I'd like to think if you make bigoted statements then you are a bigot.
There are a lot of denominations of Christianity that don't believe these things. People just find the parts of any religion they like to support their own preconceived bigotries and biases. He is using religion as an excuse to be a bigot.

I completely respect Jason Collins for his courage to "come out", but have little respect for anyone that isn’t willing to accept opposing views on the issue.
I stand with and support Chris Broussard.

Freedom of speech is not freedom from criticism. He can say whatever bigoted hateful things he wants to, but I have a first amendment right to call him out on his bigotry.
And I have little respect for people who stand with bigots.

More like hiding behind your religion. Listen, I'm all for people using religion as a way of giving themselves inspiration, strength and confidence. That's what religion/faith/spirituality is at its best. It's when people thump their Bibles when criticizing others and arguing against equal rights because that's how they did it 2000 years ago in the Middle East... that just pisses me off. It's like a passive-aggressive version of the WBC.

Simply saying you think homosexuality is a sin doesn't make anyone a bigot. Some people are perfectly capable of maintaining healthy relationships and friendships with people that don't share the same belief system. It's a foundation of our country.
If Broussard refuses to associate with homosexuals, refuses to treat them with respect and courtesy, then he's a bigot. But answering a question honestly doesn't necessarily make him one.

Also, citing Levitical law to uphold your opinion is a waste of time and breath, unless you're also down with owning slaves and punishing people for sleeping with their wives while they're on their period.
If you're going to denounce homosexuality, at least use the verses in the New Testament, it makes for a far more interesting debate.

Religion is a choice, although some say you are born into your religion. Sexual preference is genetics, although some people say it's a choice. How you deal with disagreement over these things is what matters. Hitler dealt with it very badly. Broussard kind of just stated his disagreement. I think he's deluded, but that's just my opinion.

exactly - why I didn't agree with original thread post. Not a bigot and I thought Chris B answered it well and subsequent comments by him also indicate there is not any bigotry in his statement or his conduct for anyone who is gay.
I had a step-brother who was gay and died of aids in 1984, a close relative who is gay, some friends who are gay, a fellow church member who is gay, a few co-workers who are gay. Friendly to all of them - and I pray for them.

Most of the bigotry I see in this thread is the bigotry towards Christians.
