I know there are a lot of ways to look at it, but I just feel like the Mavs are once again going to have to overpay to get a 2nd tier player to come here as a UFA. The Luka draw is not there with the players like it is when the fans.

I wouldn't read too much into it -- the West is STACKED, and rookies rarely get the the nod right out of the gate (LeBron had similar stats in his rookie season and still came up short)... Plus, Adams is killing it this year; averaging over 15/10, his play has helped elevate OKC to the next level (not to mention that his Aquaman movie grossed over a billion dollars worldwide!)... And the players still voted for Luka over guys like Draymond and KAT, who probably both deserve a nod.
The curious thing to me is that Doncic was listed as a frontcourt player, which probably increased his overall odds of getting in since most of those backcourt players have better stats than him... That means the NBA loves him enough to give him whatever edge they can -- the players won't be able to ignore the hype for long.

I'd say that has a lot more to do with him being a rookie than anything else...If he keeps it up I doubt he'll be behind guys like Adams and Aldridge next year tbh (a better record would also help).
Plus if we are being honest those 2 guys are really the only ones he could arguably be ahead of this year. All in all I'd say those were great resuts for a rookie on a bad team.

@ShamsCharania: Sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium: The NBA issued a memo to all 30 teams today reminding players are prohibited from throwing/kicking items such as a basketball into the crowd. The league informed teams there have been increased number of such incidents this season.
@MavsDraft: Luka changed the nba

@tim_cato: Luka has his second career triple-double. here's the list of teenagers who have recorded multiple triple-doubles:
- Luka Doncic
-
that's the list

If Lebron was still with Cleveland in the East, Luka would be the #1 fan vote for the Western Conference All-Star team. Yeah. As Mr. Hammer said, he's too legit to quit.
OK, it's a Monday and it was a very long weekend.

He's shooting 23% in January(10 games)... off just 13 fta's since he looks like he's avoiding any chance at getting a foul.

Luka Doncic officially snubbed for being a rookie (just like LeBron was):

Klay had no business being an all star this year. Aldridge is arguable over Luka. Oh well. Maybe he gets some love in a injury replacement situation

Or somebody (AD?) gets traded to the East.

I think an argument could be made that Russ doesn’t belong. He’s averaging a triple double, but his shooting numbers are atrocious.

I feel the same way, but it's still kinda lame. He was #2 overall in fan voting and the ASG is supposed to be an exhibition for the fans.
I get that bonuses, contracts, etc. come out of those selections, but as a fan I'm selfish.

Luka Doncic is the second player in NBA history to record 1,000 points, 340 rebounds, and 260 assists through the first 50 games of their career... Oscar Robertson last did it back in 1960.

@BillSimmons: The Kings blew it by passing on Luka but with that said... I really really really like Marvin Bagley.

Luka need to average 7 APG for the rest of the games to reach 6 APG over the season.
So there are solid chances he ends up as a 21/7/6 rookie

This is my biggest gripe about it. I feel like this is somewhat of a screw job for whatever reason and there is ton of possibilities, but think about these results:
- 8% behind #1 voted Lebron (4,620,809 vs 4,242,980)
- voted #3 overal (Giannis w/ 4,375,747)
- over 1 million ahead of WC forwards KD, Paul George, and nearly 2 million ahead of AD

@DwainPrice: If Anthony Davis' injured finger keeps him out of the All-Star game, could his spot be filled by, I don't know, maybe Luka Doncic? Why not? Luka will already be in Charlotte for some other activities. And he was 3rd in the fan voting. Give the people what they want. @NBA

Much love for wonderboy from The Mismatch pod with Vernon and KOC. Said Luka would go #1 in a redraft and they wouldn't trade him for Zion.
