@bobbykaralla: Dirk said he felt good physically last year and if this year goes the same he could consider a season 22. But no guarantees. "I want to approach this as there is no tomorrow, and hopefully have a great year, try to be efficient again ... and we'll just go from there."
@espn_macmahon: Dirk says he will approach this season as if there is “no tomorrow,” but “I’m going to leave the door open” to playing in 2019-20 if his body feels good.
@espn_macmahon: Dirk didn’t guarantee he’d be ready for training camp, but he’s making progress in his rehab from his April foot/ankle surgery. He joked (?) that he had a little swelling after Mark Cuban’s 60th birthday party.

This is perhaps setting up the smooth transition we needed to bringing Dirk off the bench. Take your time and heal properly. But if the Barnes at the 4 lineup doesn't work... Hurry the f up.

@NBA_Math: Can't believe we didn't reveal this earlier, but @swish41 used the 2017-18 campaign to become the first and only player in NBA history to earn a positive TPA (indicative of above-average play) during his 20th professional season. Six others have tried and failed.
Congrats, Dirk!

@DwainPrice: When they say Dirk is arguably the greatest Dallas pro athlete ever, this is why. Forget the stats, the championship, the MVP. This dude took the time to high-five every camper today at the Mavs Summer Hoop Camp in Plano. Who does that? Dirk. VIDEO: https://twitter.com/DwainPrice/statu...89301112053768

Dirk might need back surgery after that...

It's because he came off the bench instead of being warmed up.

With that move, Dirk could easily overtake Kareem all-time points leader!

@swish41: It’s an honor to have the practice facility named after me. Thanks @mcuban

I generally don't care for the multitude of advanced stats thrown at us, but Dwayne Wade at 15 speaks volumes.
Great to see Marion at 19 and shows just how important he was to our franchise. One of my all time favorites.

While i love seeing Dirk at the top of the list, it's not entirely accurate. Take for instance, Shaq at #18. The time period for this starts with him at the top of his career and then a hard decline. It probably would have been better to get this stat for careers maybe longer than 15 years or so. As it is now, the only real players you can accurately compare would be the ones that have had a similar career timeline as Dirk.

That stat says nothing about who had the best career, it's just top performers for the century according to these advanced stats. It's not intended to be read any other way.

Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said Dirk Nowitzki (ankle) hasn't practiced during training camp so far.
"He hasn’t been on the floor yet," Carlisle said. "He’s doing gradually better. I don’t know if there’s any reason to talk about anything until next week at the earliest." Nowitzki recently had a "little setback" and has been seen riding a stationary bike at practice. With the season less than a few weeks away, it's not a lock that Nowitzki will be ready for the opener. If he's not ready, look for Dwight Powell to pick up some extra minutes.

It's funny how nobody has really talked about Dirk's ankle surgery much. I'm kinda surprised he decided to give it another go after that.

Sefko reporting Dirk is still weeks away from playing. He must have had a set back, but I also don’t think the media made much of him having ankle surgery this summer.

Yeah Fisher posted an article about it. I know Fish isn't the most reliable but he's usually good on these kinds of things.

It's really looking like it's the close to the end for our dear old Dirk :/ 6 months of recovery for a minor ankle surgery and still having set backs and needing more time is not a great sign. Expect him to be in and out of the lineup this year. I don't know if I'm ready for this.

Yea it sucks. On the bright side, when he comes into games he will have the green light for bombs away, and he won't have such a critical role. Plus if Doncic is playing well it will take the focus off Dirk and help the transition for us.

It's not a great sign BUT he may also thrive coming off of the bench... 20 minutes a game to come in and fill it up. I think he'll shoot 40% from 3 and be wildly efficient again this season.

His eFG% last year was off the charts for a jumpshooter. 54.7% was the second highest in his entire career.
I fully expect him to stay up there as more and more of his shots come from behind the arc.

Dirk is still out indefinitely per Sefko quoting Rick. You know it doesn’t sound too promising when Ricks last quote on the issue is “no further procedure is needed.”

Looks like he's still a few weeks away from playing... LeBron will likely pass Wilt by the time Dirk gets back on the floor.
