Aminu-lite for the minimum. Doubt he gets the same burn Aminu did since we now have Matthews and Anderson as defenders but his rebounding/shot blocking/athleticism from the 3 is still something that's nice to have. He needs to get in the gym and shoot some corner 3's though. He has 10 career 3pt attempts lmao. And in college during 4 years he had 33 attempts.

Looks like we are Lin, JJB, CV and Cole Aldrich (hopefully) away from finishing up the roster.

Here's a fantastic write-up of what Evans brings.

I too love the signing, and think he will be a valuable piece.

He really came on at the end of the season for the Jazz. Good get.

He doesn't play much for a terrible team.

Needs to spend the next 3 months watching vids of Marion and Aminu and be told that is him this season.

Great dunker, great rebounder, young, cheap -- any lack of development can probably be attributed to the fact that he played for Utah... Looks like another reclamation project; an Aminu-lite. I'm sure Rick can figure out a way to get the most from this kid.

Don't know much about him, besides he is a pretty damn athletic combo small and power forward. If he can bring what Brandan Wright brought to Dallas, I will not have a problem with this pickup.

I don't know much about him. Hopefully he can do an adequate job backing up Dirk.

I'm not sure how his defense is but if he's going to get burn on this team and for Carlislie he better be a defensive standout or practice on it this offseason. Practice on that corner 3 and your defense and you will make a lot of money in this league.

Yeah, the corner three probably isn't happening with this guy... Positionally, he's an Aminu replacement, but functionally he's really more of a Wright replacement. Evans is absolutely dominant within 6' of the basket -- high-flying dunks, offensive rebounds/putbacks -- but not really the shot-blocker that Wright is.
Although if he can develop some defense within Rick Carlisle's system, then he could definitely stick.

Honestly, at this point I doubt that he's dominant anywhere.

At the rim over his career FG%
10-11: 78.0
11-12: 78.8
12-13: 67.9
13-14: 68.1
14-15: 77.9
He most likely doesn't have touch outside the rim wright does or his instincts to get into creases, but he does rate well by adjusted RPM as a defender last year. This a great potential steal for the minimum off the bench big signing. Much better than some of those name macmahon was throwing out there yesterday.

Not sure how much appreciation we should show, but he showed some. He Tweeted: I want to thank the @dallasmavs for giving me an opportunity. Amazing how much you're able to grow in a year. Great organization!!!

Thanks for keeping the bench warm, Jeremy! Seems like a good guy who just hasn't expanded his game. Enjoyed watching him play in his limited minutes. Best of luck to him!
