@ramonashelburne: Clippers have engaged the Nets on S&T talks involving Paul Pierce.

While I think the Lowry deal is pretty fair for both sides, I would just like to comment that this past season has been the only one in which Lowry has looked like a player that deserves that kind of money.

That's what people in the old west call a contract year.
However, if Casey and Toronto are sold on him, then I suppose he might have taken a step forward.

Darren Collison 3/16 with the Kings...yep, Harris gonna demand 4-5m.
So the Kings prefer to pay DC 5.3m instead of giving IT 8m?

Darren had the better year, plus he's younger and doesn't have Devin's injury history, so I don't think Devin's agent is going to be able to point to this deal and say: that's what we should get. As contract precedent this doesn't worry me too much (then again, I waved goodbye to the 3/9 figure a while ago).
Not quite the same thing, but as with Lowry/Vasquez, another sign that the RFA PG market might actually be open for business this year.

@MarkDeeksNBA: Using the full non-taxpayer MLE on Collison, as it seems they will, will subject the Kings to the hard cap of circa $81 million.

@ESPNSteinLine: Name of one target Miami is trying to secure for LeBron has emerged: Sources say Heat making push for perimeter specialist Anthony Morrow.
@ESPNSteinLine: Word is both Heat and OKC Thunder are chasing Morrow. As was Orlando, I'm told, until Magic secured their deal with Ben Gordon as well

@WojYahooNBA: Chris Kaman has reached agreement on a two-year, $10M deal with Portland.
@WojYahooNBA: The second year of Kaman's deal is a partial guarantee.

@ESPNSteinLine: Story soon to hit online: ESPN sources say Rockets will turn attention to trying to pry Chris Bosh out of Miami IF Melo passes on Houston
@ESPNSteinLine: While Houston holds out hope it can still win Melo Sweepstakes, ESPN sources say Rockets have already let Bosh know they're still huge fans

@GoodmanESPN: Patrick Patterson has signed a 3-year, $18 million deal with the Toronto Raptors.
@ZachLowe_NBA: That's probably market price for Patterson, basically. Raps will have hard time bringing back Greivis and finding significant wing.

This is the first FA agreement that stings a bit...
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA · 10m
Free agent Spencer Hawes has reached agreement on a four-year, $23M deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources tell Yahoo.

@ramonashelburne: Confirmed Y report on Hawes to Clips. Wonder what that means for DeAndre Jordan or Jamal Crawford's extension chances

I find it funny that Ramona Shelburne feels it's important to confirm Woj's scoops. Which probably just means that I pay way too much attention to all of this.

TBH I've never wanted Hawes at all. Doesn't rebound, doesn't play defense (Synergy ranked him 454TH! in total defense last year) and for a center, he is historically inept at drawing fouls. Maybe he'll hit a few shots to help them win a couple of games, but that won't offset the number of games that he barely has any impact on the outcome at all. He's a novelty act if you ask me.

spreedom - agree with your assessment of Hawes defense.
Check out his offense.....
35 percent of his shots last year were threes and he knocked down 44.8 percent of them.

Thoughts on taking Jarrett Jack off the cavs hands? Decent defender and scorer. If they throw in Varejao I'd do it. That would give depth at center and the backcourt.

@ESPNSteinLine: ESPN sources say Brooklyn Nets on verge of acquiring Jarrett Jack from Cleveland in three-team deal
@ESPNSteinLine: Boston is third team in deal will acquire Tyler Zeller from Cleveland as well as future first-rounder and Marcus Thornton from Nets
@ESPNSteinLine: Three-team trade will see Nets acquire Jarrett Jack and Sergey Karasev from Cleveland. Boston gets Thornton, Zeller and a first
@ESPNSteinLine: Celtics' willingness to facilitate trade enables Boston to pick up Tyler Zeller and a future first-rounder in addition to Marcus Thornton
@ESPNSteinLine: Cavs will obviously have to take back future second-rounder of some sort to seal deal but Cleveland obviously doing this solely for space
@WojYahooNBA: As @ESPNSteinLine reports, Cavs unload Jack/Zeller/Karasev in 3-way. Asked Cavs official: Still in it for James? "I believe so," he says.

Apparently they are under the assumption that LeBron wants to sign there. If LeBron stands them up, then he may not only be the biggest NBA villain of our time, but he may be the biggest villain of all time.

@KBergCBS: League source says Cavs' cap-clearing trade today is not LeBron-or-bust. Cavs have space and attractive situation even if LeBron says no.
