Glad teams didn't give up their picks for him. Russell is overrated.

Jackson
Tatum
Fox

Safe to say, I agree sefant.
Brook Lopez is low key solid acquisition, though. Expiring deal, but I could see him re-signing there, especially if they get their wish with PG.

So the Mavs will be getting one of Jonathan Isaac, Malik Monk, Frank Ntilikina, or Dennis Smith, Jr.
I like that. I like it a lot.

My preference order:
Dennis Smith Jr
Malik Monk
J. Isaac
Frank
Will be happy with any of those four honestly. Id be lying if I said I didnt want the Knicks to draft Frank

As of now I cant see passing on Monk or DSJ. Love Franks defensive potential but man does having an already polished crafty scorer like Monk seem awfully appealing. And Monk just turned 19! in February. He isnt that much older than Frank but looks like prime Jason Terry out there. For me its Issac(may have motor issues but SO much potential), Monk or DSJ then Frank. After that its Mitchell and Collins and then nobody for days....

Smh. Anyone sleeping on this guy is insane to me. The folks that like Mitchell or Kennard or possibly the majority of other players projected in the 10-20 range will soon find out.

And yet he is 24 on draftxpress and 34 on nbadraft.net. He would be a good second pick to acquire, but teams just aren't giving up picks these days.
He could be the next Draymond Green though in terms of being overlooked and his versatility. Speaking of which...fun fact...Draymond Green was chosen right after the Mavs chose Jae Crowder.

Yeah I like him. He looks like what I hoped Simba would turn into if he had anything at all between the ears.

@daldridgetnt: Lakers, per sources, engaged Sacramento in talks that would have sent the 2nd pick to the Kings for Sac’s two 1st-rounders (5 and 10) (1/2)
@daldridgetnt: Lakers would have then packaged one of the Kings’ picks w/27 & 28 along w/player in offer to Indy for Paul George. But Kings said no (2/2).

Those people have it wrong. Quite wrong.
I can see draymond comparison in terms of people sleeping on him and maybe the versatility .. but he's way more athletic and powerful. Corey Maggette on steroids.

Not sure why the Lakers are bent on George now, theres already claims that he stated he is going there anyway as f.a. They wouldn't be ready to compete this year with him. They don't like Ball enough to be patient?

They probably should be patient but there are a few reasons i can think of:
1)There are two teams in LA. One of which just brought Jerry West aboard. And may still have a decent core after this summer. May help explain the Deandre rumours 2)PG could go to another team, Boston or Cavs lets say, and win and like his teammates and stay. 3)Ticket sales would rise. 4)it would make them more attractive to future FA (LeBron)
If Im the Pacers I say either Ingram and filler or the #2 and filler. Period. Otherwise we keep him or trade him somewhere else. In fact, Doc Rivers is whining in our ear on the other line as we speak.

Lakers call that bluff IMO. Truth is Pacers don't have leverage. Celtics are probably unwilling to part with anything major without assurances he'll stay. If I'm the Pacers I take a package of Randle, #27, and #28 and I'm glad I got that much. His value only goes down from here.

Yea, good points.
It's very interesting what stance Indi will take, do they assume his value to them is dropping with his recent interest in going elsewhere and try to move him before he potentially tunes out or increases the talks about not wanting to be there?

You may be right about the position of the Pacers. I hate when players are just as opposite of Dirk as possible. " I know I have a little leverage and I'm willing to hear the boos at home games because I need to exploit the situation, because I am owed an easier chance at a ring". This may be harsh given that I don't know exactly what he has said or how he feels, and slightly to his credit...him going to the Lakers doesn't start a superteam by any means.

Then let them. Their are other teams willing to give you an equally crappy return- even as a rental. I don't reward that kind of disloyalty by sending him to the place he wants to go. Randle is crap. Just send him to Portland for their 3 picks and take Evan Turner back or Meyers Leonard. Tank for next seasons strong draft. Offer him to Boston for Jaylen Brown straight up. Build around Myles Turner and Brown.

It wasn't Jae Crowder that I mourn over, it's the Bernard James right before Crowder, who was before Green. Swing and a miss, Mavs FO.

No that belongs to the Sixers. If it lands 2-5 it conveys to the Celtics as part of the Fultz deal.

And James was such a low ceiling guy anyway. Just a bad pick, could have gotten a 3rd string center with the minimum during FA.
Picking Crowder and Green would have been the ultimate 2nd round homerun for ages

I think the Mavs FO has shown a sentimental streak- all that Sarge crap they fed and maybe bought into. Was Shane Larkin's "pedigree" part of the heinous decision to draft him? Character and pedigree DO count for something. But the better run franchises wont let sentiment sway them so strongly.
Its truly disheartening that it took so long for Cuban to start taking the draft seriously. Its his largest miscalculation- even more so than misreading the "new" CBA back then, as they are part and parcel. Resources should've been poured into scouting. He shouldve hired the BEST scouts and gotten out of their way. Draymond, Gobert, Jokic, Isiah Thomas, Whiteside and many others all proof that every pick should be taken seriously.

They probably could've picked up James as an UDFA too! And they sold low on Crowder after hitting on that pick. The Mavs FO is all over the map- just like Cuban. No governing intelligence or semblance of a plan- still! Ok, maybe finally a semblance- though they undermined that even by not embracing the tank and continuing the youth movement in order to win meaningless games.
Cuban is a seriously flawed, unreliable narrator. Innovative yet always a step or two behind. By turns down to earth and pompous. Thoughtful and off the cuff crazy. I love that he cares SO MUCH and not as a goofy affectation in the manner of Steve Balmer. But he overestimated his own basketball and dealmaking acumen incredibly.

Ok, so then draft positioning shouldn't worry them either in support of your argument to go get PG now, versus any other scenarios potentially affected his supposed desire to play in LA. However, as has been pointed out, it should take much as Indiana's hands are tied thank to his camp.

Dream scenario of DSJ, grab a 2nd rd pick for this guy. His athleticism is mind boggling.

Doubt Smith jr or Isaac are there, but I think the odds have improved a bit. Still got my money on Monk at this point.
However, if Monk is chosen before the Knicks pick at 8, then it will be a very, very good night for the Mavs.

Orlando prolly decides how this draft falls. They can take DSJ and crush my dreams but still leave Isaac and Monk on the board.... of which there is no way at all Minny passes on Isaac IMO. Leaving us with Monk if Knicks take Frank.... or Orlando can screw everything up by trading to a team who loves Isaac, or maybe they pick Isaac and then Wolves by some prayer take Lauri leaving us with a CHOICE of DSJ or Monk.... or we are all idiots buying smokescreens and Knicks take Monk/dsj and we get the 3-4 year project of Frank.
