@espn_macmahon: Chandler Parsons gets T'd up for arguing a no-call. Might be difference in game. Mavs only down 29.

@espn_macmahon: Mavs allowed a 20-20 game for the second straight night: DeAndre Jordan (23 points, 20 rebounds) followed Kenneth Faried (25/20).
EDIT: 4:28 left in the game.

If you take out Dirk we shot 32%. With him we are 36%.

Is Carlisle trying to get fired for these horrible lineups? It's not even mavs forum complaining. It's in other places online. I don't get it.

This season is toast. Don't see how they salvage. If they make the playoffs it will be just as embarrassing as not making the playoffs.

Yeah I feel like I've been beating this to death this year. It's just so eye popping and it's extremely frustrating. I could understand these lineups if the offense was playing well as clearly they offer very little to no defense. But more times than not we are playing horribly offensively as well. Lee plays really well at the 4, Mejri has played really well any time he has been given a chance. Why can't mejri sniff the floor? Anderson makes the occasional rook mistake but every single vet on this team is making one bone headed play after another. I just don't understand it at all. Like I said in another post, what we are doing isn't working and we are quickly falling out of the playoff picture at this rate. There really doesn't seem to be a reason why we can't try a different approach.
Adding Lee clearly added some sorely needed athleticism, Like what Powell did earlier in the year. Wouldn't hate it at all if we let Simba get a chance. I'd say Powell too but with Lee it's going to be pretty hard to see minutes. Plus Lee can post up and Powell can't do much offensively.

Seems there is disarray from top to bottom. Rick hasn't had a good year. Neither has Wes lolerdz Matthews.
I actually think that is where you could criticize Rick the most. He is only playing Wes because of the contract which I actually think is wrong. He'd never, ever let a young guy get away with such horrid play.

@espn_macmahon: Rick Carlisle after DeAndre Jordan's 23-point, 20-rebound night: "Now you know why we wanted him."

How do you blame the chef when he's given substandard ingredients?

Yeah very valid point. Wes is near the bottom in just about every category for a guy playing 30mins+ a game and yet he leads us in minutes played. He's not even bringing "great" or even "good" defense either to off set it.

Just let Dirk take 30-35 jumpers a game. That's the only thing worth watching.

Who is the rotten meat?
(also, Donnie & Cuban bought the meat...)

At this point I'd argue the entire cow is rotten.
I get that "supposedly" of our best 4 bench players 3 are pg's. But once again RC mentioned transition defense in post game presser... That it needs to improve a lot. How many people here are shocked that our transition defense is poor given the lineups we use? We don't even crash the boards minus the 5 on offense and it's still poor. But the athletic guys who maybe are not offensively polished are sitting on the bench and the guys who supposedly are vets who know their roles have prolly shot us out of more games than in, and even when they are efficient scorers, like tonight, their defense is poor. I'm not blaming RC entirely despite how much I complain about the lineups he obviously will forget more than I will ever know, I as a fan would just like to see something different when this same tired act has only gotten worse it seems.
And Wes needs less minutes. He's been terrible all around minus a game or 2. Like DH said, if this was any other player not named Dirk he would be riding pine by now. If that means Simba gets some mins cool. If that means Felton or DH come in and CP stays more at the 3 and Lee at the 4 and Mejri at the 5 then so be it as well. Why keep running the same lineups out there over and over when they aren't working? Those lineups are entirely focused on getting the offense going and the offense is terrible and RC keeps bringing up the poor defense in post games. Like those lineups playing poor defense is shocking to him somehow.
--Edit--
At this point I don't see the problem with competition. If giving Simba mins gives Wes or CP or the small guards some added motivation then that is a plus. Same with Mejri/Powell/Lee to Zaza or backup 4 mins and whoever else you want to make the argument for. Yet even though their play has been poor(referring more to Wes and Zaza than CP here), it's like there is no danger of them losing their roles.

Fell asleep during the third quarter when the score was around 70-65, woke up during the fourth and it was a 30 point game. At least I didn't have to watch them getting their shit pushed in by the clippers. This team is the fukn worst.

Yea, this...to an extent. He can dropped the ball this season more than I ever recall. I think this roster isn't being used effectively at the same time as you can't bleed a turnip. Too many players that can't defend and too many players that like to shoot the J.

At least Simba can defend all the way to the rim and block some shots. He likes to drive to the bucket too and that is a huge downfall to Wes' game. You don't get the consistency of the 3 ball but when that's all you got, I will take the kid getting an opportunity to inject some fire and athleticism.

Looking at our remaining schedule, we might struggle to be at .500 by the end of the season if we don't break out of this funk soon.
The way it stands now I'd say we'll be lucky to go 9-9 the rest of the way.

I think it's Zaza who should have some of his minutes reduced. He hasn't really played that well lately and has come back down to earth the last few games minus Orlando. Alas, I don't see Rick played Mejri over him.

With Zaza playing more down to earth it makes me think there might be a possibility of resigning him along with another decent starter quality center.

100% agree. It sucks now, and I wish Mejri would get more minutes, but Zaza can still be a great backup, for 6-8million tops, and we can still attract a starting center (fingers crossed). Im (unfortunately) looking to next season as weve been for the last 4 seasons.

I'm wondering how the MLE will work this season with the cap going up so much. I'm under the impression the MLE is only allowed for teams at or over the cap. If I'm correct very few teams, if any, will be over the cap after this season.
If we do have MLE then Zaza would probably be a good candidate.
I could be wrong about the whole MLE rule though.
Also agree about Mejri....would be nice to see if he could be a legit primary backup next season.

Mejri imust develope his body in order to be a primary backup center and to make it through an NBA season. He moves well and runs the floor as well as any 7 footer I've seen. They need to keep him in Dallas and build up his body if he's going to get rotation minutes next year.
