Default Play by play of Dirk's HUGE plays down the stretch.

Rewatching the game off a beautiful HD torrent.

7:35 - Dirk takes a pass from Barea and wants to send it to Terry cross court for a 3. Unfortunately with Gasol and Bynum in his face he can't make the pass. Dirk says 'F it' and hoists an 18 footer with Gasol's hand right in his face. SWISH. LA 79 Dallas 73

6:57 - After a bucket by the Lakers they're back up 8. Barea wants to dump the ball to Dirk but Barea's man goes after the pass, creating a huge lane for Barea. Dirk sees this instantly and taps the ball in midair back to Barea, who drives a gaping lane for an easy laup. LA 81 Dallas 75

6:40 - Lakers miss a three-pointer. Dirk gets perfect position, boxes out Gasol for the rebound. LA 81 Dallas 75

4:57 - Lakers are back up 7 and Dallas needs a bucket bad. Dirk sneaks his way to the three-point line, Lakers make a mistake and Dirk nails an easy three pointer. LA 85 Dallas 81

4:05 - Dirk is iso'd against Gasol and Dallas needs a stop bad, down 6. Dirk locks onto Gasol's hip and stands his ground. Gasol loses the ball because of the pressure and is forced to take a very poor shot that misses with the clock winding down. Great D by Dirk. LA 87 Dallas 81

3:57 - The pivotal play. Dirk calls for the ball in the corner immediately and backs down Gasol. He makes a move for the basket and EVERYONE in the AAC thinks he is going to the hoop. At the last second with purple swarming him he fires a pass to Peja who drains a HUGE three. Perfect pass. I don't think Dirk even looked at Peja before he threw the pass, either. LA 87 Dallas 84

2:45 Mavs are down one and Dirk wants the ball again. He drives on Gasol and draws a foul, sinks both free throws and Dallas has the lead. Dallas 88 LA 87

2:20 Mavs are down one again. Dirk and Kidd are trying to play a two-man game at the top of the key but it's not working. Dirk is swarmed so he dumps it to Kidd, who is so wide open Fisher leaves Terry and comes sprinting at Kidd. Terry is wide open and nails the go-ahead three. Dallas 91 LA 89

1:28 We're tied and Dirk wants the ball again. He says 'F it' and drives to the hoop like he's Jordan in his prime, but two men come over and swarm him. Dirk stops his dribble and sinks a ridiculous left handed hook shot from the side of the rim. Dallas 93 LA 91

0:25 After a huge defensive play by Peja, the Lakers double Dirk. He instantly passes the ball and Peja dumps it to Terry who is fouled and sinks both free throws with Dirklike ice in his veins. Dallas 95, LA 91, GAME OVER.

Final 7:35 - 9 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound. And two more passes that eventually resulted in a three-pointer and two free throws.

DIRK HAD A HAND IN 19 POINTS IN THE LAST 7:35

That's kinda the thing.. Dirk isn't getting credit for the assists, but he's creating the mismatches by driving into the lane and kicking out to the open man who usually swings the ball around to find someone even more wide open.

Exactly. If the NBA counted hockey assists...Dirk would be close to the league lead. So many things Dirk does don't show up in the stat sheet...well, they do, in the +/- category, but not otherwise. The way he gives JJB a free path to the cup because both guys stick to him like glue on the PnR. The way he spaces the floor. The way he gets Jet, Kidd, and Peja open jumpers. He really creates everything for everyone.

Dirk is like a time machine. He turns back the clock for Peja, Kidd, Jet and co. With Dirk in the lineup even Reggie Miller could play a couple of min. and make some high % shots....

Nowitzki Shooting 76 Percent When Defended By Gasol

Nowitzki feasted on Pau Gasol offensively as 27 of his 32 points came while being guarded by Gasol.

Nowitzki is 19-of-25 from the floor for 45 points against Gasol this series.

Keep it up Phil!

Dirk has been the best player in this series so far; hopefully that will change here on out.

Someone needs to create a book filled with Dirk greatness like this. I would buy it.. and read it/show it every night to my kids, and then grandkids, and pass it down generation by generation so that all could know of the greatness that is Dirk Nowitzki.
