You'd typically want someone quicker to play second base. Realistically, Beltre could have made the move to second easily enough at one point in his career but not at his current age. Gallo.. He's a great athlete but he doesn't have the quickness to play a middle infield position.
What you might see is Beltre move to first at some point. The Rangers are going to have a problem.. They will soon have too many corner outfielders, corner infielders, and DH's. Not all of them are proven by any stretch, but so many of their top prospects play corner infield and/or corner outfield positions.. Gallo Williams (could probably play a little center) Mazara Cordell Guzman (who's sliding a bit) Rua (although he can play a little second) Plus, you already have Moreland (can play first and corner OF) Hamilton (who can play some center) Deshields (who can play some center) Choo Fielder Blanks (who's probably just organizational filler, but could have upside..was highly regarded at one point) Some of it will work itself out |

Thanks for the explanation, Murphy. If Beltre is moved to first, then I'm guessing you are suggesting trading Fielder?
