NBA Free Agency
Let's get the conversation out of last year's general thread...

Just thought of something...
So CP3 is being painted as a good guy for letting LA know he's leaving so they can get something for him. BULLSHIT. He did that so he could opt in/be traded, and retain his bird rights in Houston to get the super max of 5/200m.
If he were to walk in FA, he could only get a 4 year deal.

Yeah it was Doc who did him and the Rockets a favor by trading him. They can flip Pat and Williams for picks I think though so they had to do it.

CP3 relationship with Doc deteriorated with the acquisition of Austin Rivers. Entitled, didnt try to get along, led to resentment that played out during games. Players thought he favored his son.
Proposed trade involved Melo last season was the end of their relationship. Offered jamal crawford, Austin rivers. Doc said no and that pissed CP3 off. He now despises Doc Rivers
Cowherd just read this on air from a league executive.
EDITED because I was typing as he was reading.

Crazy that the teams making all the moves are once again in the West while the East teams are just chilling there content to be swept by Lebron.

Well, at least their bench matches their starting lineup.

The only reason for this trade is Pauls Super Max.
Now i read first reports that the Clippers didnt want to pay him 45m at age 37. Same with Spurs. So now he plays the card "im awesome and inform my team before they lose me for nothing" so he gets his trade to the Rockets and there he gets his Super Max next year. But they had no cap space, thats why the need of a trade.
Paul is really a little bitch. Working hard for his Super Max as NBPA and as player forcing a trade and now he is cashing in

Troll Paul really is one of the worst. One of my least favorites of all time. Hope he never sniffs a ring. Can't wait for the inevitable clash with The Flopping Beard

LOL, we're talking about a guy who hasn't even sniffed the second round in his career.

Yep it took me about an hour to recognize what he did. Once I found out he still had bird rights, it clicked.

FA chatter is starting to warm up on Twitter...
@ESPNSteinLine: League sources: Growing resignation among interested teams that New Orleans comes to terms quickly with Jrue Holiday on rich five-year deal
@ZachLowe_NBA: As of now, the Warriors and Andre Iguodala have no meeting scheduled, sources say. Could change any minute. Sides are optimistic.
@ESPNSteinLine: Deadline Day for the Jazz to use $16 mil in cap space that expires at midnight. As covered here earlier this week, Utah covets Ricky Rubio
@ESPNSteinLine: Hearing Milwaukee optimistic about a deal done fast in free agency w/Tony Snell
@espn_macmahon: Source: Hawks are waiving Mike Dunleavy before Saturday deadline for his $5.2 million to become fully guaranteed. He is owed $1.7 million.
@ShamsCharania: The New York Knicks are waiving forward Maurice Ndour, league sources tell The Vertical.

NO is in a tough spot. No way is Jrue worth that contract, but they have no cap space to chase anyone else. Asik and Ajinca contracts are eating up their cap space.

Marc Stein: I think the Knicks understand it’d be hard for them to get permission to talk to Masai Ujiri. The Raps absolutely DON’T want to let him go – via Twitter ESPNSteinLine
Why is Ujiri such a big name among front offices? Maybe I missed something, but he hasn't done much with Toronto and his Denver teams (I think that's where he was previously) never won shit either.

Impossible to please Cousins.
1) He's hard to make happy,
2) The Pels have a terrible backcourt and no money to upgrade it which is holding the Pelicans back. By throwing a huge contract at Jrue, they aren't even treading water. They're just retaining the only decent part of their backcourt.

@daldridgetnt: Bulls announce they’ve waived Rajon Rondo.
@daldridgetnt: Rondo will receive $3M of the $13.3M he would have gotten for ’17-’18 if he hadn’t been released by today.

Marc Stein: I’m told Minnesota will be get a 2018 first-round pound to trade Ricky Rubio into Utah cap space. @Tony Jones first to report deal happening
– via Twitter ESPNSteinLine
Rubio to Utah for OKC's 2018 1st round pick.

With Rubio to Utah I think that means George Hill is out. Hayward really wanted Hill back, so does Hayward's needle lean toward Boston now? Only suitors I have heard for Hill are the Spurs.

I can't imagine Rubio being the guy that keeps Hayward in Utah.

@ShamsCharania: Blake Griffin plans to reach agreement on a five-year, $173 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources tell The Vertical.
@ESPNSteinLin: The unconfirmed estimate making the rounds on Jeff Teague's expected deal with Minnesota: $55 million over three years
@TimBontemps: Specifically, hearing Ingles could have an offer in the 4-year, $60 million range from the Orlando Magic. If so, hard to see Utah matching.
@ramonashelburne: Add another suitor for Andre Iguodala. Sources tell @ChrisBHaynes and I he's meeting with the Sacramento Kings tonight as well
