PGT: Mavs 123 - Kings 100
Pretty fast game tonight, Mavs attempt season-high threes, but also commit season-high fouls at home. Took care of the ball, especially in the first half.
As the boxscore metrics suggest, it seems fair to point out Dirk, Carter and Collison tonight. Probably Dirks best game so far on both ends and the stats very well underline that.
Kind of annoying though that the starting unit didn't manage to outscore even this weak opponent. Went 24-24 in ~11 minutes and because the Kings had a possession less it even ends up as a minus in the books.

I did my part in the building tonight. I thought Collison really stood out. Carter was hot as a firecracker, of course, but I was most pleased to see Collison being quick and aggressive.
That Johnson kid from Sacramento was impressive. And I would take Cousins on my team, gladly. And...poor Jimmer.

So what's the deal with Kaman?

Sell high on Vince? Or do they see him as a long term piece to the rebuild?

I think they are keeping him. His production at 3MUSD makes him one of the best contracts in the league.

We'd be screwed without V.C. Although I hate how many 3's he has given up this season by sagging down too often and losing his man.
I loved how the team moved the ball and I think it helped the guys who had efficient games out tremendously.
I think D.C and Roddy having good games on the same night is trending up. Keep it going.

He's the preferred age of mbt. They don't like guys under 35.

Houston 29 26
-------------------------
LA Lakers 25 28
Portland 25 28
Dallas 23 29
Sun, Feb 2 vs Los Angeles
Sun, Mar 3 @ Houston
Wed, Mar 6 vs Houston
Tue, Apr 2 @ Los Angeles
Sun, Apr 7 @ Portland
So theoretically we can do this at some point.
Houston xx xx
-------------------------
Dallas xx -1
Portland xx -1
LA Lakers xx -2
1 game out of the 8th seed.

y'all, we are 3 games back! Loss column is all that matters. we can always make up less games played.
3 games back with 30 to go. One nice win streak and we are 8th seed (10 game streak).

4 1/2 games back. You must have been looking at Portland's record.

Have you guys looked at the rest of the schedule? Its actually surprisingly soft. 30 games left, we face LAL 2x, LAC 1X, Utah1x, Houston 2x, Denver 2x, Memphis 1X, Spurs 1x, and Thunder 1X. The only top 5 East team we play is Brooklyn 2X (split) and Indiana 1x (home). We'll more than likely loose the Spurs and Thunder games as they've owned us this season. However, I think we have a fighting change against the rest. I think a .500+ record is very much within reach. And the April schedule looks pretty favorable, presuming its going to come down to the end for the 8th spot. Of course that still means facing SA or OKC in the first round...

Not so fast--More than half the remaining games are against playoff teams -- teams we have gone 2-16 against so far this season. We'll need to go 7-9 against playoff teams and win every one of the other 14 games against lottery teams to make the playoffs.
If we lose one game against a bad team, then we need to go 8-8 against teams we are a combined 2-16 against (0-16 against every playoff team we still need to play other than Houston.)

No doubt, but its very difficult to project future matchups versus earlier season matchups due to the Mavs really being 3 wholly separate teams this year: No Dirk, Transitional Dirk (December), and with Dirk. I mean, realistically we probably loose to any top 5 west or east teams (though the many of those loses have been pretty darn close). I don't think the December record reflects the potential of this team at all, especially if Collison continues to play at the level he's been playing the past month or so.

Actually talked to him for a few seconds last night. He said he's hoping the headaches subside in the next day or two. Getting better, but it's still a lingering issue.
