NBA Season 14-15: General Thread
Opening night, the pelicans FC as expected really nasty.
And this is just so wrong:

rockets trending toward 82-0
Mavs trending toward 0-82
But seriously, Mavs probably played the best team in the NBA tonight and the Lakers very well could be the worst team in the league this year. The odds are pretty good that they will at least win the fewest games in the West.

Lakers trending to...maybe 18 wins if they are lucky. Damn they suck ass. Nice to see Kobe going out in a lottery team his last two seasons.
Nice balanced roster too. The FC includes five PF (Boozer, Hill, Randle, Davis, Kely) and Robert Sacre, trololol

the game has passed by the Lakers coach Byron Scott.
Lakers only shot 10 3-point shot attempts (made 3) - won't work in todays NBA.
Rockets shot 29 3-pointers - made 12

While I don't completely disagree that Byron Scott isn't the smartest coach in the NBA, I do think that it's a little unfair on him. That team has about no one with range. It's a roster issue as much as anything. Isn't Lin is the best three point shooter (at 36%)?

Anyone remember how Pecker-ov was going to build a super team and win it all?

I was really hoping that we would find a way to get Aski...guys a huge body and covers a lot of stuff up. Davis and Asik is probably one of the best...most perfect fits I have seen in a while ...they will destroy teams through out the season.

Yeah - I agree with your statement being a bit unfair to Scott. It's hard to shoot 3's if there is no one capable. Although Scott did say going into the season that the team was going to focus on attacking the rim and not rely on the 3 point shot.
So who failed to fill the roster - Kobe? Buss? Scott? all of the above??
3 pointers in last nights 20 point loss to the Suns...
Lakers - 4 of 13 30.8%
Suns - 16 of 32 50%

Cancel the parade, Cavs just lost to the lowly Knicks... 0-1, with a trip to Chicago tomorrow for a B2B.

Bring out the Kleenex. Westbrook with a broken hand. Ouch for the first 3-4 weeks of OKC.

Kobe definitely deserves most of the blame for the Lakers' sorry state. This article pretty much sums it up.

I'm obviously happy with our team, but I really liked Isaiah Thomas during free agency. He has been pretty amazing the first two games.

Are the Kings that much better this year or are the Clippers getting off to a slow start?

I think it has more to do with the Clippers' offense... it's terrible. They're shooting 43% as a team(!) and Doc's offensive sets look like a dumbed-down version of Scott Brooks' playbook. And that's with arguably the best PG in the league running things.

tweet from espn's Tom Haberstroh
Entering season, Kobe needed 99 misses for all-time mark. More than halfway there after 4 games. 50 misses already.

for the 0-5 lakers.....
Kobe - 44 min played; hit 14 of his 37 shot attempts in loss to Suns.
He took 42 percent of his team’s total shots - wow
oh yeah - he had 1 assist
(I know small sample size) but Lakers defense this season is 9.5 points per 100 possessions WORSE than last season under Mike D’Antoni

Pretty shocked at how bad Lance Stephenson has been so far. He's extremely versatile and a great rebounder, but the scoring is in the dumps.

I can't wait for the Rockets to play a real team. I don't count the Heat, despite their current record.

I'm not shocked at all. It's why I was so glad we got Parsons on our plan A and not Lance for plan B. The dude is a competitor, but plays with emotions. Mess with the emotional content and you get a trainwreck like Odom.

I can't believe the Cavs got smoked last night by Portland. What is their issue on that team? They have a great group of guys, I guess they haven't gelled yet.

gelling, coaching, LeBron suffering from conditioning and lack of strength, lack of a solid PG, two guys that need the ball to be successful (James and Irving). One can only hope that it's also an ego issue.

futhermore...
Lakers have lost by a total of 68 points in their first four games. Not only is it the worst four-game start in franchise history, but it's the worst start for ANY team in the past six seasons. How the mighty have fallen.

The whole world including Kobe predicted this. That's why Kobe is free to take 40 shots a game because it really doesn't matter.

Even against the bad teams the Rockets have played, they have done better than other supposed playoff teams like the Clippers and Mavs. The Rockets are much better defensively and have gotten the malcontents out of the locker room and replaced them with veterans with rings.

Ariza looks good so far. But the Rockets have less depth than most teams. All it takes is one injury to one of their top players, and they are through. By contrast, the Spurs, Clippers, Mavs, Warriors, and Blazers are all capable of filling in for a top player getting injured.

If I were a Rockets fan I'd be enjoying Ariza's run of unsustainable productivity right now, too.

You don't think he'll average 18ppg on 58%/60%/90% for the whole season?

I wouldn't go to a Rockets forum and troll because I really don't care how they are doing.

Asik because he pouted once Dwight signed and missed many games to "injuries" and he didn't want to play. Parsons because he believed he was equal with Harden and Howard and spoke too much to the media saying the wrong things. I don't think Lin really was, but Parsons and Lin were like that little couple in a big group last year. The team seems more focused this year, while still having a good time versus the party atmosphere last year.

He won't average 60% from 3, but he could average 40%, which is still elite.

Not true, aside from the Spurs. I'm not seeing how the Rockets are different than those other teams.
