Chris Paul Heading to the Lakers
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
The Hornets have started to inform teams that they're sending Chris Paul to the Lakers for Bynum and Odom, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Wow. Lakers out of the sudden VERY small in the middle. Kobe's knees and Pau's downtrend...
I don't know if that's really a good deal for L.A.
€dit: It's Odom and Paul.
Now it's a steal for the Lakers ... something HAD to be wrong I guess

Wow... he got it wrong.. it's Pau, not Bynum going.
WOW... I can totally see them continue to dangle Bynum for Howard.

They traded one strength/weakness for the opposite strength/weakness...
Good luck with all that!

They still have their last bullet and it's likely to hit its target.
Either way, still a great grab for New Orleans.

God that would suck if the Lakers got Howard.
Still...not too shabby for NO. I wonder how motivated Pau will be to play there.

New Orleans should just contract out of existence, instead of being a farm club for the lakers, sorta like Memphis before them.

If rest of deal goes through as proposed, sources tell ESPN that HOU would send Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and Goran Dragic to N.O. for Gasol
per Marc Stein
So this is a three team deal
Lakers get: CP3
Hornets get: Kevin Martin, Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, Gordan Dragic
Rockets get: Pau Gasol

Bend over hornets. Probably should add Houston in there as well.. Who is batman on that team because we've seen a gasol led team before.

If New Orleans can find another more than capable point guard, they can have a pretty damn good shot of making the playoffs.

Yeah I take that one back. They'll probably get picks on top of that and the package from Houston for Gasol is really good.
So Houston gets the WTF-tag this year!

Don't see how this works for LA unless they end up pulling off a Stern miracle and also get Howard.
Right now i guess the nickname for this laker superteam should be the "Bad knees trio".

New Orleans made out as well as could have been expected from a talent standpoint. If I was a Hornets fan my concern would be that we got back just enough talent to maintain the status quo. With a core of Scola, Odom and Martin they won't be bad enough to get a high lottery pick in a loaded draft but they won't make it past the first round of the playoffs either. That's NBA purgatory.

I haven't been able to find confirmation of this anywhere (although it would make sense). Anybody point me to a definitive source?

Jack
K-Mart
Odom
Scola
Gray
If N.O. upgrades at PG or C, that team has a shot of making it out of the first round, but yeah, pretty much good team purgatory. Stupid trade for Houston.
CP3
Kobe
Artest
Okafor (he can play PF...we'll see if they play him there.)
Bynum
Yikes.

He's from the L.A. Times. But Okafor indeed seems to be not more than a "might" right now.

Adrian Woj and Marc Stein reporting that the owners are calling for Stern to block the deal, and that it won't go through tomorrow now.

Just curious: The Hornets are owned by the NBA and the owners are 1/29 of the NBA. So why don't they vote?

Trade has been re-submitted. Details not yet available, but presumably more youth/picks headed to NO, per Stein/Broussard.

Wow, an already sweet deal for New Orleans sounds like it's about to get sweeter. If the NBA kills this deal, they just need to contract the Hornets out of existence because they obviously don't care at this point about acting in their best interest.

I'm a Mavericks fan only, but I lived in NOLA from 2007-2010 and had season tickets to the hornets for 2 years. My wife is actually a bigger Hornet fan than Mav fan because of this. We really love CP3.
BUT, I actually really like the result of the trade. (if it i similar to the first trade)
Okafor, Odom, Scola, and K Martin definitely sound like they could be the best 4 players on a pretty good team. Winning cures all and I think NOLA could fall in love with the team if they get 45-50+ wins. I think that is very reasonable. Looking at PER for those 4 it was 16, 19.5, 18.6, and 21.5. With guys like that getting heavy minutes it could really work.
I think the biggest news of the trade is that no matter what the lockout tried to do… it definitely didn't change anything for players choosing where they want to play.
