Let's do this - this is step one of the post-season journey. tree-fo-fo baby but we're taking it one game a time.

Playing the Rays was not the ideal scenario for the first round.. but the Rangers still have the better team. Both teams are obviously hot.... just gotta get to this young kid early and hold down Tampa's bats.

I can't emphasize enough just how important it is to have CJ pitch very well and our team come out on top in game 1. Sure, we could lose the series if we win game 1 and we could win the series if we lose game 1, but man, we need this one.
GO RANGERS!

Texas should win because they have the better team.
With that said, anyone can win -- so lets see what they do.

Yeah, regardless of Moore's pedigree and capability, this is the most "lopsided" pitching matchup, and one that we can and should win. Not gonna keep me from being worried.
Worked until 6 last night so I could leave the office at 3 today.

Already asked my boss if I could leave early! APPROVED!!!
Awesome btw to let the son of the fallen fire fighter throw out the first pitch today. Love being a fan of a first class organization.

anyone know of a good internet link to watch?
also, anyone with experience of using the mlb.tv companion feed? it costs like $4 for the series, but i'm not sure if it's worth it.

Man, that was seriously a kick in the nuts. This is going to be one helluva tough series to win now. Winning 3 out of 4 will definitely be tough when twice you have to face Shields and another game you get Price.
No worries though - last year we won twice in their place and they forced game 5 by winning twice in our place. Holland - do NOT pitch like CJ. Pitch like the stud you have been for the past several months. Oh, and Ranger bats - come back to life please. CJ could have pitched a 1-run masterpiece and still lost this abortion of a game.

Our best player was the kid who caught Shoppach's first home run on the hill and fired it back to the infield.
All aboard the S.S. Failboat. Your captain: CJ Wilson.

That is why you play the games though.

I'm worried about Holland's psyche...he seems like the kind of guy who give his best when things are going well. I'm concerned that CJ's pathetic showing yesterday could collapse The Dutch Oven's own confidence.

Let me ask you baseball heads a question: Does CJ's showing yesterday do anything to your desire to resign him as our Ace for the future?

Scary situation - TB knows how to squeeze out wins in games like this, especially lately. I am so Fing sick of that prick of a bullpen stud come in and give up homeruns. Guy was RIDICULOUS in Baltimore and sucks ass ever since he comes to our team? Sheesh.
7-3 becomes 7-6 just like that. Walk, single, HR - that was his playoff appearance. Good job jack ass.

Huge win. To be honest, I expected to go to Tampa tied 1-1 because I didn't think we would hit Shields like that. Weird how it played out, but nice all the same. We will definitely steal 1 in Tampa - hopefully we come hard and get both. Not sure I want to see CJ again.
I don't want to be a buzzkill given the win and the save, but Feliz can NOT walk Upton like that to bring Evan up in that situation with an opportunity to tie it. He could give up a hit and I would be MUCH happier than with that walk. Just can't do that. Glad we worked around it - but come on Feliz.

He could give up a homerun and I'd be happier than giving up a walk. You have to make him swing the bat in that situation.

Just curious - did you watch him in a Rangers' uniform prior to the playoffs? If so, how did you enter postseason play with any confidence at all?
Dude is a spare in Arlington. Was a beast in Camden Yards, but he Fing sucks for us.

Won't go so far as to say that...
But yeah, he has to make him swing the bat. Sad thing is all 4 balls were BALLS. No chance to get Upton to chase. Just can't do that. Can't say that enough times.

I went to the game tonight and was glad the Rangers finally got off schneid in that fourth inning. I don't know much about baseball, but I was a little surprised they pulled Ogando so quick. Wasn't he supposed to be our long reliever in the postseason anyways? He seemed like he was pretty effective but Wash called it a night for Ogando after a mere inning. Feels like Wash was a little quick with the hook there.

I suppose Ogando could be used as a long man..but with a day off, Wash had he pen set up how he wanted it (obviously he'd like the starter to go longer).. Ogando to Uehara to Adams to Feliz.. The Uehara link in the chain just didn't quite work out. I wouldn't be shocked to see those two flip flopped.
And yeah, Ogando can go more innings..but I think Wash likes the idea of him being able to pitch in several games in a series if necessary. Of course, if a situation arose where they needed someone to go 3-4 innings in a close game, I think it would be Ogando that would get the call. I suppose it all just depends upon the situation.

Feldman is the long man in the traditional sense of the term.
And for what it's worth, it did take a great play from Moreland to prevent Ogando giving up a run, after he gave up a well hit double. His stuff looked great and I want to see him in the 7th until Koji gets things figured out (which probably won't be until next year), but it's not like he was unhittable last night.

He was really, really good in September. I was convinced he had regained his form.
