GDT: MAVS VS SPURS 7:30 PM
I35 Texas rivalry is back and we have a fight for playoff positioning. This one is winnable and we need it. Let's keep it rolling today!

Important game
1) Spurs are 7th seed and only one game up on us. A win here would be the first step in moving beyond the 8th seed
2) Warriors are 0.5 games behind us. Grizzlies are 1 game behind us. If we lose, we plummet out of the playoff race.
3) It's always good to give the Spurs an L

Doncic has averaged 29.3 points in 8 career games vs San Antonio,
the highest ppg vs any West team for him.

Any injuries? Half expecting KP to be out with a sore back from too many days off. Anyone know if Luka is 100%?

Sounds like they are going to trade him, but will work with Aldridge to find a good fit. I wonder if Portland calls? Not sure what Portland might need since I don’t follow them, but I could see LA wanting to go back there.

That starting lineup leaves so much to be desired.

LOL
Yeah the announcers were like terrible shot Luka.....
He's a great player but sometimes you wonder why he thinks those are good shots especially when they come so early in the shot clock.
His FG% would be so much higher if he just valued more possessions at times.
But it's just the way these young guys are wired in the NBA today.

How do you come out after all star break, at home, with fans, seemingly non chalant? Feels like a preseason game. They dont want it yet.

Why is this so hard to figure out? Let someone else bring up the ball and post up Luka when Patty Mills is on him. Jesus.

Porzingis looks like the elite two-way threat we signed up for tonight.

Tough to watch how soft this team is defensively.

I actually thought they played well defensively other than struggling to get back. Spurs have hit some ridiculously difficult shots.

Adjusted for shot difficulty DFS has to be one of the worst three point shooters in the league. Mavs desperately need someone who can consistently nail threes.

That player would then replace THJ
I doubt Rick removes DFS from the starting lineup because they simply don't have any defenders.
So if they found a guy who was more consistent at 3's I'd slot him right into THJ's minutes or cut them in half.

See KP you don’t need to force a shit 3. Be patient and let Luka make some space for you. Big shot!

Mavs stepped up to close it out. Good contests on some jump shots. But also Spurs aren’t as good as their start to the season. Dominated boards and 21-2 second chance points for the team.

Genuinely hurts my heart to see Desmond Bane do well in Memphis. He would be the perfect replacement for DFS who wastes Lukas dimes every night.

You’re right and they definitely clamped down in the fourth. I was griping at KP and guys in the post getting pushed around. But it was mainly Demar having his way but he’s a great player so it’s expected.

Yup. Bane played 31 minutes and scored 20 (5/8 from 3pt) last night against the Wizards.

I never had a feeling they liked Bane. I felt like he could start but we know DFS has tenure and a good attitude and sometimes that trumps logic with Rick and MBT. He's a solid defender and a great shooter. DFS has heart but he is clumsy with the ball and an inconsistent shooter. Can't create at all either.

It was a good win last night. We pulled away in the clutch moments. KP was really good and he did what bigs are supposed to do to smaller teams or less athletic bigs.
Doncic didn't get some calls but he didn't pick up a 2nd tech which I was worried about. Good game by those two guys. Maxi played well too. It was a must win to keep momentum and we best a team in front of us in the standings.

I thought Luka might get a second tech. He kept chirping st the refs. He had seemed to simmer down before the AS break with complaining all the time, but he was talking a lot last night.

Yea. It would have been a big highlighter on his dealing with missed or bad calls if he got ejected. Especially if we lost. I imagine that would be a story on SC etc. BUT he didnt so hopefully Rick talked to him to remind him about it and the importance of how he handles ref situations.
This said, there were some really bad calls last night. I don't like to complain too much about it myself but it was bad. Along with the failure to reset the shot clock to end the first half, which resulted in a wasted offensive rebound and chance to score again. I can't believe it went unnoticed by 3 refs and the coaching staff
