I have just about had it with Josh...when the f is he going to adjust? when he is hitting .200? The pitchers keep throwing him balls low and away and out of the strike zone yet he continues to insist on swinging and missing at those pitches hoping he will shake out of his slump. Heres a thought, how about making them throw you strikes first?! Be selective for once.

Did anyone ever figure out what is going with Hamilton, that he mentioned he couldn't talk about yet? My theory: he's getting divorced.
Looks like he has lost some weight, too.

Rangers just acquired Dempster from the Cubs. Gave up two A prospects (Villanueva and Hendricks). Don't know much about either myself, but I haven't heard of either as being in the top 15-20, so my guess is that the Rangers got a pretty good deal.

Very good deal.
Villanueva was one of our top 3rd basemen, but he sits behind Olt and Beltre, with Gallo behind.
Hendricks is a solid starter, but we have great depth there currently.
Both players were expendable.
Ranger's don't get an "ace" but a very formidable pitcher that can, at the very least, fulfill Colby's role and possibly give a little more.

So this makes a playoff rotation of Holland, Yu, Harry Caray, and Dempster. Oswalt/Feldman/Ogando as long men. Sweet baby jesus

That was a hell of a comeback. Nellie's HR was estimated at 449 feet.. The tape measure must be broken. That was just about the same shot that Canseco hit many years back except that Cruz's shot was slightly more towards center. No, it might not have been quite as far, but there's no way that there was 30-40 feet difference.

By the looks of it, our starting rotation's really going to be relying on a series virtuoso performances by Caray in the playoffs..

Will the real Yu Darvish please stand up? He has been so terribly average recently.

I don't know... So much depends upon what they decide to do with Josh. You have three guys that are seemingly ready for the majors in Leonys Martin, Mike Olt and Profar. How many free spots do you have in the lineup? You could have Hamilton's.. you could have Young's.. You could have another OF spot. But so much is left to be determined. I suppose a starting spot at 1st base could be available as well. Personally, I like Moreland.
Maybe you could go with a lineup something like:
c - Napoli/Soto
1st - Olt
2nd - Profar
SS - Andrus
3rd - beltre
lf - Kinsler
CF - Martin
RF - Cruz
DH - Moreland
Obviously, a lineup like that would offer up alot of versatility. But what if the Rangers decide to sign Hamilton? Who's the odd man out? What if they decide to start Young? Who's the odd man out? Washington is loyal to a fault to his veterans. Young could very well be a starter next year. Perhaps it means another year in the minors for one or two of Martin/Profar/Olt.. I kinda doubt that all three are regulars in the lineup even though they're all arguably ready.

IT's almost to tough to debate. The Rangers have a very good problem on their hands, but I do not envy the management, at least not for this upcoming offseason.

Re-sign Hamilton. Napoli probably gets let go. Colby may end up retiring at his age, if not a small contract is fine. Keep Mike Adams if he doesn't want too much.

Colby won't retire. Mike Adams is likely to be gone. Too expensive to hold onto a reliever like him. He also wants a chance to close. Napoli's price has gone way down.. see what he costs and then evaluate. As down as he was this year, he very well could come right back next year and have a very good year swinging the stick for a catcher. Hamilton.. that's the question. What do you do with a guy that bangs chicks in restaurant bathrooms in his spare time.. especially when every little piece of him is telling him that one snort won't be that bad...

Martin Perez pitched a gem of a 1st inning today.

1 win in Oakland to take the division.
Would the Rangers want the A's or O's in a 5 game series?

At this point anyone can get anyone (leaving out the wild card game). A's, Yankees, Rangers, and Orioles could all end up in any order of best two division winners and wildcards, with Detroit bringing up the rear. Rangers could end up with homefield throughout or could have to go on the road for the wild card game. So long as the A's either win one game or the Angels lose one game, though, we know the teams.
Edit: Of course, the Rangers couldn't play the A's in the wild card game, but assuming the Rangers make it out of the wild card round (or don't have to play that game), they could face any of the other four teams in the 5-game divisional round.
I'll take the O's, of course, though. They've been extraordinarily lucky to be where they are, unlike Oakland, who's spent the second half kicking ass and taking names.

Rangers are almost as frustrating as the Cowboys this year.

Hey now, I wouldn't go that far. Rangers have some young good talent. And they are probably burnt out from visiting the world series twice in a row. Give them some slack. Dallas barely shown marginal amounts of success in the past 16 years. Do you really want to compare GM Jon Daniels to GM Jerry Jones? Go ahead, do it.

He said almost as frustrating... Alot of the frustration is based upon expectations and based upon where they were just a few short days back. To go from having a solid lead on the Yankees for the best record in the American League to playing in the Play-In game ..well, that's frustrating especially when the melt down occurred in such a quick manner.

Thanks for describing how the Rangers are frustrating Murph. Never mind that the A's are the best team in the league since the All Star Break.
I ask, were the Mavericks incredibly frustrating to you this past year? Or did you give them a pass based on 2011's performance? I think most people realize that one team can't win the whole shebang every year.

What a punch to the gut. I think collapses like this in baseball are the worst. It's one thing for the Cowboys to go 13-3 and then check out in the first round. You only had to commit 17x3=51hours to the season. In baseball you give three hours a night, near every night, for almost half a year. And it all...ends...just like that.

Or, you lead the Division by 13 and then play like crap. All right, the wild-card game was the decider, but the Rangeres choked it long before the pivotal game.

On the bright side, Yu is the future of the franchise and I thought he did very well for himself in such an intense environment.

I was flying back from San Francisco last night while the game was on. I was excited ahead of time because we were flying Virgin American, which has free tv in every seat, and has TBS.
Then I got on the plane and one channel...ONE CHANNEL, wasn't working properly...and it was TBS. It was frozen the entire flight. So frustrating. Just like the entire last month of Ranger baseball. Bleah.

Woah, I knew he was bad last season, but I didn't realize that Napoli's batting average dropped by almost 100pts from the previous season!

He was still significantly better than Young.. He also had the 4th best OPS amongst starters.
