He is 6'10 which is a bit too tall for center these days.

Okay, I think I've figured out the Mavs priorities:
1. PG
2. Brother of highly talented player (e.g. Curry, Greek Freak)
I've got to remember this for next year and research siblings of current players who are scrubs that share some DNA. :-O I wonder if Embid has a brother? /sarc
Yes, this is harsh, but in hindsight, I can't believe I wasted 5 hours of my life watching the entire draft only to see the Mavs do what they did. Such a great draft, and yes, they got a great player, but the cost and then what followed, or didn't follow... :-(

Mavs need more young athletic talent if baby freak spalding along with doncic hit this becomes a fun exciting team
Tje west is still stacked though but 8th seed is possible need another legit athletic big man at center get that and maybe upset city in playoffs as 8th seed

Still kinda shocked that Alkins and McCoy went undrafted.

Brunson is a super smart and competent player. I like Shake a lot but Brunson could be a strong sixth man. Runs a team well and scores incredibly efficiently. Almost 3/1 A/TO and 60% from the field and 41% from three which is absurd.
We still got a huge hole at SG, PF, and C, but Brunson is quality

I’d bet Donnie is on the phone with Alkins. Seems like their workout went well.

LOL! I completely forgot that one. It's a damn shame NBA teams can only play 5 at a time. I'd love to see Rick roll out a 6 guard lineup. :-O

Isn't Spalding the grandson of the Commodore of the country club in Caddyshack?

Meh on Brunson. Backup PGs are a dime a dozen. Best case, Brunson is Derek Fischer without the defense? Or less defensively capable Van Vleet? Would rather see a big swing at 33 and some length and athleticism. Even with DSJ we are slowwww

I'll take smart over fast any day. Jason Kidd over Kyrie 100 times out of 100. Add to that Brunson's incredible efficiency (60% FG and 41% from three) and you got a solid player.
Brunson's defense was also solid last year. No one in the NBA can guard the jitterbugs, but he can guard the big PGs and slashing PGs are old news, anyway. Shooting PGs are the new thing and Brunson found a way to guard the perimeter well enough. On switches with guys who are 6'7", he'll have issues, but most NBA players do, which is why players run so many screens for switches.
Fisher is a good comparison. Deron Williams is a good comparison. Fisher played 13 seasons and has 5 rings. Deron Williams played 11. I don't think making that comparison is doing what you want it to for a guy in the second round. I mean, we got him in the second round and I'd be thrilled with a solid bench 6th/7th man and I think that's what he will be.
