Only interested if he gets bought out. Don't see teams trading for his contract.

He has no place on the roster. Zero interest.

What use does him being "big" have when he can't defend or rebound?

Trade deadline is coming up - get ready to see report after report of the Mavs showing interest in virtually every player that teams are looking to move...
As far as Martin? I'm not really sure how he fits on this team as currently constructed - seems like we'd have to ship either Harris or Barea to accommodate, and I don't see that happening in this case.

This whole season, it's like Dallas is interested in everyone. Lol. I saw reports online that Dallas will be interested in Amare if the Knicks buyout his contract.

The funny thing, this whole season, Dallas haven't really had a legit backup shooting guard. Haven't really paid much attention to Kevin Martin since he was on OKC two seasons ago. Has had a reputation of being a bad defender, but can score off the dribble or catch and shoot situations. Because of the Rondo injury, I don't think Dallas can afford to trade either Devin or J.J for K-Mart. (I don't think Timberwolves wil take J.J back anyway. Lol).

He's not a terrible rebounder for a sg - 3.8 boards per game. And I think the Mavs can coach him up to be a decent defender.
For a backup SG he'd be pretty good

Do you guys think Rondo and Martin would work well in the backcourt? (Hypothetically speaking)

Amare is not known as a defensive stalwart yet most fans seem to want him here.
In fact few of our players are known for their defense before they come here and most of them buy into our defensive scheme and they have most of their shortcomings hidden

Yeah, defense is an aspect of the game that is far more team-driven than offense... And since Wright got shipped, we've needed more offense than defense with the second unit anyway.
Amare would fix a lot of what's wrong with this team... Plus, JO could help bolster the defense when Tyson sits.
EDIT: just noticed this is the Kevin Martin thread. Still not sure how he'd fit with this team unless Harris or Barea got shipped out (which I wouldn't want to do, since both of them seem to be good fits in RC's system - a team can only handle so much change mid-season).

If Martin had enough games to qualify his 3 pt% (42%) would be 13th in NBA. He'd be second on our team behind Jefferson
We could always use someone who can hit a 3 - especially if the "price" is Felton/Smith. Minny ain't getting much more than that from anyone else. No other contender needs a 3 pt threat as much as we do.

Amare is big. The Mavs have a lack of size off the bench. They don't have a lack of guards who don't play defense, like Martin.
Martin's a good enough player, but I don't see where he fits in this rotation, 3PT shooting aside. I say no thanks as well.

The only scenario i could think of is you bring him in to start with Rondo to have a legit 3point threat besides Parsons and make the spacing better with Rondo on the floor.
You could then bring Ellis with the 2nd Unit to destroy other teams and have him handling the Rock most of the time.
Not sure if this works out but i cant think of Barea/Harris, Martin, Charlie V, Jefferson together on the floor.
Defense would be exposed even more than normally.

I know this probably won't happen, but imagine we'd acquire Amare, O' Neal and Martin while only giving up Felton/Smith and maybe some other bench player other than Harris/Barea/Aminu (let's say Ledo).
I would be going nuts!
The amount of talent on this roster would be spectacular.
Nowitzki
Chandler
Parsons
Ellis
Rondo
Stoudemire
Martin
Harris
O`Neal
Aminu
Barea
Jefferson
Powell
Villanueva
Our bench would be so much better than now!
I don't see the Martin trade happening though. I don't think he would accept a bench role. He averages over 20 points a game so why would he be happy with coming off the bench? On the other side, if the Wolves traded him, would he even be able to have a word on where he is going?
My opinion on Martin is: get him if possible! Our bench needs scoring and he surely can do that better than anyone on our current roster!

Didn't Martin come off the bench with OKC?

Ellis is too good to come off the bench. Martin would obviously be Ellis's backup. And he might have to share minutes with Harris as the backup SG when Rondo comes back.

I like the idea of adding a player with Kevin Martin's offensive skillset, but as others have pointed out, where do those minutes come from? Does that bump Harris to strictly PG duties and Barea to the end of the bench? Or does Martin play the bulk of his minutes at SF in three-guard lineups? I'm not sure I like his fit defensively in any type of lineup.
Someone else brought up Afflalo... where do I sign?
