Dallas Mavericks vs. LA Clippers: How to watch Start time: 8:00 p.m. CT or 9:00 p.m.
How to watch: Fox Sports Southwest (Dallas market), Fox Sports Prime Ticket (Los Angeles market)
The Mavericks are in position to shoot up the Western Conference standings. They're only two games back in the loss column of the No. 4 Clippers, and it just so happens they play the Clippers twice this week (Monday and Wednesday)
With their starting lineup of Luka Doncic, Josh Richardson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Maxi Kleber and Porzingis, the Mavericks boast a 131.6 offensive rating, per CTG, which ranks as the most efficient mark in the league among all five-man units who've logged at least 300 possessions together. What's more, that's a better rating than any five-man unit Dallas put on the floor last season, which, again, was a historic season.

Excellent KP article to read while waiting for the game today
Kristaps Porzingis heard your trade rumors, and he has the Dallas Mavericks returning to historic form

I came accross this today, not sure how true it is but I've been wanting Gordon on the Mavs for the last two years.
His game reminds me of young Shawn Marion and I think he could uplift this defense to another level since he can defend 1-4 but he would be a fantastic roll man for Luka providing what Powell gave us last year.
NBA rumors: Rockets, Mavericks, Nuggets, Warriors, Wolves and Blazers interested in Aaron Gordon
Acquiring him now would also allow Gordon’s new team to evaluate him closely before he becomes a free agent in 2022. That’s likely why the Rockets, Mavericks, Nuggets and Warriors all remain interested. With Denver, sources said its package would center around Bol Bol, yet there’s an apparent hesitation from the Nuggets front office about having to potentially pay both Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. next summer. For Dallas, Dwight Powell has been rumored among league personnel as the centerpiece in any deal.

2 fouls on DFS
They are about to exploit THJ on defense

Mavs wings are just too small to match up with the Clippers
They don't respect any of our defenders on the perimeter and they look to attack often vs who ever THJ defends.
Not sure why James Johnson wouldn't be a good matchup in this type of game defensively

I'd like to hear a reason why they didn't grant Luka continuation there. He made the call when Luka was in the air.

I have no idea
But in fairness to the refs they have really let both teams just play.
This might be the lowest ft shooting game between two teams that I've seen in quite sometime.

Mavs have had several unforced turnovers that have been killers tonight.

Lukas made a couple bad turnovers in the 4th. That airball really hurt to he looked lost in the air.
Edit: bad 3 point shot too

Luka seems upset with THJ sometimes
About 2 possessions ago he looked at THJ like man pass the ball.
THJ gave it up at as a last resort and Luka fired up a bad 3.

I was gonna say I was kinda upset Luka didn’t recognize him on fire and keep setting him up.

Just too many turnovers and they always seem to allow someone late in the game to get an offensive rebound.
But I'm still ticked off that RC practically gave away a game vs OKC because all these games are huge right now.
Then he said a few days that they will continue to rest guys doing back to back games.
I think that strategy is going to backfire on the Mavs and they are going to miss out on top 5 or 6 seed by 1-2 games because of the way they are going about this

He was on fire tonight
But that's the thing that bothers me about THJ.
He will have these types of games and then go missing in action the next 3-4 games.
Personally I thought KP was the guy who caused the most damage but they seem to go long stretches of games without getting him involved.
In fact Jeff Skin Wade just mentioned it KP was killing it and then he got very few touches.
Seems like Luka and THJ were taking turns trying to see who could win the game.

THJ is a black hole when you pass him the ball. Your never getting it back. EVER.
It was said earlier the Clippers are all kinds of wrong for us. There wings are too big and strong for our wings.

Refs are generally just bad.
Luka wasn't very Luka in the 4th.
I still standby that we have needed to upgrade DFS for a while.

This why they need a bigger wing and they've been needing that type of wing for years now.
The Clippers continue to expose the Dallas weak points
This game felt like the sum-of-all-fears game that Josh and I worried about from the Clippers prior to the playoffs last season. They simply break Dallas at the weak points and there are no easy fixes. They’ve got deep wing depth to annoy Luka Doncic. They have an offense which results in solid three point shooting (they went 14 of 32 from distance). They also expose just how out matched Dorian Finney-Smith and Maxi Kleber are. The defensive combination went 4 of 12 from the field for just 11 points, while grabbing eight combined rebounds, and three turnovers.
It’s not that either player is bad, in fact we all know how valuable they’ve been to Dallas this season. It’s that Dallas expects both to do too much night in and out and when playing truly elite teams they get exposed. We’ve got enough game tape now. It’s shocking to watch Kleber turn into a pumpkin (though he was awesome in the final six minutes on defense) and see Finney-Smith reign bricks on astoundingly wide open shots.
Honestly, I should toss Josh Richardson in here too. He scored six straight then went into cryo-sleep for the game, statistically. Shoot the ball fellas.

We have enough tape now? There has been plenty of tape on DFS for a while. He is an excellent rotation guy. He's inconsistent and doesn't make a big enough impact on the floor to justify when he isn't knocking down wide open shots.

Easy workaround for those of us blacked out by League Pass: use a VPN and select a foreign server (I'm using a UK server).
