The saddest part about this whole story is that it shows up in a Mavs forum...

Seems like the Lakers outsmarted us more than I thought back in 2011. Not that they could foresee all this, but they definitely evaluated Odom better than we did.

Odom (like many addicts) was probably good at hiding it under lies. The Lakers may not have even known-- perhaps they just thought he made too many excuses. We had no history with him, so we were way more likely to believe his bullshit. Plus, Cuban is optimistic to a fault. He thinks Dirk/Carlisle and himself can fix any personality conflict, but this one was bigger than him.
Anyway, I'd be thrilled to move this thread to the NBA section. I just didn't want to post a new thread for a DUI when we already had such a robust Odom-trainwreck thing going on here.

The guy just has a serious mental problem. I'd feel a little bad if this hadn't been going in for years now. It's up to him to get help.

I'd love to see Cuban sue the Lakers for deceptive trade practices. Under discovery, we could find out if they knew he had a drug problem.
Maybe we can get our draft pick back.

I think everyone really just needs to relax a bit. YA know? I mean, hey...it's along offseason what with the economy and all and now Lamar is on crack. I think we're all feeling the pressure. Just be nice to each other and enjoy some time off. We'll hit it hard in a cpl weeks.

People are free to dislike other posters, but I can't see the necessity of this post. If it serves no purpose to the thread in any way shape or form then why do it? Just send her a PM so that the rest of us don't have to read it.
And yeah, the loooong August/September NBA basketball blues can get the best of us.

Im pretty sure his child died a couple years ago and not long after his cousin was shot. Then the next day a 15 yr. old kid(pedestrian) died when Odom's car hit a motorcycle.
Im not a fan of the guy but I hope he gets some help.

WITNESS: Lamar Odom Heckled in Jail
http://www.etonline.com/news/137881_...ail/index.html
By ETONLINE STAFF August 30, 2013
Following Lamar Odom's arrest on Friday, ET caught up with one of the inmates who briefly shared a holding tank with the former Los Angeles Clipper.
"He seemed really embarrassed," said 22-year-old Stephen Bates, who had been arrested and released for a vandalism misdemeanor. "A lot of people were making Lakers jokes and kind of giving him a hard time. He didn't like that at all."
Odom, who was being held on suspicion of drunken driving, spent seven seasons as a Laker before being traded to the Dallas Mavericks and most recently to the Clippers.
"All the [correctional officers] in there are also making jokes about him still, right now," Stephen told ET outside of the Van Nuys jail.
The NBA champion was pulled over in the San Fernando Valley around 3:54 a.m. by the California Highway Patrol, and was released on $15,000 bail around 8:30 a.m. Pacific.
Police say the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was unable to perform a field sobriety test and refused any chemical testing. Even if he's found not guilty on the DUI allegation, he will still lose his license for one year. He is expected in court on Sept. 27, 2013.

So Lamar is famous for his Kardashian affiliation now? Sad state for a basketball player (or any human, really)...

Odom close to a deal with NYK for next year.
http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/stor...nt-sources-say
23mill for Amare
15mill for Chandler
12mill for Bargnani
6mill for JR Smith
4mill for Felton
2mill for Artest
Min (?) for Odom
-------------------
62mill, which puts them over the cap even if Carmelo walks away for nothing.

Lamar Odom use to be a good player. If he showed that he cared or mentally handled his off the court issues, he could have helped Mavs 2 seasons ago. He was coming off a 6th man of the year season, and we traded a 1st round draft pick for him, he fucked it up. Instead of being a 7th seed in 2012. I think Mavs would hav been a 5th seed. That season we had Kidd/Dirk/Terry/Carter/West/Marion. U add a focused Lamar Odom on that squad. That team is scary

35 years old and been on his BarcaLounger for two years. He's done and a waste of time.

So Lamar Odom might have just died. He's been airlifted to a hospital here after being found unconscious in a brothel in Pahrump, NV(small town outside of vegas)

Sources at the Love Ranch tell us ... 35-year-old Odom arrived at the Ranch Saturday and was partying with the girls for days. A source at the Ranch said Lamar was taking an herbal substitute for Viagra.
We spoke with Hof ... who tells us Tuesday afternoon, a woman went into Odom's room in the VIP suites and found him unconscious.
We're told the woman began screaming for the manager -- who called 911.
The manager rolled Lamar over on his side and saw "mucus-type liquid coming out of his nose and mouth."
An ambulance took Lamar to Pahrump hospital, where doctors intubated him ... an indication he could not breathe on his own.
We're told Lamar is being airlifted from the hospital to Las Vegas for more treatment.
Our sources tell us, "It's not good."
We're told Lamar had been partying at the ranch by himself -- with no friends or entourage -- and is now alone at the hospital.
The ranch staff says they want to be in the room with Lamar but since they're not family they're not allowed.

The fact that the media doesn't know what his condition is is scary. I feel like stories like that almost always end with the person being brain dead. I can't stand the man, but I sincerely hope he's okay.

I hope he pulls through and starts living a drug-free life. Do you want to blame him for taking drugs or blame the drugs for destroying his life? I just feel sorry for him.

Hes had a lot of bad things happen to him in his life recently sad to see him go down the spiral to deal with it. Not that I could imagine being in that position. As far as basketball I never liked him.

Well, he's conscious and breathing on his own, plus he spoke a couple words... Still a doofus though.
