Not only is Lawson not a Free Agent, he's also not very attractive to the Mavs, according to Fisher, who is right about that type of stuff, usually.
I think the other names are all somewhere on the Mavs' list, too.
Beverly is interesting - how much will he cost, I wonder?

I'm nervous. In about 24 hours we may either have some great news or some very poor news.

He almost went there last time. Seems like a good fit for both parties.

Aminu
?
Barea

@espn_macmahon: Mavs concerned that Al-Farouq Aminu will get relatively big offer. If so, they'll try to talk him into deal he could opt out of next summer.
@espn_macmahon: If that happens, Mavs would have Aminu's early Bird rights and could go over cap to give him up to midlevel (which will be higher in '16).

This is why the drafting of Anderson was so important. I just don't have a good feeling about keeping Aminu. However, if we lose out on the big fish, then our chances of keeping him increase dramatically.

Mavs interested in Shumpert....could be choice #3 after Green/Matthews. Or an alternative to keep Aminu (if they prefer Shumpert/Aminu for 5-6 each over Green/Matthews for 12)

Yeah, Shumpert makes no sense with Anderson on board. He provides almost exactly what Shumpert would but with a 3 point shot. I liked Shumpert before the playoffs, but man did he go ice cold with that jumper.

Here's my hope.
Dallas signs DJordan
Dallas resigns TChandler to a Dirk matching deal (8.??M matching years with Dirk)
Dallas resigns Aminu, Barea
Dallas does a SNT with Denver --Ellis / Ty Lawson
Dallas finds another 3&D guy -- not real sure I care which.
Lawson, Barea
Harris, Anderson, ??? (not sure what order here)
CParsons, Aminu, ???
Aminu, Dirk, TChandler, CParsons
DJordan, TChandler, Dirk
Lawson, Harris, Parsons, Aminu, Jordan could be very good defensively and run well.
Dirk, Tyson, Barea would be first off the bench.
Anderson -- who knows what you are getting.
Another one or two 3&D guys and I think you see if it works out. Who knows who, just another good vet off the bench guy who can hit the 3 and play some D.

Just get mo williams in here. No need to overpay lawson or anyone like that. Guy can knock down the three, can score in bunches, you can get him here for relatively cheap in he'll give you veteran leadership.

Not possible, this isnt NBA 2K
Right now the Mavs have under contract:
Parsons 15,3M $
Dirk 8,3M $
Harris 4M$
Felton 4,5M$
Powell 800K $
_______________________
32,9 M $ / 67,1 M $
_______________________
Money left to spend
~34,2 M $
If you give DeAndre the Max you sit with about 14-15M left.
Thats what Wesley Matthews Camp demands.
So yes you can sign Wes Matthews too probably but not Mo Williams+ Aminu aswell.
The Rest needs to be filled with Vet Min Guys. Even Barea said he doesnt take Vet Min.
So you probably look at sth. like
Harris/Felton/(Barea)/Koponen?
Matthews/Vet Min Guy/Anderson
Parsons/Anderson/Vet Min Guy
Dirk/Villanueva/Powell
Jordan/B.James/Vet Min Center
Thats probably the best you can get but that would also be the worst bench in NBA history.
Would be great if Aminu taktes the MLE but i doubt it.

Aminu was an absolute priority until we got Anderson. If Mavs are targeting Green and Jordan as their big off-season acquisitions, Aminu's role is not as critical.
But I'd still love to see them sign all 3 if possible.

Really dont understand why we'd go after Matthews right now. Mavs dont have the money. I see they are all hanging in LA together but financially it doesnt make sense. We'd be essentially going from laughing at the thought of Felton getting minutes last season to possible starting many games the next season. Almost makes me shed tears

Aminu is a 4/3 who can defend and rebound as well as occasionally hit the three.
Anderson is a 3/2 who can defend and hit the three, but won't play PF and wasn't a tremendous rebounder in college.

Its also funny because Matthews (maybe) comes back from the worst possible injury a Basketball Player can suffer. Its even worse than a torn ACL.
90% of the guys that suffered a torn achilles are never going to be the same and hes more expensive than Green.

Right but Anderson is still that off the bench defensive guy in the same Crowder/Aminu mold. And I don't think they're too different since Aminu and Crowder were at odds for minutes last season. Of course, it didn't help that Ellis took most of the sg minutes, and Parsons too most of the sf ones.
And I love to keep Aminu if the numbers work.

@espn_macmahon: Source says Suns, Mavs, Pacers, Grizzlies and Clippers are teams showing most interest in high-flying big Brandan Wright.

Wright could actually be a better backup if DJ does sign here. Though I still would love it if Tyson as our backup.

Tyson Chandler won't be backing anyone up this year -- he's still one of the better starting centers in the league.

This. And he's going to be huge for Clippers or Bucks. Im biased but I feel he propels Clips more because of his great mentality, attitude, and chemistry in the locker room.

Yeah, I'd definitely like to see the Clippers eat Felton's contract if we end up doing a S&T.

I don't buy the shumpert interest, agents know our needs and we have cap space so agents are going to say we have interest in players we don't have. Doesn't make sense to go after a small RFA target.

He can start at SG. Mavs are needing a starting SG. He does have decent defense. Can also spot up and shoot. Is it the hair?

@espn_macmahon: I'm told that Dirk will join Mavs' recruiting contingent in tomorrow's meetings with DeAndre Jordan and LaMarcus Aldridge.
@espn_macmahon: Updated Mavs meetings crew: Mark Cuban, Donnie Nelson, Rick Carlisle, Chandler Parsons and Dirk.
@espn_macmahon: One more in Mavs meetings: Casey Smith, widely considered one of the best athletic trainers in the game. Cowboys will contribute from afar.

But a bid on a RFA ties up your cap space during the waiting period, which means you can't chase any FAs with that money... You only want to go after a RFA when they're your primary offseason target (like Parsons), otherwise you're crippling your ability to make moves.

My gut feeling is that the Shumpert rumors are false, while the Green/Mathews stuff is real. Then again, none of us really know.
I love this time of year. It's better than Christmas.
