Troy Murphy played more than Wright and Brand combined. Think about that.
Both Brand and Wright are better for the defense. Both are better scoring. Both protect the paint the paint. Both can run pick and rolls and both can hit the 15 footers.
Yet the Mavs play the guy who can **cough shoot the 3 **cough**....

I admire what Carlisle is trying to do here, but we don't need to play with a cardboard Dirk substitute. We need to go back to games 1-4 where we just played the best ball we could. Murphy must rest and the guys just have to find a way to win games. This isn't about getting the team trained to work with Dirk. It's about making sure we are 10-10 when Dirk gets back and not 5-15.

This pairing has to be broken up so Kaman can be put into the starting lineup which will relieve us of the dreaded Murphy/Kaman pairing. Mayo/Collison are turnstile's on defense so you can't have Kaman defending the rim.

Hey guys. New member here. Longtime fan from Europe.
Very concerned about the way things are going. Really, the last two losses are inexcusable. Charlotte was just crap, but tonight wasn't much better. T-Wolves had many injuries and even Pekovic went down. Still the effort from Mavs was miserable.
And I agree, I don't really get Murphy.

Well, that's a bad loss. Time to get back to the gym and get better.

Things can change so quickly and the momentum is gone. The game against Washington must be a W, no question. But after that the schedule already seems dangerous. The B2B against Cleveland and Indiana is hard. If it goes 1-1 we're lucky. And after that the rest of the month is also quite difficult.

Murphy obviously has become the local excuse boy. But the starting lineup sucked, absolutely sucked. Can't rebound, can't defend, if they aren't hitting 60% from the field, can't score.

Name something Murphy does well. Not something he used to do well, but something he does well now.

He actually does a good job showing on the PnR.
Now, if he could knock down a jumper...

Hello everyone, new member on this forum but I have been reading posts for the last couple of years.
I agree that Murphy played too much (i have no confidence on that three point shot going in) but i think that compared to wright he is doing a better job rebounding, at least he is trying to get some offensive rebounds (i remember him forcing a couple of second chances even though he didn't get the offensive rebound) and he is boxing out better on the defensive end as well.
I also thought that Crowder played bad defense against AK47, the mavs really need Marion to come back soon. Crowder is better used right now as a energy guy from the bench.

The half court game just stinks right now. Lot of guys not knowing their positions and setting picks late, as an afterthought. Lot of forced shots and little movement...
I'm slightly worried, but with a crew of new guys, it really does take about 20-30 games at a minimum to jell. The first few victories were due to effort, and lack of scouting information for the opposing teams to work off of...they didn't know how the Mavs would function. Now that everyone has seen the current Mavs play, they know our weak spots. Collison is just not that great of a distributor in the half court, and Mayo's ball handling is just as good or slightly worse than Finley's (remember how bad his handling was?). The shoulders then fall on Kaman and Brand.
Crowder is coming back to earth...his height (rebounding) and lack of driving to the basket skills are beginning to impact his game. If he didn't have an outside shot, he would be utterly useless. I thought that we would be a little better in defense, but he, along with others, are not very good right now.
Without Dirk, this team is 9-10 seed. With Dirk, I think we are looking at a 7-8 seed...

No he doesn't. He over shows and isnt athletic enough to get back leading to his man always being open which causes someone else to rotate which begins our defensive problems out of that set.
If wright didn't get hurt last night or at out refuse to do something he was told to do, that was inexcusably bad coaching

Problem is most players on this team have a weakness that hurts the team one way or another. Murphy's problem is that he is an awful defender and always has been. Rebounding doesn't cover that up. He is also shooting 28% from the field...so yeah coach, not seeing it?
Unfortunately, Brand isn't playing any better. I guess there is a reason we won the bid for 2 mil.
And the Crowder hype has all but lost it's steam. He really isn't as good as we all thought he'd be...yet at least.
Roddy was a bright spot, but his shots aren't going in again.
Ohhhh and we lost the rebounding battle again.
These are the types of games you can't lose.

I would like to see Kaman starting next to Wright/Brand. But RC said that he is taking a look at the rotations.

I'm guessing that it still has to do with injury/conditioning issues.
The team has more than a few injury prone players if you think about it...
Wright
Marion
VC
Kaman
Brand
Roddy
These players are almost guaranteed to miss games because of injury.

Are you suggesting that there's more to the job than just looking the part?

I don't have League Pass but saw the few games that were on tv here in Houston. It sounds like Troy Murphy was a big mistake. I see this site still has quick to judge posters. Don't get on their bad side or they'll forever torment you here.

It doesn't take much to check who the starters were, though. If you're going to take the time to make a post complaining about the lineups, double checking and not assuming anything will make you look more credible. I noticed that you don't seem to have much credit around here.

Yeah because Underdog axed me like 10 times. Underdog made an agenda to go after me. I reallly hate Underdog. Who makes a high priority to make someone elses experience on a forum a negative? Anyways, it only made sense to start Kaman. I'm surprised it took Carlisle this long to do it. I'm still not too happy with our center position. No stoppers at that position.

This board should really do away with the Reputation System. All it takes is one hater to alter your ratings. Not cool.

Maybe I should be a more conservative poster like you and never go out on the limb. That way I'm safe from all criticism. There we go. Sorry I find a message board more enjoyable when people say bold comments. They might be wrong. Anyways I admit was wrong about Kaman. My criticisms of Murphy and Collison though have been more accurate. And Stackhouse of the past I thought I was right on about but received criticism for that. Anyways, I'm done talking about this. I just don't find it right when someone has too much say on how your reputation ratings are. I don't consider that crying.

Being wrong about who is in the starting lineup is not bold. And complaining about people critiquing your posts is indeed crying.

I understood it the first time. But you are not helping me by saying it like the 5th time. Am I not allowed to make mistakes here? I learned my lesson to keep up with the lineups and stats when I can't watch the game. And Underdog is doing a little more than just critiquing my posts. I think I made my point about that already though.

You apparently did not understand it the first time since I had to call you out on complaining in the very post right before mine.
Anyway, if you wish the reputation system wasn't there, then you shouldn't care how high or low yours is. Quit acting like such a martyr.

I do care because people look down on me right away when they see my ratings and judge me unfairly. I'm not a troll. I don't understand why some are treating me like one. Without the ratings, everyone gets treated equally.

If you're not sure about something and either can't or won't check it, just preface the post with that or make the damn thing a question.
