that everyone stays?
