This are great news for us, another potential FA target next summer for our 10-15m cap. The market gonna be pretty small, even if Monroe isnt the best fit with Dirk, good to have another FA option.
Rondo
Dragic
Afflalo
Asik
Monroe
Gasol (Knicksssss)
LMA and Love arent going anywhere....same with with Jordan
Millsap/Green no need

If we get him next year, you'd have to imagine we won't be thinking about how he plays with Dirk. He'll probably only share one significant year with the Dirkster.

Carmelo Anthony Taking $62M Advance On Five-Year Contract
by Nick Solari http://nesn.com/2014/08/report-carme...year-contract/
Carmelo Anthony might be losing some weight during the offseason because of his diet, but his pockets are only getting fatter.
Anthony signed a five-year, $124 million deal to remain with the New York Knicks in July, and is taking an advance payment of over $62 million — 50 percent of his contract — according to Wall Street Journal sources.
The total advance is the maximum amount the seven-time All-Star can take under league rules. The contract he signed to stay in the Big Apple is the fourth largest all-time, trailing only Kobe Bryant, Jermaine O’Neal, Kevin Garnett and Rashard Lewis in amount.
Anthony started a venture capital firm days after his new deal, which could be the reason for taking so much of the money upfront.
He isn’t the first player in the league to take a 50 percent advance on his contract. In fact, he’s not even the first to do so on his team. J.R. Smith took a 50 percent advance on his $18 million deal last season.
And while Anthony insists he returned to New York to win a championship under team president Phil Jackson, you can bet he’s not complaining about his new abundance of cash, either.

hearing a lot of Bledsoe trade rumors - I don't think the Mavs are in that race - but the idea intrigues me.

I woulda thought the most likely thing for him would be accepting the QO and hitting the market as an UFA next offseason, but there was an article a few weeks ago about how he hadn't even talked with the Suns since the end of the season. That's pretty tough and sends the message perhaps that he doesn't want to return there. SnT or QO/Trade seems most likely. I doubt it'll be here, but he'd probably be pretty good next to Ellis with his D, rebounding and energy. Not the best height, but good strength to defend either position. Most likely he'll go to the Lakers or Wolves. Wolves would definitely be interesting. I don't know what they'd have to trade though.

Carmello just told reporters that his decision to stay in New York was "close"
Why even say that? It's like having a rocky relationship with someone, deciding to get married and then at the reception telling all of your guests that you were really close to dumping them.

Clippers trade Jared Dudley and a protected 2017 first-rounder to the Bucks for Carlos Delfino, Miroslav Raduljica and LAC's own 2015 second-round pick.
Fair deal... selling kinda low on Dudley.

Marc Stein: ESPN has learned that Oklahoma City is trading Hasheem Thabeet to Philadelphia.
The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired a trade exception and a 2015 protected second round draft pick from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for center Hasheem Thabeet and cash considerations, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti. The Thunder will have one year from today to utilize the trade exception. NBA.com - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.7jQHo2Q9.dpuf

Thunder are sending enough cash to Philly for the Sixers to buy out Thabeet. Apparently they're hoping to get a couple of assets from the Knicks in trading for Amar'e or Bargnani.
OKC gets a trade exception and gets a little more breathing room under the luxury tax.

**** Erica posted this already in another thread - so just an extra note here.
Kings trading Jason Terry to Rockets
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources...212411030.html
The Houston Rockets have reached an agreement in principle to acquire Sacramento Kings guard Jason Terry, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Terry had been a longtime rival of the Rockets with the Dallas Mavericks, and a move to Houston promises to escalate what has become an increasingly fierce rivalry between the teams this summer.
Terry, 36, spent eight years with the Mavericks before signing a 2012 free-agent deal with the Boston Celtics and moving onto Brooklyn and Sacramento in trades in 2013 and '14, respectively. Terry was the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year in 2009 and 2011.
The Rockets will send a package centered on non-guaranteed contracts, including Alonzo Gee, that the Kings can ultimately waive and gain salary savings and roster space, league sources said. Sacramento will send Houston two second-round picks in the deal, including one via the Knicks, league sources told Yahoo. The trade could take some time to officially complete, based on restrictions of contracts in the deal, league sources said.
Sacramento had been trying to unload Terry and his $5.4 million expiring deal, and Houston had been searching for a playoff-sturdy guard to join its bench.
The Rockets lost restricted free agent Chandler Parsons to the Mavericks in July, a year after beating Dallas to free-agent center Dwight Howard.

Twolves offering Eric Bledsoe a 4 yr, 63 million contract. Now Suns are looking to keep him. One way or another Bledsoe is going to be cashing in BIG TIME.

Celtics, Lakers, Knicks, 76ers only have one top-100 player on their roster according to ESPN
We have Ellis (84), Tyson (37), Dirk (26), and Parsons (58)
The list is pretty terrible, but goodness, those four teams are going to be awful

Also, Nikola Vucevic signs a 4yr/$53M extension with Orlando. Decent value for a pretty consistent double-double guy... especially in the last two-to-three years of the deal when the new CBA takes effect. That's probably going to be the equivalent of $7-9M... great value for a legit top-10 center.

Really don't think he's a top 10 center.
