Yes he should flop. Ibaka threw a freakin elbow to Dirk's neck...
Look at LBJ. He folpped all the time against Chandler and Tyson almost got a 2nd technical.
Stern and his blind refs seem to love flopping and acting.

Don't know if I would call it flopping, but Dirk definitely dramatizes things a bit in order to try and sell a call.
Dirk often comes up in some of the "Top NBA Flopper" discussions.

Still, Harden is at the top there.

A good flopper is like having a good shooter, a good rebounder, a good charge-taker. It's a part of the game, especially when there are still going to be missed calls that go the other team's way.

Harden's not a top flopper by any means. A big time flopper is like Chris Paul who literally twirls and flops to the ground. Harden flails his arms, that's about it. He's actually a lot better about that this year than he was in the past though.
And I don't really consider Dirk a really big flopper. He bitches and whines a lot, but he's not too blatant of a flopper...just a little dramatic.

I loved all the times Harden came off a screen in game 1 and threw his head back like he just got in a car wreck. True comedy. There's a difference between demonstrating actual contact (Dirk reacts after getting actually hacked) and flailing about without any meaningful contact (what JJ Barea did routinely for us). I think Harden is definitely closer to the second pool, but Chris Paul really is the king of that bitch-ass move.
Here's some evidence of what i'm talking about - http://topflops.com/2011/06/05/updat...-the-playoffs/ - The Harden play is just blatantly imagining contact, while the Nowitzki play is selling an actual foul. Saying Harden is not a top flopper is pure homer garbage.

Harden never gets that screen call, or very rarely. He should stop with the head thing. Most of his foul calls are drives through the lane where he holds the ball low and goes up hard. He's truly fouled a lot in those situations due to the fact that move is pretty slitherly and hard to defend.

Go back to insidehoops. The meaningless drivel over there is really more your speed.

To be sure, he's great at creating contact and a lot of big time players (Duncan, Dirk, Durant) have become incredibly offensive threats by finding ways to get fouled. But he's also definitely a prime offender in constantly trying to oversell minimal contact. Those guys are awesome when they are on your team (we loved JJB for it) but incredibly annoying on other teams. And yes, Paul is definitely the worst offender.
That said, fouls aren't the story here. We've seen series where the games have swung entirely because of the Refs (Miami in 2006, Denver game 3 in 2009, and San Antonio games 3 and 4 in 2010). Game 1 was not like that, and there's no point for fans to complain. But RC definitely should do something to make the refs more on their toes and watching for contact.

Lol, this is what I think of when I think about Harden. Throwing his head back giving himself whiplash when he comes off screens and starts to drive.

If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying.
As long as the refs call it bitch-like, play it up.

Flopping is destroying the NBA. Those saying that Dirk should do it (more) are completely ignorant to the fact that it is such a shame to the game to do so.
If anything, Dirk needs to do a lot less of it. He mainly flops when he tries to go for a rebound and acts like he gets pushed in the back. Just go up strong!

Dirk is a 7 footer with two bad ankles. Either you flop when you get pushed, or you end up like Yao Ming.
Losing balance in those situations is simply a method to absorb energy and protect your legs. One should not copmare it to Harden, Paul and co. What they do is (theatralical) flopping

How did everyone end up taking this so seriously? I laughed before I even entered the thread.
It's funny to think about how many players flop their way to the foul line but Dirk actually uses something called intelligence and skill to get there.
But with further thought on the subject, yes he should flop. I mean look at the Knicks in game 1, Miami flopped their way to the win, now imagine if NY started flopping in that game.
Dirk needs to flop a little to even it out since we are playing against Harden. He flops enough for the rest of the team. Makes me miss Barea a little more.

Sure, every nba player should flop at any and every instance. It works.

Dirk rarely flops, but yet so many idiots in the media and fans of other teams are always accusing him of flopping. Almost every time Dirk gets fouled on the road it's a big deal, it's like some people just feel Dirk isn't entitled to calls and he has to play through the fouls every game. If Dirk actually started flopping we would never hear the end of it from the media. So no, Dirk don't flop. Keep killing them with your jumper and your post game.

@ Dirkadirkastan stop your trolling pls
Regarding Dirk and flopping, of course he shouldn't start flopping... He will go down in the books as a truly great sportsman. Who reached it all, played in the league on a high level for such a long time and still stayed a very humble guy. Why hurt that reputation?

Flop of the night:
http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/pos...-dirk-nowitzki
Yes, he should stop. Nothing more annoying than a true flop like this. There's exaggerations, unnecessary yells, head jerks, and many other things, but nothing beats diving head first out of bounds for no damn reason.

By the way, I think the rules should allow for any official on the court who suspects such a flop to call for immediate review. In the course of reviewing this play, for example, the officials should immediately reverse the call and then issue a technical foul (in this case, Dirk) on the guilty flopper. I'm not pointing a finger only at Dirk, but this was the most recent example, so I'm using it. I believe this should occur across the NBA.

You've got to do a hell of a lot better than that. Possibly go back to westbrook splitting two players in the lane, not being touched and diving headfirst into the lane for a call. That was a push in the back on a rebound attempt. Obvious foul.

Players should all flop and be right upfront about it. It works so do it. Until the refs start going back AFTER the game and accessing fines nothing will change.

Speaking of fisher...does anyone respect this dude? He gets traded to houston (bad team) and screams that his daughter needs him. He gets traded to the thunder (good team) and "oh well".
Seems rather hypocritical to use your daughters illness in so blantant a way.
