I would like to take full credit for the mavs championship. Creating this thread brought favor from the basketball gods.
10 years on this site (and more as a mavs fan in general) a waste of time? Not anymore!

Life has taken over and I just don't have time to post as much as I used to. And I won't lie, 2006 took a lot out of me. But it's rather iconic that it's been over 10 years since d-m opened. I came over from the Lone Mavs Fan Forum (I think that's what it was called). I KNOW kg was there, too. I think dj was maybe. God, I'm getting old.

10 years go so fast!! When a 50 win season was a celebration. I'm glad we have seen this team finally fulfill their (and our) dreams. What I've found amazing watching this series from afar is the interest in the NBA at the moment, in particular fans in Australia's knowledge of Dallas, Dirk and their loathing of the Miami Heat. I watched each game during my lunch break at a cable television stand at a shopping centre near work. By the NBA finals there was a crowd of 50-60 people crowded around a big screen. It is heartening that the game has so much support, despite a sub-par national league here.

Wow, anyone know what kind of Mavs fan posts over 8,000 times on this forum for 9 years then disappears as soon as we make a title run? I mean, I certainly don't miss the logical fallacies, but it was a bit odd to see our resident knee-jerker disappear as soon as the going got good.
I guess some people just don't have much to talk about unless they're bitching...

This is apparently my first post:

Affects the Spurs quite a bit. Steve Smith is not nearly as athleticaly gifted as Anderson. They (the Spurs) will be exposed again next year, especially when they play the Lakers.
My only question: is Anderson crazy? Sure he makes more money with Portland but he had a much better shot at winning a championship with the Spurs.

Man, looking at that old list... LoneStaRob, TheKid, Salenjager, Mavinator, Hoopsmeister........
Here's a gem from my early posting days:

Surprised to to see Juwan come off the bench. More surprised that Dirk was the starting power forward.
Dirk at PF kind of intrigues me. Not sure if it'll work out in the long run. He rebounded very well and his D looked a lot better tonight. (Now if only he'll break out of the shooting slump.) What do y'all think? Should we keep him at the 4 and let Fin, Buck and Griffen swap out at the 2 and 3?
One thing that still drives me crazy is all the Mavs on offense stand around two much. And instead of attacking the rim we like to shoot outside jumpers.
Get to the basket. Dirk did drive a lot (personally I thought he got hammered a couple of times but dems da breaks). Others have got to go to the hoop and with authority.
|
Damn I'm glad they kept him as the 4.

Pretty amazing, and pretty awesome, to see all the old guys and gals back on board this week. I feel like a freshman again!
And some of you dudes...I hope you are on vacation this week, because otherwise I know you can't collect that paycheck with a clear conscience.

My first post was some unnecessarily specific point about Leandro Barbosa vs Raja Bell. Not interesting in the slightest. But here is one of my first 10 or so posts:

Oh and Dan Patrick today on the radio..."The Mavs have no anwer for Wade."
Maybe not Dan, we'll see, but dang don't count out Griffin and Howard right off the bat. Wade is going to have to work pretty hard me thinks....

...not wasted time by any means. Wish I still had as much to say.
Actually, I had a couple posts I wanted to start this week, but the board won't let me. Do I need to pay for that?
There's been an LRB sighting? Cool! Sorry I missed him.

I think I must be in my 10th year, though I don't post much anymore.
This board has been in and out of control many times over the years, but it remains the best place of mavs discussion.

I don't think it'd be very nice of us to blame Dr. Bio for the conduct of his graduate students.
