Drew Gooden
Bucks are using amnesty on him. Should the Mavs try to sign him?

We already have bad defensive players, we don't need another especially in the center spot. By signing players like Gooden I prefer Dalembert or Oden or even Aldrich or.. Diop.

Absolutely yes, if we lose out on Oden. I like Gooden a lot more than I like Dalembert.

Really? Goodwin over Dalembert? Daly is a much better defender/rebounder and is younger.. Not sure why you like Gooden? He's no more than an off the bench guy to replace Elton brand. Definately not starter potential like we need at center with Daly.

Gooden put up some good numbers when he was here, but as I recall the team always seemed to do worse with him out there overall. Always seemed to give up more than he got. That said, he could be a useful back of the rotation guy to get us some cheap buckets inside. I also like him a lot more than Dalembert in a vacuum, but I don't think he pairs well with Dirk at all.

This is a factually false statement. Gooden is younger than Dalembert.

I went from being woefully underwhelmed with Gooden when the Mavs signed him to actually fairly impressed by the time he was shipped out in the Butler trade.
That said, I think it is correct that the net benefit of having him on the court was negligible due to his poor defense. This is an offensively strong Mavs team already (at least on paper); makes much more sense to get a defense-first center.

I think Gooden has more tools than Dalembert. Dally gets more blocks but is routinely one of the highest goaltenders and doesn't have a consistent defensive presence. Gooden is a better scorer with more shooting range, a better passer, and is pretty comparable as a rebounder. He was unjustifiably buried on the bench in Milwaukee but was very productive whenever he got minutes. I get that Dalembert fills the shotblocking need for us, but I think Gooden is a better overall player.

Guys we need defense. Gooden is OK in Indiana or Chicago, but not in DAL. Gooden is actually worse on D than Kaman.

Gooden is the definition of empty numbers. He will give you a double-double while losing the game almost single-handedly.

Gooden, Mullens, Hickson...
These guys are an absolute no go, specially with Calderon and Monta allready on the team

Totally with you on the first two.
Why Hickson though? I just don't know anything about him to make an informed opinion.

Great rebounder, but an undersized defender that gets exposed.
Just say no to Gooden. This team needs defensive bigs.

At this point I'd rather have Drew Gordon than Drew Gooden. Hell I'd rather have Doc Gooden than Drew Gooden.

We should sign Gooden and have him legally change his name to Dwight Howard.

I wouldn't mind Gooden to round out our roster, just noch as primary option at C. There are stronger candidates though and for a Drew Gooden type I don't think we should rush anything. It will be a long three months till the season and a lot can happen between now and then.

I think you're on the right track here, particularly if Dallas ends up keeping Sarge, signing Devin, and missing out on LeBron's uncle. I'm not sure what happened to Drew the last couple years, but he used to be a very productive rebounder at the PF spot, and if those days aren't gone for good that's something that a team that's relying on Brandan Wright as their backup center should be looking for in a backup PF.

Drew Gooden is a worse defender than Brandan Wright and 20 times worse on offense, no thanks. He is not a useful rotational player anymore

Who said that dumbass? The statement was that Gooden is a worst defender than Wright..... anybody that watches Mavs ball knows how much b.wright sucks on the defensive end, so much so that i would rather have Gooden

Gooden is a waste of space. You clearly haven't noticed. Wright may have flaws defensively. But he adds more quickness to the backcourt. But yeah.. keep on with the asinine comments, slugger.

Wright: 1.2 BPG
Gooden: 0.4 BPG
Go on...

Anybody that watched Brandan Wright this past year should recognize how much better he got with his rotations and defensive positioning. The Mavs were actually 1.7 points per 100 possessions better on the defensive end with Brandan Wright on the floor, and he had the lowest defensive rating when on the floor amongst bigs better than Dirk, Sarge, Brand, and Kaman. So try again. For comparisons sake Milwaukee was 2.4 points per 100 possessions WORSE with Drew Gooden on the floor. Seems like your credibility is lost.
