CUBAN RIPS KIDD!
http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story/...oes-jason-kidd
“I was more than upset. I thought he was coming. I was pissed. J-Kidd is a big boy; he can do whatever he wants. But you don't change your mind like that. That was ... yeah. I'm sure I'll get over it at some point, but as of now, I wouldn't put J-Kidd's number in the rafters.”

Not a shocker, one day he verbally commits, the next day he changes his mind. I'm sure it took Cuban a lot of pushing/pulling of Donnie....to give Kidd that offer. Pretty much lined up for a front office job alongside Cuban...that's pretty much out the door too.

Well, at least Kidd gets to mentor Jeremy Lin...

Kidd did Cuban a favor so I'm not sure why he'd be so angry about it.

Exactly. Cuban will realize his team got younger and he'll get over it soon.

There's no sense crying about Kidd's decision from a basketball or salary-cap management perspective. But it was an embarrassing and ill-timed PR hit, and from that perspective it's not surprising that Cuban would hold a grudge.

I think he meant Boozer.
Although Boozer asked to get out of his deal in order to re-sign and then left. Kidd was an UFA and just said he'd return and didn't.

Cubes has got to be kidding me. Why should jkiddo have any "commitment" to the organization. Cubes had just spent the last two years ripping the team apart. Jet is a "good" guy because Cuban didn't want him and he left, jkiddo is an sob because cubes did want him and he left. Commitment my arse. Cubes would have traded him in a ny minute.
"Listen to Cuban explain further: “It hurt my feelings, period, because I thought that we had developed a relationship and I thought (Kidd) was committed to the organization. It sure seemed like he was. I mean, J-Kidd was active in going out there and talking to Deron Williams the whole time. I guess it was more shocking and surprising than anything else.”

I am happy for Fin, great that he is back with the Mavs.
Kidd, I think he was too old anyway, looking forward to watch a Mavs point guard who can shoot something else than spot up three pointers with a toe on the line.

There is some truth in your post here, but it is worth noting that Cuban also stated that Kidd had verbally agreed to return, and then later that afternoon changed his mind and agreed to sign with the Knicks without even talking to Cuban (Kidd tried to call him but Cuban was unavailable).
Breaking verbal agreements is not looked upon fondly in the NBA.

You seem to be missing the point entirely. Cuban isn't just referring to some vague idea of "commitment" to a team that can then turn around and trade you at any time. Kidd specifically committed to return and then reneged. On top of his extensive history with the Mavs, Cuban is entirely justified in thinking Kidd is committed when Kidd, you know, expressly commits to stay.
As thig said, a verbal commitment is a pretty big deal in the NBA. They're rarely broken. I'm actually glad Kidd changed his mind, but to act like Cuban is being ridiculous is just more sour grapes from you about the same old issue.

Kidd has always been a hired gun type to me. He's a hall of famer but his best years were in NJ and he never seemed too committed to the mavs.

I guess I was strangely unaware that Kidd actually did give a verbal agreement. That does change it a bit and is extremely unprofessional. Still...things sometimes happen for a reason. Hard to cry over spilt milk when you get a fresh new carton in Collison and a new team overall. And the telephone pole says that Karma is a b**ch.

So Cuban can rip a championship team apart and insult Tyson Chandler with a one-year offer, and that's fine.
But Kidd can't leave for New York where his kids live?
And last I checked, Kidd was in town and trying to help land Deron Williams when Cuban was in California filming Shark Tank.

Cuban has every right to feel the way he does. The day before Kidd pick the Knicks, there were reports that Kidd verballed on a 3 year deal with the Mavs. This was widely reported, then the next day, Kidd verbals to the Knicks after a full day of golf and thinking the Knicks have more chips....at the time. In addition the Nets got Williams and had committed their full MLE to Teletovic immediately, leaving the "Kidd-Williams" equation out of Brooklyn. Kidd pretty much only had the 3 year deal he got Cuban to agree with on the table.....and don't tell me otherwise, no way Cuban offers him 3 years out the gate, Kidd asked for it and Cuban gave it, because it is Jason Kidd...that's what Cuban thought in his mind. Pretty sure, the Knicks threw out the same offer after Kidd verballed with the Mavs. Kidd's been away from TJ and his 2 daughters for 3 years. Please do not mix kids into the equation, he has a son in LA who's 18, another daughter in LA who's 16 as well....Kidd, please do not use your kids as a crutch.

I had a bigger problem with what Kidd did when the only points on the roster were Roddy and Dojo. I'm glad he went through with it seeing what our backcourt ended up being. But yeah, in a vacuum, going back on a verbal agreement doesn't leave a great taste in your mouth.

I love the irony that comes with so many truly awful posters over the years mimicking each other (sometimes almost verbatim) in saying, "I think for myself."

I was going to rip Erod, but hey...let him bask in his fake martyrdom glory.
Kinda sad that it had to end this way with Kidd. Reneging on a verbal contract and then drunk driving into a telephone pole leaves a bad taste. I guess break-ups are never fun, but I'm more than ok with the pg position as it stands. Even West was better than Kidd last year, and he is the back-up. Mavs are deep.

Oh no doubt, brass made huge in roads to replace Kidd and Jet....and the Deron failure. Collison, Mayo and Jones are nice pieces to surround Dirk with.

And it is comical to the point of pathetic how many here actual judge each other based on if they have little green squares or little red ones next to their fake name on an anonymous message board.

People don't judge you because of red boxes. They judge you because your posts are substantively terrible.

OMG what a freaking insult to offer him 20m for one freaking year making him like the 5th hightest paid player in 11-12
Any doubts a team offering Chandler this offseason again such a monster contract with freaking Hibbert getting max?
Chandler had no balls, thats why he didnt stay. He lost a few millions with that....
