Rare that a full sprint will make a huge difference in the NBA and sprinting is something that is equalized by size (length of stride, etc.)
Still, that's darn impressive.
Faster than Westbrook on the break and longest wingspan ever recorded in the NBA combine

I have a feeling CBS Sports' scenario has a decent chance of happening. In that case it will be between Jackson and Porter.
I'm taking Jackson in that scenario.

Don't be surprised at them taking Carter in that scenario. I'm actually 50/50 on choosing between Carter and Jackson. Not as high on JJJ as others are.

Yeah, I have a big concern with Jackson's drive and think he could slip into Rick's doghouse.
I think the physical attributes are there but not sure he'd be a good fit mentally. Rick's favorites seem to have fairly high BBIQs and one of the reasons why I think Bamba would probably be a good fit.
I'm thinking Carter could be available later in the draft and am wondering if a team like Chicago or NY would be willing to move up for guys like Porter or Young possibly leaving guys like Carter or Bridges for us along with more assets.

Jackson and Porter are all about the unicorn factor. Both are more likely to be busts than be anything, but man-- if they turn out, they are superstars.

Ayton now not taking workouts. Has gotten a commitment from Suns according to Ayton
If that’s not a bluff, we’ll have to see how far Doncic falls

That is what is so crazy about Jackson....he's almost the perfect center for the current NBA and has the exact tools we need (stretch 4/5 and play solid D) but I can't get that disappearing act in the tourney out of my head and wonder if Carlisle will have the patience to let him play through his mistakes.

Its not a bluff, watch the Suns press conference with Ayton and you can see literally the boner in the pants of the Suns GM. Ayton is a lock and has the commitment.
Vlade and Vivek just went to spain to see Doncics game (a pretty good one). They are taking him.
I just hope that the Hawks are really so much in love with Bagley. or do something stupid with Trae, since he is working out for them. And then Porter or JJJ to Memphis, i hope..
Im starting to get really annoyed that we moved down. I want the Bamba unicorn potential in a Mavs jersey

If they share the medical report from last thursday with every team it pretty much means its a positive report...more options for everyone ahead of us, specially Memphis.

So only the Bulls got to examine him, and he received a clean bill of health. The same team that recorded Bamba as the fastest player ever in the world. Seems legit.

Count me out on Bamba. The offense is so bad and worst of all he’s not a rim runner which is a maverick staple. He lags on defense a lot too. I don’t know if he’s worth the risk.

Bamba's weaknesses are all fairly readible teaching points. His shot and drive will be up to him to develop and key in on.
I like the KAT comparison for JJJ. Except we can probably already argue JJJ is the superior defender. He will require some patience and endurance of bumps along the road, but I like him a lot.
I'd be happy with either, or MPJ. Just not high on Doncic as a fit for this team. Bagley would be fine, but we'd need to find a way to make him useful on defense.
I think the draft falls:
Ayton
Doncic
Bamba/JJJ
Bagley
Bamba/JJJ
With Porter being the wild card, and potentially a reach for Trae Young.

After scouring the internet, I have finally found a video that if you watch it to the end you can dig up a cpl negatives on Bamba. Take a look

Yeah, his offense definitely isn't his strong suit... But the video does go on to say that he could very well end up being a top-3 pick based on his ridiculous defensive skills alone.

Really liked the combine interview with Bamba where they showed video comparisons of him and Gobert.
Basically, Bamba doesn't have to jump very high off the ground to block shots similar to Gobert. What this means is that you don't have to use as much energy to make defensive plays. He isn't having to sprint, squat, and jump to make a help defensive play. He literally only has to tilt his body slightly and barely come off his feet to block a shot of an attacking guard.

The problems are right now based on his body strength. And since he has the frame and allready added weight, its fixeable.
You could also ask if JJJ is ever able to defend without fouling nonstop. Or asking how many drives Harden is going to need until JJJ is fouled out: 6 or 7?

For this reason I’m starting to think it goes:
Ayton
Doncic
Bamba
Bagley
Leaving us with Carter Jr., Porter Jr., and Jackson Jr.
Pretty tough choice IMO. Carter has the highest floor, Jackson the most potential, and Porter is that badly needed / highly coveted wing scorer.

That's a fair question, but JJJ is still young enough to be in high school... His foul rate is a matter of discipline, not mechanics -- it could be easily fixable with a little more experience (and a guy like Rick Carlisle riding his ass).

His incredible speed on the break and his ability to change a game without doing much is all awesome.
He just can't use any of that if he doesn't actually get back to defend. With Rick, I could see him getting benched A LOT for being lazy. If he's being drafted for defense and he doesn't actually get back to defend, then he's going to have issues with the coach.

Probably. I was basically making fun of Melonhead at Erika's expense.

I can totally see this too. Hard to imagine Bamba hasnt risen, he's been very impressive. Biggest riser, maybe DiVencenzo excepted

I want a late first or another second. 5, 33, and 54 isn't enough! Gonna be some steals with 70-80 "geodes" out there. Probably 12+ stars/starters will be drafted late first and second round. Probably 3-5 players like that undrafted too.

I want Bamba and Divincenzo...
where is Divincenzo slated to go now? I know Brunson was player of the year etc. but just looking at them Donte is a far better athlete and looks to be a good playmaker as well. I see him going in the early 20's now but he'd be a great backcourt mate for DSJ with ups to match and as a secondary ball handler/creator.

This was posted before the lottery, so the projections are off and some of these guys have dropped out of the draft, but these player profiles are spectacular:

Nice find. The Mikal Bridges profile makes him look like a good fit next to DSJ.

Big Mikal guy. It's hard to pick him #5, but he's going to have a long career in the NBA.

Yeah, if we were picking #7 I wouldn't hesitate to pick Mikal -- but with the guys sitting there at #5, we almost HAVE to pick for upside alone... All I know is that whoever ends up getting him is going score an "A" for the draft.

I wonder if Chicago would want to move up two spots and maybe we can work out some type of deal to get #7 and #22.
If I'm not mistaken they have some interest in Porter and Bamba and there is a chance both could be gone when they pick.
I think Bridges would be a really nice fit with DSJ and Barnes and there should be someone decent at #22.

I was pretty high on Carter until I saw DXpress's scouting video on his weaknesses. Lateral quickness is nearly non-existent. Can't have that in today's NBA. Guards will blow guy him like he is standing still.

I would only do this is we would pick Bridges at 5 anyways. If not, go with Bamba, Porter, or Jackson. Surprisingly, Bamba is seeming more like one of the players that has both a high floor and a high ceiling.
