If Dallas constructs the Harrison Barnes trade by using the Wes Matthew exception, Dallas would create a $21.3M trade exception. The TE would be the largest in NBA history. The next biggest one was $17.8M created when Orlando sent Dwight Howard to the Lakers.

So we could basically create the biggest dustchip ever to use between draftnight and 30. june. Offering teams to dump someone with instant cap relief.Could specially work if we keep the pick and attach it (of course not if its Zion).

Nice option. I would pay good $ for one of those Dustchip t-shirts from back in the day. The gift that keeps on giving...

Exclusive exclusive. You have to watch what you say here. It has a tendency to end up in one of his articles or on the radio.

I wonder if we saw our FA target last night
We aren't getting one of the prestige free agents, we just aren't. But the guy I watched play on the other team last night was exactly the kind of guy we need
Kemba Walker would fit in here perfectly

I've been going back and forth on who I want the Mavs to go after in free agency.. a big man that can stretch the floor or someone out on the wing that can assist more with attacking the rim.

The big analysis we need is who do the Mavs need per position. At pg, we will have luke, brunson and harris. SG either dfs and brunson/luka. At center we have Porzingis and Klieber. Do the Mavs need a SF or PF?

I was listening to the Mavs postgame report last night. They kept mentioning someone to help Luka with guarding fast point guards and that there really wasn't a good fit on the roster.
This will be Fish's next exclusive I bet

I feel insane for thinking this already, but if there’s some form of even a slight discount from Boogie to give him more years........I kind of love the fit. He would bring some nastiness to the Luka/KP duo and give us some edge, and the idea of his passing and playmaking combined with those two sounds good to me. But, more than likely. I think he’d want a little too much money. But something like Boogie, Beverley and a forward.
(a perfect world in which we shed Powell and minor magic happens)
I wonder what Bogdanovic is gonna be able to get, money wise because I like his fit as well. If you can get him, I think that could put Hardaway in what I think his best role would be (sixth man). I think a defensive guard who doesn’t need the ball a lot on offense is exactly what we need and i’m not sure that there’s a better option than Beverly, depending on money.
Beverly / Brunson / Harris
Luka / Hardaway Jr. / Harris
Bogdanovic / Finney-Smith
Porzingis / Jackson /
Cousins / Kleber / Mejri

I think point guard. While Luka can play point on offense it is brutal watching him try to stay in front of some of the quicker guards.
And coach loves having multiple point guards on the floor

Honestly, I don't put the time or the effort into digging up stats or doing analysis like I did 15-18 years ago.. I still like the game, but it's not as much of a passion as it was back then. Perhaps with Luka some of that will be brought back, but I don't know that it will.. just the raw excitement that Mavs fandom had with Dirk, Finley and Nash...turning a crap franchise around...a franchise that had never won a title. I don't know that I'll ever get back to that point. And yeah, the site played a huge role in it as well. With Twitter, well, it'll never really be the same. I still enjoy the site, but it'll never be as busy with so many incredibly strong personalities like it was. And that's no fault of anyone here. There are some incredibly intelligent people that are great with analysis. The site was just such a great place to discuss the Mavs and the NBA..a place of such great debate and confrontation... We can only hope that the Mavs recent news will help to increase the forum's popularity..

Before the KP trade i was meh about Cousins, because of the track record of being an ass even in the own locker room.
Now with Luka and KP i want him as far as possible away. He is a no go

Boogie is not a good fit. Mavs want a big guy who plays outside. Nikola V is the guy if you want a big man. Nikola, Porzingis and Luka will be the ivory towers.

I hope not. He is a bit advanced in age (he'll be 29 before next season) and can only play one position. More of a scorer (perhaps out of necessity in Charlotte), only a fair distributor (again, perhaps due to circumstance) and not an elite defender. Plus, he will be expensive.
Would prefer to see the Mavericks pursue a 2-position player, and let the Knicks pursue Walker in the event they don't sign Kyrie. Walker seems like the type of player the Knicks would overpay for. Better them than Dallas.

Malcolm Brogdon or Khris Middleton would be the top choices... Doubt the Bucks try to max both out.

Walker is a nice player, but I don't want to pay him what he'll bring relative to our other needs considering what's out there. Also, though I haven't seen him play a whole lot, I didn't really notice much from him in the last half of the 4th qtr. Meh from me for now.

Klay would be the most natural "top target" this summer because his fit would be undeniable next to Luka and KP -- but after Durant and Boogie move on, he'll be GSW's top priority... I don't really see him leaving.
Bet we go hard after Durant and Boogie though; both of whom would fit well here too.

Seems like Hardaway will stick so we just need
A) a defensively capable PG
B) a center capable of rebounding that can pull some gravity toward the paint (like Jordan did). Defense a big plus.
Vucevic + a defensive guard like Beverly would be good.
Walker would be good, but would eat up most of our cap. I'm not sure what big (PF or C) could be had cheap next to KP, but I've named a few. Big guys who just defend and rebound tend to be fairly cheap.

Seems like Maxi could be our guy if we're looking for someone cheap.

Do you think Hardaway sticks in the starting lineup? He's an awfully poor shooter for a SG.

Is Durant really impossible to get? Can another team offer more money? Durant would fit well because he doesn’t have to habdle the ball so much. He could just launch 3 and still be devastating. No to Booige.

I hope they don't go after Kemba, and I doubt they would. He is a great offensive player but we already have that in Luka. I don't see him as a good fit, especially at the price tag he will require. He lacks defense, hell Brunson posted him up rather effectively and Luka pwned him in the post.

Well, he hasn't started for us but I am assuming you mean since Barnes is gone he slides into the SG and DoFin goes SF. He's not that far off Wes' 3pt %, but I am happy with the trade off from having a guy who can finish around the rim and in traffic and won't dribble the ball off his foot or turn it over under pressure because he has no handles. The lob finish he had from Luka on the fast break is something Messley would have botched completely. I think he eventually starts because he has size, handles and the ability to catch fire some nights.

We have at most 33mill in cap space.
His max this offseason would start at 38.2mill
We only have the max for a player with 1-6 years of experience. Guys with 7+ cannot get max deals from us unless we somehow dump Powell or he opts out.

I think a lot of us agree with that we don't want him
1) Too much drama
2) Not a great fit. Has become ball dominant
3) We already have Doncic and KP playing our two forward spots.

I agree. Don't want anything to do with Durant or Boogie. Go make your max contract somewhere else.
