Dojo found a team. The Springfield Armor...a team last in their D League division. Yikes.

Sounds like a good place for him. If he ever develops a jumper, he'll be on the radar and will hopefully get some burn with a bad team. I wish him all the best. He played hard and seemed like a good guy. He just had very little offense when playing against bigger, stronger NBA teams.

Kind of shoots holes in the "reason" the Mavs waived him. I think the guy has something to offer an NBA team. Hustle, energy, good man to man defense and can penetrate and kick out to the open man. Can't finish or shoot and never will but a team can do worse for a guy sitting on the far end of the bench.

He didn't want to be assigned to the Legends by the Mavs but signs with another D-League team... cool.

There is a difference between "being assigned" to and finding out that is the only avaliable gig.
DoJo found out that he had no choice on the matter when there isn't another place to play in the States. Now if he wants to go overseas next year, he can definitely do so. But at the moment? It is the only option.
(Oh and it aint like he was going to be a Mav next year anyway.... they didn't pick up his option...)

From hoopshype.com/rumors
Quote:
Alex Kennedy: Some NBA teams are interested in Dominique Jones. He played very well in China, averaging 36.8 points, 8.4 assists, 7.8 boards, 2.7 steals. - Twitter @AlexKennedyNBA
A number of teams are intrigued and are curious to find out. It seems Dominique Jones may finally get a second stint in the NBA, as several teams have expressed interest in him (including the Washington Wizards). The 26-year-old is extremely talented, and could provide some backcourt depth for a team if given an opportunity. - Basketball Insiders

Good on him. I know it's China, but those are still big numbers. Would like to see his progress in the NBA if he ever gets the chance to comeback.

Those are pretty good numbers, but I wonder about the quality of play in China... Michael Beasley just averaged 28.7 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 5.2 APG, 1.9 SPG on the same team that Bernard James played for. And it's not like they were tearing it up either - Shanghai Dongfang finished with a 17-21 record.
I'm thinking it's probably just as easy to stat-pad over there as it is in the D-League (which was the last place DoJo put up big numbers...)

36 points a game is good for any league.
Dojo is just like Waiters though...combo guards that can't shoot. They just don't fit in today's NBA.
