If the NBA can avoid playing games on Sundays and Monday nights they’d probably be okay. I’m not a huge baseball fan to begin with, but they are going to have a real hard time getting viewers.

Bobby Karalla@bobbykaralla
The Mavericks' magic number to clinch a playoff spot under the format approved by the Board of Governors is 2. Dallas will play eight more games before the playoffs. Currently the Mavs are 1.5 back of both OKC and Houston, and 2.5 back of Utah.
-
Dallas is 40-27. Memphis is 32-33. Unless I'm a dummy (which, let's be honest, is very possible) the Grizz could pass the Mavs based on win percentage by going 8-0 if Dallas goes 0-8 or 1-7. And an 8-0 run by one of POR/NOP/SAS would bring them within 4 GB of Dallas if 1-7/0-8.

Tim Reynolds: The Kings’ signing of Corey Brewer is done and official. An actual NBA transaction has taken place!
I saw Ariza (Portland), Bertans (Wash) and Avery Bradley (LAL) have all said they aren’t coming back this season. Not sure of any others at this time.

This is assuming we are going to even have football and baseball seasons this year. I'm not at all confident we will.

Melissa Rohlin: Rajon Rondo sustained a fractured right thumb during tonight’s practice in Orlando and will undergo surgery this week, according to the Lakers. He is expected to return in six to eight weeks.
Lakers backcourt hurting a bit with no Rondo or Avery Bradley.

For the life of me I don't know why Bol Bol fell as far as he did or why the Mavs didn't take a shot at him.

I really wanted TJ Warren especially after finding out what the Pacers gave up for him. He's currently in beast mode.

I thought the Pacers received a 1st round pick to take his contract? While we were waiting for Danny Green to “make a decision.”

That sounds about right......it was so many good players available and we were taking chances on players of the same caliber.

I checked, they did receive a 1st which they then traded to the Heat for 3 second round picks. Heat drafted KJ Okpala or whatever that dudes name is. All they sent to Phoenix was cash. What a steal.
We got Delon Wright. And it might cost the GS pick to dump him after the season. Best case we use him as salary filler in a large deal, or trade him for another not so great contract.

Lakers - don't believe the hype
So far in the 22-team bubble, the Lakers are:
22nd in scoring
22nd in FG%
22nd in 3FG%
21st in FT%
small sample size or something more?

Do they really need to play hard when they locked up the 1 seed? I wouldn't put much into that...

Playing hard is something that is hard to turn on and off. If they are slacking, that's not something they can immediately change, but you are probably right.

I think the Lakers, and their lower than avg. 3pt shooting, cannot put up enough points to
keep pace with Nuggets, Rockets and Mavs. They have above avg. defense but are serious lacking in quality depth.

I really hope Portland can get the 8 spot. I think they could give the Lakers a decent run for their money. They have bigs that can matchup with Howard/McGee, and a dynamic backcourt with Dame and CJ. Melo is still capable of getting buckets too.

Dame is a guy who can occasionally just win a game single-handedly like he did against OKC and Denver. There was nothing anyone could have done against him. Just nailing halfcourt shots over and over.

Sixers star Ben Simmons is "out indefinitely" with a left knee injury. Partially dislocated kneecap.

I'm not sure why Nuggets are the only team smart enough to take flyers on guys like Bol Bol and MPJ. I do not get it.

Blazers are scary because if they are on their A Game they are as good as anyone. And they are getting GREAT minutes from Gary Trent Jr.

Too bad about the Ariza situation because he’s exactly what they need— another 3&D wing. They basically can’t trust Nas Little or Simons yet. Without good wings your upside is just kind of capped.

While true......Ariza had gotten to the point where if his shot wasn't falling....his defense kind of wasn't worth it. I think Ariza going down gave them more confidence in Gary Trent Jr. He can D it up as well.

Trent has been a revelation, no question. But Ariza was playing really well for Portland. He looked rejuvenated with a real team. And he just has length and experience defensively that Trent can’t replicate. He’s more Wes Matthews size. You could stick him on Kawhi for 15-20 a game and know he’ll do a good job. I really root for Portland, my best friend lives there and is a huge fan so I try to catch their games when I can. They’ve literally been a good long 3/D wing (like Covington) away from contention for like a decade. I think they still are.

6'9" 245lb LeBron 38 min played - 1 REBOUND ------
[Via Dave McMenamin] "There's been more than 1800 five-man lineups used in Orlando.
The *worst* lineup is the Lakers starting lineup, -28 in 41 minutes with LeBron, JaVale, Danny, AD and KCP

Kuzma started last night and he was fantastic. This was the first game where the Lakers' offense didn't look like garbage. I'm thinking that should be the way forward for them.

So bizarre that the Lakers played all season and now they suddenly need to come up with an offense.

You may be right I Think I just still have that taste of Ariza in the playoffs a year or two ago where he was just horrible I believe for the Rockets.

This Lakers team is going to get clamped by playoff defense, and their cross-town rival is the best bet. Not enough scoring power and don't think Kuzma is that guy just yet.

This Blazers/Grizzlies game is INTENSE. Ja Morant is special. He's going to be a star for a long, long time.

agree. Very entertaining game to watch. Ja is relentless and just keeps attacking the basket.
Blazers are healthy and deep and should give the Lakers a 7 game series.
