Translated from Portuguese:
Quote:
Kobe Bryant: Dirk Nowitziki is the best foreigner player ever
link
Passing through Brazil, Kobe Bryant has responded on several subjects: demonstrations, soccer team, dynasty Heat, Lakers and NBA as a whole. In São Paulo, the ace was asked about who would be, in your opinion, the best foreign player in history. The Black Mamba had no doubt: "Dirk Nowitzki is the best foreign player of all time, period. After him, I have to put my companion on the list, Pau (Gasol). Pau has always been one of the best, one of the most skilled I've ever seen. And then, perhaps Manu (Ginobili). And then, you know, there's Drazen Petrovic, Vlade Divac, Arvydas Sabonis. I'm sure I'm forgetting many, but these are the ones that come to mind. And Tony Parker." Dirk Nowitzki played his entire adult career in Dallas Mavericks, having come to the franchise in 1998 and spent the entire reconstruction process guided by Mark Cuban who made one of the worst NBA teams into a championship team.

watching Dirk play soccer on German TV right now. At this moment he's doing his famous being-interviewed-and-cheering-his team-on at the same time performance
3:0 against his team: "I need to get subbed in again!"

Dirk with the uber-flop for a penalty-kick, shoots the penalty in the upper right corner, looses jersey, gets a yellow card XD
edit to add: he also signed the yellow card for the referee, gives him thumbs-up

Users in Germany can find the whole game and more videos here, but I'm afraid these vids aren't available in other countries.
I'm not good with the whole gif.ing thing, but I made some blurry sreenshots of his awesome flop. I'll upload and link them if I have a little time on my hands later this evening.

It's official: Dirk is one of us...
Quote:
Dirk Nowitzki 'close' to hating Heat
link
FRISCO, Texas -- Hate is too strong a word for Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki's feelings about the Miami Heat. But not by much.
"In life, I don't really hate much," Nowitzki said Friday on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM's "Fitzsimmons and Durrett" after taking batting practice to prepare for his Heroes celebrity baseball game. "I'm an easygoing guy, but that's probably about as close as it gets."
The 2011 Finals MVP's deep-seated bitterness toward the Heat date to the 2006 Finals, when Miami won the series in six games despite Dallas building a 2-0 lead, and Dwyane Wade later cited Nowitzki's lack of leadership as one of the primary reasons the Mavs failed to win the championship.
Five years later, with Jason Terry his lone teammate remaining from the 2006 Finals, Nowitzki and the Mavs got their revenge by beating the Heat in six games.
Those Mavs remain the lone team to beat the Heat in a playoff series since LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined Wade in Miami.
That fact was apparently forgotten by Wade and coach Erik Spoelsta in the wake of their recent Game 7 win over the San Antonio Spurs. Wade and Spoelstra referred to this season's Finals as "the toughest series that we've ever been in," which stoked Dallas' disdain for the Heat.
"Well, he might have preferred to say 'the toughest series that we won,'" Nowitzki said. "Yeah, for sure, the way they fought that out in Game 7 was an unbelievable series, but we did get 'em."

The Heat make themselves despicable. When you act like a bunch of classless jackasses then you're going to treated as such. Don't worry Wade, Dirk and the planet won't ever forget the wheelchair.
Dwight Howard will never play with a classier player...ever. Dirk would gladly be second fiddle to Howard because that is the type of person he is.

I can't think of anybody in the league with more class than Dirk. There are some players on par with him but that's about it.

Kobe talks about the possibility of taking a pay cut next summer:
Quote:
“I’m not taking any at all – that’s the negotiation that you have to have.” Kobe Bryant told Lakers Nation in an exclusive interview at his Kobe Basketball Academy on Wednesday. “For me to sit here and say, ‘Oh yeah, I’m just going to take a huge pay cut. Nah, I’m going to try to get as much as I possibly can.”

Just looked at some stats from Dirk
11 Time All Star
12 Time All-NBA selection
2011 NBA Finals MVP
NBA Champion (2011)
2007 NBA MVP.
2006 Three Point Shootout Champion.
If he plays 4-5 years more (okay not really realistic) he could break the record for most All Nba Selections (15).
Not saying he gets All Nba Selections with 38 oder 39 but his game not really depends on his age and athletic ability

Can I get in on the Dirk-love?
I was trying to post a new thread to introduce myself as I couldn't find an "introductions" or "new members" thread in a forum search.
But here seems fine! I'm a 27 year old guy living in Britain who loves the Mavs and everything Texas...
Hope to be around here a lot more often.
