He looked pretty amazing on offense in L.A. when Blake Griffin was down with an injury.

Agreed, pretty underrated part of his game and it's not 100% predicated on taking CP3's dumpoffs for dunks.

Young free agents is key here. Or at least guys in their mid to late 20s.

I've been calling them "youngish veterans"... It's more than just youthful promise -- these guys are coming into their prime, but they still have more basketball ahead of them than behind them.

I think this opens the door for some older ones too that will want to jump on the band wagon and possibly sign for the min.
The hard part for Donnie and Chandler is done now as far as I'm concerned, filling out the rest of the roster should be the easy part now.

Jordan turning down the clips 5 year deal was the catapult for him to sign with Dallas. That means he wants to WIN trophies. Pumped for his athleticism on the Mavs!

Singh will not be on the roster. New rule
http://dleague.nba.com/news/nba-dlea...-thames-mcrae/
The Full Draft Rights Rule
“NBA D-League players who are also on an NBA team’s ‘draft list’ may be directly acquired by the affiliate of the NBA team that holds his draft rights. Such players will be able to bypass the usual NBA D-League player selection processes, including the NBA D-League Draft and the in-season waiver wire. The new rule will take effect beginning with the 2014-15 NBA D-League season.
Under the new rule, NBA D-League players who are on an NBA team’s ‘draft list’ will have the opportunity to automatically play for their NBA team’s NBA D-League affiliate both prior to the NBA D-League Draft and at any point during the season. In the case of players who join the NBA D-League mid-season, NBA D-League teams will have 24 hours to claim or relinquish rights to the player whose draft rights are retained by their NBA parent club. An NBA team’s ‘draft list’ consists of players for whom that team holds exclusive NBA contract signing rights.
A player’s status as a draft rights player will supersede any other NBA D-League player rights, except in the case of players drafted into the NBA prior to 2014, in which case returning player rights take precedence over any other player rights for the 2014-15 season only.
Prior to the implementation of the new rule, only certain players cut from an NBA team’s training camp, not those whose draft rights were owned, were eligible to be protected by the parent club’s NBA D-League team.”

@espn_macmahon: Mark Cuban admitted this was a DeAndre or doom summer. Mavs would have gone in tank mode if they struck out.

Why Jordan left the Clippers
Quote:
Jordan gave the Clippers the first shot at choosing a time slot, according to sources, but scheduling the meeting was a chore. All the while, the Mavericks, Lakers and Knicks each gave compelling basketball presentations about how their respective offenses could accommodate Jordan with nifty pick-and-roll sets and, in the Mavericks' case, play calls that leveraged Dirk Nowitzki's range to give Jordan baseline seals and duck-ins. It was everything Jordan had envisioned: A Dwight Howard-size role in an NBA offense.

@MFollowill: After avg 15 rebs/gm in 14-15, DeAndre Jordan joined Rodman, K. Willis, B. Wallace & K. Love as only plyrs to avg 15+ RPG in a yr since 1990

@KBergCBS: @WindhorstESPN cites benefits of LAC sign-and-trade with Dallas for Jordan. In fact, source tells me Clips have approached Mavs about it.
My guess is something involving Hibbert/Ellis, with an opportunity to dump Felton.

This was an ace signing if I've ever seen one. Your low post is locked up. Now we need a point blank 3-point shooter and just defense defense defense. This team should be a defensive team and should think defense first.

Wes Matthews and his .393 career 3P% say hello.

Matthews, parsons, dirk, rj and Charlie v if he comes back + if Anderson really can shoot like he did last year is arguably the best shooting in the league outside of golden state

I've always felt the Mavs try to match up against the team that just win it all. If you look at what they're doing, then you can def tell the GS influence.

It's a copycat league - adapt or perish.

It's the way the league as a whole is going which is why I'm thrilled we got Jordan even though on the surface this is a massive overpay. He is a huge advantage in this league because he's basically impossible to box out. And unlike chandler(whom I love and will never say anything bad about) he can play forever without breaking down.
I seriously think he will average 18 rpg this year

I don't see how a guy that can anchor your defense and snag 18 rpg is an overpay at these numbers.

I just want to make sure we can defend the perimeter and the 3-point shooting. If we can manage that, then I'm not too worried about down low. Wonder if Amare Stoudemire could still be in the plans.
I just want to secure our backcourt, rebound, defend and force teams to be perimeter oriented if at all possible.

I would really like Amare back. He had some stretches where he was doing some amazing things on offense. Having a front line of Jordan, Dirk and Amare kind of gets me just a little tingly.

Isn't Dirk supposed to be our 6th Man this year? I say get Amar'e and make it happen!

While true I'd love to see Dirk come off the bench from time to time just to dominate.

One of deandres biggest strengths is that his combination of size and athleticism will allow him to cover for dirk. No reason to put dirk on the bench.

Yeah, no need for Dirk to come off the bench anymore, and like you posted in the other thread, Deandre surrounded by Parsons, Anderson, Wes, and any PG is a legit way to get Dirk rest.

@ChrisMannixSI: With DeAndre Jordan on board, Mavs now believe they can be a significant player for the biggest free agent prize next summer: Kevin Durant.

I'm not super excited bout going for Durant. I prefer whoever is next down. I just don't want another nail biter like this year while others are passed over.

While we're at it isn't Lebron going to sign another one of those 2 year with opt out option contracts again?
