You're right. Granted things change once you involve more pieces/teams in a trade. But, I was more speaking to the notion that as a fan, you tend to overvalue your guys; especially the players you admire & identify with. Platoon bats in baseball is just a good analogy because everyone can see the value to your team, but the market value of an average platoon bat is virtually nil.
How much value does a 6-10 PF with a well below average jump shot, a per 36 blocks per game average under 1.0, and no specialized, above average skill have? Literally, a guy like that is a dime a dozen.

I want to see 11 more points from DSJ in the 2nd half.
And I want the Wizards to wake the hell up.

Holy cow! Powell is set to make $9.6 mil next season & $10.3 mil the season after. After seeing this, we should be paying a team to take his salary off our hands. Literally, the only 2 other players signed to the team in the '19-'20 season, when Powell makes $10.3 mil, are Barnes & DSJ. Let's pray we can get rid of Powell by then. No doubt that money could be spent better elsewhere.
Yogi, I'd be fine with moving because his contract is up at the end of the season. I'd be fine with waiting it out & seeing if we can resign him to another team friendly deal too. Kleber I agree. He only costs $815k this season & $1.4 mil next season, so might as well wait & watch him develop.

Actually the Mavs have a $1.7m team option on Yogi next season... I'm betting you got that info off HoopsHype, which is actually wrong (they often are -- check Spotrac for more accurate figures). http://www.spotrac.com/nba/dallas-ma...ferrell-20283/

Tech on Salah, nice to see Dennis in there telling him to chill... The kid is already acting like a leader.
@espn_macmahon: Salah Mejri gets no sympathy from Rick Carlisle after picking up two T's arguing a call and getting tossed. "Get the f--- outta here!" Carlisle shouts as Mejri tries to plead his case.

Actually, I got my information from this site: https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/DAL.html
I was poking around at other team's payrolls on there too. Any thoughts on basketball reference's accuracy when it comes to contract #s?

Lol Rick. Yeah I thought the first one was a little on the ref, still dumb by Salah. He clearly wasn't in the mood from all the Wizards complaining. You could read the lips as all he said was "walk" to Salah, basically refusing to tell Salah what he did wrong which I hate. The 2nd one was all Salah tho.

Bball Reference is great for almost any stat, but they tend to miss salary details like team options and qualifying offers from time to time... Spotrac is always on point.

Looks like the otter has his work cut out for him...
@bobbykaralla: The Mavs have won their last 150 games when leading by at least 17 points after the third quarter. All-time they're 265-3.

Why on earth is Barea getting a tech when Wall walks up to him? What a joke.

Cuban paid good money for the refs to help us tank this season -- they're just trying to earn their paycheck.

Tank watching... We almost got a W from Phoenix tonight. Bulls headed to OT (after they lost a lead & looked like they were gonna take an L)... fingers crossed, Memphis about to pull out a W tonight too!

Mavs have 8 blocks so far tonight... Every non-guard who's logged minutes has at least one.

He drove into the lane and actually looked like he had done it before, that's an improvement on basically every wing we have.

Barnes with a quiet 20/10 double-double... DSJ came up short of another 20+ performance, but 17 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals is nothing to be ashamed of.
Our streak of clutch games dating back to Dec. 20 comes to an end with an exclamation point.

I think the DSJ 360 dunk basically destroyed their souls. It was downhill after that for the Wiz and it never got good.

I'm afraid we'll win and sweep the series.

Smith has already arrived. He no longer hesitates or is unsure of what to do even when he misses shots. The confidence is 100%.

@BallinWithBryan: Carlisle on Dennis Smith Jr.: “I don’t know who’s doing the invitations to the dunk contest, but if they don’t invite him after tonight’s exhibition, somebody’s probably not doing their job very well. In a dunk contest, he would be absolutely spectatular.”

Wizards are a good example of how mediocrity kills. They’ve been in the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years only to lose in the semis. They aren’t good enough to hit 50 wins nor bad enough to get Wall some help. Now all of a sudden Wall is 27 and you have to wonder how much longer he can be successful without a consistent outside shot.
I absolutely dread this happening to us with DSJ.

That's true, and I've always thought the Wizards were garbage every time we played them.
They made a huge mistake matching Porter who is nothing more than a role player.

@Mavs_FFL: JJ. Barea’s response to Wall calling him a midget: "Now I have somebody in the NBA that I don't like. But I don't think his teammates like him either."

How long will you be in town for?
I've only been to one Mavs game well ahead of the tipoff time, and that was a preseason game. I think I arrived about an hour before tipoff. I was able to watch the Hawks' rookies & back of the rotation players do some shooting drills. I remember 2 of their vets were out there going through some stretches & I think ballhandling drills, but nothing exciting. I never saw any Mavs players out of the floor, so they must of got their time in before hand.
I know I did hear Coach Carlisle say on tonight's pre-game radio interview that the Mavs have their team meeting 28 minutes prior to tip off, so Dirk & other vets get 8 more minutes to warm up in the weight room with exercises designed to get their muscles loose. So, you definitely need to be there more than 28 min prior to tip to see the Mavs put in any work. My best guess would be to play it safe tho and be there as soon as they open doors to the public, probably 2 hours prior to tip.
