GDT: Mavs vs Nets (first game after the clash)
I trust Rick and Rondo. I expect Rondo with a great game. Nets are b2b, so no excuses.
Quote:
Once a target to join the Dallas Mavericks, Deron Williams is back in the starting lineup for the Brooklyn Nets these days.
The Dallas-area native won't be the point guard in the spotlight Saturday night since Rajon Rondo is returning for the Mavericks.
Rondo will be back from a one-game suspension following his clash with coach Rick Carlisle as the Mavericks look to end some recent home woes against Williams and the Nets.
Dallas (39-21) suspended Rondo for Wednesday's 104-87 loss at Atlanta after he and Carlisle exchanged words the night before in the third quarter of a 99-92 home win over Toronto. Rondo was benched for the rest of that contest.
Rondo, averaging 8.3 assists to rank among the NBA's leaders, will start Saturday. The four-time All-Star will be a free agent after this season.
"I'm going to do what's best for the team and play my heart out for these next 22 games we have left and make a run in the playoffs," Rondo said.
Carlisle didn't want to discuss the matter further.
"I'm done talking about it, our other players are done talking about it," the coach said. "It's over."
Rondo will match up with Williams, who is averaging 13.3 points on 37.9 percent shooting while starting the last four games -- the first two because Jarrett Jack was injured for Brooklyn. Jack is back but Williams -- who hails from nearby The Colony, Texas -- has remained the starter.
Williams went 2-8 in games at Dallas during his time with Utah. He has gone 3-0 at the American Airlines Center since joining the Nets, averaging 19.3 points and 7.0 assists.
Brook Lopez missed last season's 107-104 overtime win at Dallas. The 7-footer turned in 38-point efforts in each of the Nets' previous two visits.
"They're hard to play," Carlisle said. "Deron Williams is back. They got Lopez and Thaddeus Young and Jack coming off the bench. I mean those guys are starters in this league."
Dallas was without three other players Wednesday -- center Tyson Chandler (hip contusion) and forward Chandler Parsons (left ankle) were out injured, and forward Amare Stoudemire was rested. Parsons remains out while Chandler and Stoudemire will likely be back.
The Mavs ended a three-game overall slide in this series with a 96-88 overtime win Jan. 5, in which Williams sat out for the Nets. Rondo made 1 of 13 shots for two points, though he had 14 assists and 10 boards.
"We had to scramble to beat 'em, we got lucky," Carlisle said. "Joe Johnson had a shot at the (regulation) buzzer that happened to miss that gave us some life. In the overtime, we were able to get over the hump."
Brooklyn (23-33) seeks to avoid a third straight loss to close out a five-game trip after Friday's 102-98 defeat to Houston. The Nets led 86-78 with 7 minutes left.
Williams and Mason Plumlee each scored 15 points and Lopez added 12 and 12 rebounds.
"We felt like we kind of gave that one away," Williams said. "That was our game to have and we just made a couple of mistakes and we didn't get a stop when we needed it." The Nets have the NBA's fifth-worst record in the second half of back-to-backs at 3-10

Rondo returns with a vengeance to show haters that he is an offensive force to reckon with... his triple-double (20 points-15 assists-10 rebounds) shuts the world up....
Mavs - 106
Nest - 98

Mavs should get some good looks at three pointers, but need to improve on their most recent 16% three point shooting debacle.

Why am I loving Devin Harris more and more when I already really liked him? Nothing to do with that last shot to end the quarter but as soon as he checked in, he was making plays (two quick assists that led to a Nets timeout). The dude really gets his role, embraces it and delivers.

If the game ended right now the Mavs would take the win 26-23. How would you feel about a 26-23 win? I'd be happy that we won, but this would bring up so many worries about their pacing and their offense. Also it'd make me think that the other team flat out sucked to only score 23 points. It'd definitely be a combination of them sucking and the Mavs playing awesome defense. But both teams scoring under 30? I'd say that they had an awesome time the night before more than likely.

Imagine how the Mavs would be doing if the Chandlers were healthy.

A die hard Mavs fan buddy of mine at work said that one of his favorite NBA players has been Rajon Rondo ever since he won his title with the Celtics. He hopes that things work out with him in Dallas. For his sake I hope they do as well. I want another ring this year! Also welcome to the game Charlie V! He's my favorite new Mavs this year, and no Mav is taking that away from him. I already love Amare, but dude... Charlie V has touched our hearts like no other player out there.

I liked this one even more than the All-Star dunk. He's getting better with each dunk. Soon we'll see a dunk with half his arm in the goal like Vince Carter from the past!

V.2011 didn't really even do that. He was just locked in with his short range jump shots. No one could stop him. He did have some nice dunks though from the Mavs logo on the floor. He punished guys from there. Especially Ibaka!

Also please tell me your story on how you became a Mavs fan. I am very interested in it since you're from Brasil. It is likely very interesting.

sefant77, will you be a Mavs fan when Dirk retires? Or will you potentially be a Hawks fan instead? I don't know if you're just a fan of the teams with Germans or what your story is.

I missed that dunk by Jefferson tonight. That was really nice. I had no idea he was that good of a dunker. I think it's funny how a guy I worked with got into a fight with him. Richard Jefferson's entourage had to back him up and apologized to the guy I worked with when learning that he served the country in the military.

Pretty sure i will stay with the Mavs.
Started in the 90s as Bulls fan. Huge respect for Jordan but i freaking loved prime Rodman, such a monster on the court. Then the Bulls fell apart, Dirk came into the league and bingo.
Im not a fan of Schröder. Cocky as hell and hasnt done s*** so far. But could be also that i lose some interest after Dirk retired, i dont like at all how the league transformed into being guard and flop-heavy. When a bearded homeless guy without any midrange game is able to be a MVP candidate...uargh. Says it all how sh*tty the league became with the rule changes...

Americans spell it offense. Where are you from (edit: Russia I see)? One time I jokingly corrected it as being "offence," not realizing that anyone spelled it that way.
