Caught the second quarter and it seemed Luka and KP were much more in sync that I’ve seen from last season

Omoruyi can play ball!!
DP has his hops back
KP looks...healthier. He and Luka clicking.
Kidd and Co have the Mavs pushing the f outta the ball! The activity and motion on offense is so refreshing.
Burke don't need no Vax. Lol
Kennard can shoot the 3. Wow

Anyone worried about Mavs losing Brunson? Not this season but after this contract since we cannot extend him at $18 million per season. That number seems crazy high to me, but an expert says that's what he's worth, and his agent will realize that as well.

Among those with non-guaranteed contracts... who will you hate to see not make the roster the most?

Did not realize Burke has those kind of hops.
Effortless break-away dunk in 1st quarter.

Does it change your thinking about how our final roster should be?

He's solid but he is also replaceable. I'm not too worried about it. No way he's worth 18per...not to us.

Omoruyi - he's gonna be wasted with time spent on the legends. He looks like a rotation player already.

At least he has a 2-way contact. I really mean among those without even that.

Oh. That was a separate statement.
I'd say Jones because it doesn't hurt as much if we lose or trade Brunson.

It's pre season but Omoruyi seems like he belongs. Hopefully the mavs have found something there (they're due tbh)

Green turned it around. 8 board and 3 assists to go with his 6pts. Would like to see more scoring because...scoring is fun to watch.
C Jones with 6pt, 5r, 4ast.
Don't look past KP and THJ getting 4 assists each.

Omoruyi reminds me of a quicker version of Brandon Bass.
This team is in dire need of some strength at the Forward positions and EO could possibly fill that void.
Definitely a keeper.

Pros: -Omoruyi
-Team finally looks comfortable on offense which is what I've been saying for years was an issue
-KP looks good and comfortable
-Powell at least looks recovered from that nasty injury
-Josh Green scored
Cons: -Defense still needs work, but it's question mark is with so many different players
-S. Brown didn't play great, but I could see him as a secondary playmaker
-Not much really for a preseason game

Green is still a puppy but hopefully there is still a lot of room to grow.
I have doubts about that shot ever developing much but hopefully he proves me wrong.

He's just too raw, like below D league raw. If it wasn't for his defense, then he wouldn't have even been drafted.
My bitterness over not drafting Bey is still hard to swallow, but I hope another season might get Green going in the right direction.

Disagree
WCS is switchable on defense come playoff time.
He can switch on to smaller players much better than Moses.
IN the Playoffs teams would run Moses off the floor IMO.
I'd rather have WCS as that backup big behind Powell in the playoffs

Jason Kidd on Mavs shooting far fewer 3s than Rick Carlisle's offense:
"We’re not just going to rely on jump shooting because that can leave you at any part of the season or in the playoffs. If that happens, you don’t have anything to fall back on, and that means an early exit."

I agree with this for now, with the limited look we've had so far. The great thing is they both have an entire year to work with Tyson Chandler.

nice comparison.
I like him a lot - Eugene Omoruyi (19 points)
8-14 shooting, 5 reb, 2 asst, 2 steals

Green was horrible. He looked like the least skilled player on the floor anytime he was on the floor. Are we sure he will be on this team?

No. Very good regular season role player that can be played off the court in the post season. If he leaves he leaves.. I am more worried that we had 3 top 36 draft picks in the last season we could legitimately add draft talent to the young Luka core and totally whiffed. Meanwhile Saddiq Bey continues to rapidly improve his game according to many reports (SB Nation below):
Another player who stood out was second-year forward Saddiq Bey. A 3-point specialist last season, Bey spent the offseason working on his handle, his playmaking and his mid-range game, and it showed in the win against the Spurs. Bey had 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. He drove the line consistently and made several smart passes to cutters and found open lanes.
Good riddance previous regime for blowing 2020.

That is pretty bad if we end up whiffing on all 3 picks...
I'm guessing right now today the Mavs would trade all 3 of those players for just Bey alone
We better hope Kidd can develope Green into at least an elite wing defender who can excel in transition offense

I think it will be tough for Green to get much of an opportunity to develop at the NBA level this season. THJ, DFS, Brown, Frank, Bullock, and Omoruyi are above him in the wing pecking order as far as I'm concerned. It will be tough for him to move into the rotation unless he does something extremely special over the next few weeks.
I was hoping he could develop into a Crowder situation but it is beginning to look more like a Anderson/Cunningham/Ager/Jones/Larkin situation.

People gave me shit when I called him Justin Anderson 2.0, but I'm not sure he is even that. Anderson had a decent second season here and got 14 mpg.
But the good news is that we have so much depth on the wing that they've lessened the need for Green to be something.

If I am the Mavericks, I am looking to consolidate several players into one. We have a lot of depth which can be a good thing, but can also confuse the rotations and pecking order. Brunson (due to his contract status), Kleber (due to Omoruyi), Green (wing depth ahead of him), Terry, Burke, Powell, Moses Brown, and/or WCS are all tradeable.

I'd be surprised if Terry is still on the team when the season begins. I feel bad about whatever is going on with him, but you still just can't vanish for large portions of a time when you haven't proven anything yet.
Omoruyi just has that "it" kind of engine you want in an energy role player. He is pretty polished too.

Dude has a good wingpan and good sized hands, but he doesn't really block shots and he's 6'7"
He's like a combination of Leonard and Brandon Bass/Glen Davis. He's faster than Davis/Bass, but he's a small SF/PF.

First half he looked bad. 2nd half he looked solid. Aside from that failed lob to the upper deck. I don't see them giving up on the 18th pick...yet.
