I don't think Marion will be dealt regardless, doubt they want Crowder to start this year and Marion is still hands down the best perimeter defender on the team. Also he will have more value as a expiring deal in the offseason. Could see them moving Vince tho to clear up SF minutes for Crowder. Carlisle has a lot of options this year.

More than anything, the Mavs need good young talent going forward. Hopefully Crowder is one of the guys that you can point to as the Mavs look to reload via trade/free agency. Need some young talent to go along with Dirk when trying to get guys in here. Mayo.. Crowder, Collison, etc..gotta hit on a couple of these guys in a pretty big way.

I've had a dark view of the Mavs since before their championship run. The good guys were getting old (Dirk, Marion, Terry, Kidd) and we had no young guys with any skill. In the last three years, all we had for youth was Roddy, who has been frustratingly inconsistent and injury-plagued.
For the first time since 2008, we have a lot of guys that have huge ceilings and a ton of youth.
Roddy (24)
Collison (25)
Crowder (22)
Cunningham (21)
James (27)
Mayo (25)
Wright (25)
That's a lot of young guys. If even two of those explode this season, this team may be very good, and I'm excited about the direction of this team.

Marion and Vince are going nowhere this year.

This.
Vince will replace JET as that 6th man/perimeter shooter role.

Interesting. I was actually going to ask a similar question to you earlier in this thread. Hate is a strong word but you definitely don't come across as a Jones aficionado.

I think the only thing that may prevent Dojo from getting a second NBA contract, along with adoration from Dallas fans, is a decent set shot. He's just got to be able to make a shot when he's wide open. I personally think that this skill can be learned. Now, if he didn't have handles at this stage of the game, I would give up on him. I think it's a bit unfair to give up on him when he hasn't really been given that much of an opportunity to show what he can do. Yes, he makes bone-headed mistakes from time to time, but isn't that what young players usually do? Look, I'm not saying he's going to be an allstar, but I think he definitely has a shot to carve out a decent career for himself in the NBA.
Flame on.

Man he's been here what two, three years? He doesn't even look to take an outside shot which is probably just as well. He's done here. He may stay this year because he does have solid handles and seems to have a good sense of the game and we have crap as backup point.
But he'd better be on a budget.

Dirks out, so there will be more PT available with Marion or Crowder sliding to PF from time to time...

Impress with Crowder (Didn't know his father played in the NBA) He looks like a high IQ player.
Was checking the rookies that average 2 steals or more during the pre-season since 2006 with more than 4 games and the only ones to do it:
Chris Paul
Rajon Rondo
R Fernandez
T Lawson
S Curry
J Wall
That is good company!!

crowder is my 2nd favorite player behind dirk. I know its preseason but this guy is awesome. makes me excited aboiut the future of the dallas basketball mavericks. alsp bernard james has the potential of being a david robinson calibre player. cunningham is devon harris all over again but prolly a better option in the long run.that is all

Crowder is "awesome" ? "2nd favorite" ?
How about giving some respect to Shawn Marion ?
Crowder so far is pretty inconsistent, gets outrebounded easily and his defense looks very suspect. Yes, he is running like crazy and spending much energy, but his real impact on the game needs to improve. Basketball is more than running up and down the court.

So he's not entitled to have an opinion of Crowder? Someone's awfully crabby without their Dirk fix.
Crowder is a rookie-your expectations of him at this point are ridiculous and unrealistic considering the weird lineups he's playing in. No center, the star PF out w/injury, other rookies/new players.

The Crow
Crowbar
Take your pick, but he will be a good pro. I bet not a perennial all star/all nba type player but a solid pro with a chance of being an all-star every once in a while. A la Artest, Josh Howard, etc.
But what he has going for him more than those two guys is a work ethic. And that work ethic might propel him to a far greater player in the long run.

He certainly respects Marion. Carlisle said that the two have become interchangeable parts and that they work well on the floor together. Crowder said that Marion has been a huge help as he's trying to get used to the league. He also said they're getting more and more comfortable on the floor together.

It's just refreshing to see a rookie who looks like he knows how to play.
That Davis kid really looked solid.

Does Crowder log the most MPG of any non-starter this season, granted he plays similar to what he has thus far?
