NBA Free Agency Thread
The Indiana Pacers agreed on a two-year, $20 million deal with free-agent forward David West, a source close to the situation told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

Lolz, GS offered DeAndre Jordan 4/40. Lockout changed nothing.

And the Clippers are planning to match! He's a nice young player but that's a ridiculous commitment to make at this stage.

Hmm, so Jeremy Lin has been claimed off waivers, but Arenas was not. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

I actually just tried to find a thread from last pre-season where people were flaming the Mavs for not giving Lin a guaranteed contract. I gave up because "Lin" is too short too search for on its own.
So rather than digging up the thread, let me just ask everyone to please, for the love of God, remember Jeremy Lin when you're freaking out over a guy in Summer League. Please.

Seems like Clippers now frontrunners for CP3 trade. They are willing to give up Gordon or the MIN-1st if Paul picks up player option next year, which would take him out of the 2012 FA class.
Considering that the last time talks only felt apart because Clippers were unwilling to part with Gordon / 1st and Paul now has stated he indeed would pick up the player option, this should be a done deal. Also Hunter's "deadline" for taking this to the court expires tomorrow.

I think Jamal Crawford would be a solid signing for the Blazers. With all the bad luck they've had, they could do a lot worse than a Felton/Matthews/Crawford rotation with Batum/Wallace also on the wings.

Really nice day for the Nuggets.
Re-upping with Nene while also attaining Fernandez and Brewer.

It really matters how you look at it, they lose all cap flexibility with the Nene contract and it will be much harder for them to get any significant free agent next year. They are surely going to have to resign Aaron Affalo, Danilo Gallinari, and Wilson Chandler over the next year, if they let Nene walk they would have had some caproom to play with next offseason now that is doubtful. Like the trade for them though Brewer is a perfect fit to back up Gallinari and provide them with needed perimeter defense.

JR Smith and Kenyon Martin will be unrestricted free agents (Wilson Chandler is restriced) when the Chinese basketball season ends in March...
Interesting.

Paul to the Clippers and they'll keep Gordon. Not too sure Lakers are the No.1 team in town right now
They are certainly not championship ready, but a starting five of Paul-Gordon-Butler-Griffin-Jordan is tasty.
€dit: Sorry, misread the twitter-msg, Gordon will be traded, they keep Bledsoe.

Even with only 66 games to play Griffin's going to shatter the record for dunks in a season.

The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a deal in principle with the league-owned New Orleans Hornets to acquire guard Chris Paul, according to sources close to the process.
The Clippers, sources said, will send guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first-round pick to the Hornets for Paul.
The Clippers will also receive two future second-round picks, according to sources.
The deal is expected to be approved by the league Wednesday night, sources said.

This just came across my Twitter feed.
Cavs waive guard Baron Davis & designated him as the team’s amnesty player.

No and... well no.
From Sheridan:

We’ll see you on the highlight reels, CP3, but we won’t be seeing you in the playoffs.

That's a bold statement. Oh... and he doesn't seem to know about Caron Butler being on the Clippers.

What a strange sentiment from Sheridan. Best point guard (who's a much better player than the best guy the Clips gave up), and best point guard rotation in the NBA. Griffin and Jordan are each a year older. Upgraded at SF. The Clippers look like a playoff team to me, even with the lack of quality front-court depth and the loss of Gordon.

Yeahhhh.. if the Hornets could make it last year, the Clippers will make it this year. Not sure if they are a 2nd round team but it's possible.

I think everybody is just going a bit overboard right now. I think Mavs, Lakers, Spurs (you never know) and OKC will be frontrunners, Memphis and Clippers not far behind.

Well, let me use Carters word: A dunk is also just two points.
Lets see what gonna happen in crunchtime or in the 1st playoff round when much more offense happens in halfcourt...

Most underrated offseason goes to Indy, made a thread on it during the lockett, David West fits the team perfectly, and they resigned a good but extremely dirty player in Jeff Foster he will help them a ton on the boards. I think Paul George is going to breakout for them.

I'm hoping Dwight Howard sees how stripped down New Jersey and the Clippers have become, no draft picks, good parts sent packing. Deron Williams would be lucky to see the playoffs as currently constructed. clippers have a good shot with Griffin and Jordan, but it's the west. Hopefully he sees that and moves off his trade demands, waits until the offseason and just jump ship like Lebron and Bosh did.

According to Chris Broussard Josh Howard has agreed to terms with the Jazz. Seems like an weird city/personality fit but I guess you have to go where you're wanted.

Not really FA-related, but turns out the Heat got lucky in the Draft and Norris Cole is a really decent player.
Too bad...

Just curious, what are we basing this on, seeing as the kid hasn't played a game yet?

Not overhyping, but watched the guy play at tonights scrimmage (oh yeah ... couldn't avoid ...). Shouldn't be much of a factor this year, but could develop into a serious option at the point starting next year. Seems pretty confident, quick first step and overall finesse.
FWIW: Heat writers see Cole starting over Chalmers at some point already this season.

I'v seen him play he is going to be a good one (also like the Morris pick for LA) but he is not a true point more of a combo guard.
