Default Mavs and "cast off" lotto picks

It seems like for whatever reason the Mavericks do a great job of taking "cast off" lottery players that ended up not working on their former teams or were never developed enough to be re-signed and turning them into vital assets.

We saw this with Brandan Wright (8th overall pick in 2007), with Corey Brewer (7th overall in 2007) with OJ Mayo to an extent (3rd overall pick in 2008), and now Aminu may get his chance to shine (8th overall in 2010). Hell, when all is said and done, Charlie V may end up playing a big role for this group. He was the 7th overall pick in 2005.

Anyways, what other "cast offs" out there from previous drafts do you think could be had for little to nothing and be great fits for this team? Maybe someone who had high praise but for whatever reason never lived up to the hype.. Also, this is probably why the mavs tread first round picks like theyre not worth anything; one persons garbage is another persons treasure.

I'd love to see what RC can do with Thomas Robinson personally. Hasn't been cast off yet but he's barely playing in Portland so a guy can dream.

Would love to have RC work with Thomas Robinson...that's who came to my head immediately when I opened this thread.

Wanted Ed Davis, badly, this last off season.

Have wanted Sean Livingston since he came back from tearing up his knee.

Tyrus Thomas has always intrigued me. Anthony Randolph has always intrigued me.

And, while he may not be considered a bust (yet)...i'd love to see RC with Rubio.

Wonder what the Wolves would pay us to take Bennett off their hands?

Although I'm a huge Jayhawk fan and love Robinson I don't see what he would bring that Aminu doesn't give us. He is just way too undersized for his position. He's listed at 6'10" but isn't anywhere near that height...6'7" is probably a stretch. He just played much bigger in college.

Robinson actually has pretty good per-36 numbers (12/12) - I wonder why he hasn't developed over the past couple years?
