I'm sure he had shot a thousand jumpers by then. If you check out his in game highlights, he does get it off much quicker. Still, he seems like a sponge with such things. The big key is whether he can improve his ball handling skills.

Cuban, like Jerry Jones, is a marketing genius.
Probably just received several million more fans.
Brilliant marketing move!!!
Basketball move???? Not so much.

Great presence of mind. I mean, the ref and everybody in the crowd thought there was about to be a brawl -- the guy's teammates even start rushing in... Hell, I've seen seasoned NBA veterans get themselves kicked out of playoff games over these kinds of scraps, and he HELPS THE GUY UP?? Smooth operator.

The reaction of that player who was helped up is priceless. He didn't know what planet he was on when Anderson helped him up.

From everything I've read, seems like this is a sharp dude with great character.
Love that.
Can't get too many smart, high character guys...as long as they can ball.

Guys attitude reminds me of the mos underrated Mav of all time-- Brian Cardinal.
Also, his game looks like Crowder 2.0. That shot chart looks sick. We don't want anyone not named Dirk taking off-balance mid-range jumpers. Love a kid who takes threes, dunks, or lay ups. That's it. Doesn't clog the lane and increases offensive efficiency.

These came from just before his injury, about 2 weeks before it(while being an elite defender). In the neighborhood of 15-17 games so not a large sample size but still.... all aboard the Anderson Express.

I love draft websites. I just hate when people use them to say "guy X was ranked 30, but we drafted him 35, so he's a deal," or "he was ranked 45 and we drafted him 40 so we suck."

Cuban says he sees Anderson getting an opportunity to play a bit while Wes Matthews gets healthy (assuming he isn't ready at the beginning of the season, but apparently there's no hurry to get him back on the floor...)

What I see looking ahead is the mavs running a system pretty similar to the peak Dwight magic or at least having that as an option. Dj as a rim runner surrounded by potentially absolutely elite shooting(btw I saw on nba tv they listed shooting as something the mavs need to acquire, does that seem as crazy to anyone else as it does to me?) I think jordans absolute dominance on the boards allows us to run out a Jordan/parsons/Anderson/Matthews with whomever we end up with at point and/or rj subbing in for Anderson or Wes.
If Anderson's shooting is what it was in college last year this is an absolutely elite shooting team after years of always having at least two players that couldn't shoot a lick on the court at all times.
Also for all the talk of Jordan losing paul, he's gaining Rick Carlisle. No coach in basketball does a better job of using athletic rim runners than Carlisle. He turned brandan wright into an elite offensive option. Jordan is wright plus 40 lb, elite rebounding and near elite defense.

Anderson is one of the few reasons I'd tune into games next season. Just gotta hope Matthews backs out.

After seeing him in action i have to say he is way too limited right now to have an impact right away.
Hes probably 2-3 years away from being helpful for more than some Hustle.
No Ballhandling, Shot looks bad, Limited repertoire of Moves.
Rookies have a hard time under RC, i hope he improves fast.

I thought he played Durant very tight and made things difficult for anyone he was guarding, with exception of a bad play where he gave waiters an and 1 I thought he played good enough on D to show he can contribute now. I still think his shot will be fine when he has players around him who can penetrate and playmake. I don't expect him to do much more than stand in the corner and be richard jefferson on offense right now, and prolly won't shoot as good of a % as that since he was our best last season IIRC. As far as his limited repertoire and bad handles that was known coming out of the draft, if he could create his own shot or was a playmaker on top of his D, physical build, and 45%3pt shooting he prolly wouldn't have been there when we picked him.
Mavs as a whole are 20-88 from 3. If that doesn't indicate how little spacing/ball movement/penetration and kick out there is Idk what will. Harris, Barea and Evans are the only ones with a positive +/- right now through 3 games, and the only reason that means much of anything to me in preseason is because when JJ/DH (primarily JJ since DH is off guard) have been on the floor the ball moves well. The rest of the time the only reason it hasn't looked like total crap is Jenkins has been able to create his own shot.

Ball is 100% in Anderson's court. He just needs to develop that jumper this summer and keep working as hard as he did last season in every minute he gets.
His effort this season was beyond amazing. He rebounded and defended well, too. I just worry about his ability to score.
PER36 vs. OKC - 18.8ppg, 8reb, 2.8ast, 1.2blk, 1.6stl on 46% shooting (only 30.8% from three)

Anderson, Mejri, and Powell all need to put in ton of work this off season and work on their games. This next year will be their chance to step up. No reason for each of them not to become the primary backup at their position with JA being backup for both CP and WM.

Dallas does not feel it's a must to fill the starting vacancy left by Chandler Parsons' departure with a veteran. Justin Anderson is a strong candidate to step into the role after a good finish to his rookie season. "That's a logical next step," a source said. "Internally, we're very comfortable with that."

I agree. Apparently the Mavs do not, since they offered Barnes a max deal.

Even if we sign Barnes we still have around 25-30 min to kick around at the 2/3 Spot.
Simba will cleary be 6th man in that scenario.
