Dirk listed as probable... Obviously things can change before tipoff, but that's a positive sign after he went back to the locker room with back tightness last night.

...last night was simply the result of the long All Star break and the news fallout... tonight, in spite of the B2B on the road, the Mavs' 23 game win streak undoubtedly begins against the Otters who play with their sax some kind of music that resembles Jazz...
Mavs - 103
Otters who play with their sax - 90

@espn_macmahon: Dirk Nowitzki, whose back tightened up in last night’s loss to the Lakers, is expected to play vs. Jazz tonight.

Mavs playing like they mean it... Shooting 10% from beyond the arc!

Where's DSJ? Seems like he's been on the bench for a while now.

Hasn't played a single minute in the 2nd quarter... Not sure what's up.
EDIT: looks like he's back in now.

Because Barea had played a team-high 32 min at the time DSJ subbed in, and Barea's still just a few weeks removed from an injury

Honestly, if it weren't for the contract, I wouldn't mind Powell staying on board with the Mavs as a role player, like our 9th/10th man. He is an active body.

Jr. looks bad but got to remind yourself two years ago today kid was in high school. The rookie wall is real.
That being said not a fan of “hiding” him on Rubio while Yogi guards Mitchell. You wanna be the best you better guard the best.

Was out so only able to catch the last 5 mins of this game. Some of the worst basketball I've seen.

If Yogi was 6’5” he’d be one of the best players in the league.

Odd choice given they're on the 2nd night of a b2b & they're suppose to be tanking.

Marion was just talking about how DSJ didn't show up tonight on the Mavs post game show. Specifically he said DSJ disappears when he doesn't have the ball in his hands, and then they showed a couple of highlights that were troubling to say the least.
I never noticed this about DSJ. Anybody else seen this trend this year?

Lol yeah. I thought he & Skin made excellent points tho. I hope RC does sit DSJ down and show him some CP3 highlights of him working off the ball with Harden.

Fair enough. It all counts the same in the standings. However, if we're going to get a look at Motley or some of these other back of the bench guys, opportunities are running out. Only 22 games & counting left to have a look.

Mavs have one away game the next seven. Hopefully familiar surroundings will alleviate some of the pain this week has brought.
I’ll say what I think many of us are feeling — I hope DSJ’s play the past few games is more a result of fatigue and/ or minor injuries than apathy. That being said I’m not sure I could blame him for being apathetic when it’s clear where this season is headed.

I can. DSJ hasn't proven anything in this league. The rest of this season is more important for him than virtually any other Maverick, certainly more important that he plays well the remainder of this season for the future of the franchise than any other player...
If you saw the plays they highlighted on the Mavs post game show, DSJ was standing still ala John Wall, not moving on the opposite side of the floor from Barea, on one play with his hands on his knees (4 minutes into the game). Mentally checked out. That's inexcusable. Literally no excuse for that.
And guess what happens... ball pops free and rolls towards DSJ & a Jazz player scoops it up in front of him, where if he had his head pulled out of his ass he would of been able to get down on the floor & recover the loose ball.

Smith hasn't been able to shoot the basketball in a while, and it's definitely concerning. He has a lot of work to do in the offseason if he has any interest in being a consistent player.
I think the bigger issue is the fact that he likes to win and the team obviously isn't doing that. He seems like a guy who is either focused or not focused based on primarily that.

He could be worn out from all the losing too. Hopefully he doesn’t get too discouraged. That’s a possible negative impact from all the tanking.

Dennis might be discouraged by losing, but he still looks tired to me. The kid has no lift in his shot compared to earlier in the season.
And we joke about tanking, but we're not tanking -- we just suck.... Our #1 scorer should be a #2/3 scorer, we have a rookie running point, our best center lives in the doghouse, Curry's "two week injury" has sidelined him for the season, we keep cycling through undrafted players, half of our roster is undersized for their position, and Dirk is one of the oldest players in the league.

You’re 100% right. They do suck. And the ones that actually are good are worn the fuck out, then throw on the constant losing. Id be surprised if they win 3 games the rest of the season.
