Mavs try to win against a good team (Nuggets)
OUT
KP - was rest, now is COVID
WCS - rap career
Boban - COVID
Burke - COVID
Thomas - COVID
McLaughlin - COVID
Hyland - COVID
Morris - out
Green - out
Howard - out
Porter Jr. - out
Dozier - out
Murray - out
Nuggets have been pretty good lately despite the injuries, going 6-4. Mavs have scraped by and are 5-5. Only one game separates the 5th seed Nuggets and the 8th seed Mavericks.

So they didn’t renew Brandon Knights 10 day contract?

Started watching when the Mavs were at 41% shooting from three.
Now at 31%
0-4 since I started watching

How is Luka shooting 22% from the field and 0% from three?
And also our best +/- guy?

Think he’s assisted on all 3s except that one that just happened. And 10 total assist for him.

10ast and only 2TO
Still not scoring effectively, but better than the 10ast/7TO game yesterday

Great defensive play by bullock to defend the pass to jocic from Barton there. I have not been that impressed with bullock, but I must admit that was nice.

This game is why I said the Mavs wouldn't blow it up with Luka on the roster and the west not being that strong this year.
Even with all their struggles no one in the west can get much separation outside of Phoenix, Golden St and Utah.
Mavs still have a great shot of finishing anywhere from 5-6 by the end of the year despite the flawed roster.
No reason to tank and miss the playoffs with Luka on the roster.

Tim MacMahon: Jason Kidd mentioned that Josh Green, who he wants to get more minutes, leads the Mavs in plus-minus (+72). “It’s just a stat, but the eye test supports it,” Kidd said. Mavs’ worst plus-minus? Luka Doncic (-88)

It's just totally obvious that he makes us better.
His athleticism, length, and hustle just absolutely disrupt the opposing teams and after seeing 20+ games, I just expect that when we put him in, the Mavs will start getting stops and start getting fast-break opportunities, which then usually leads to runs.
His offense needs work-- he definitely lacks confidence in his jumper outside of 15', but for a team that lacks both lateral quickness and length, Green plugs our most glaring weaknesses

Noticed at the end when all backups came in, he confidently pulled up a mid range and hit it. Could be a confidence thing or not wanting to take shots away from other guys. Might take time. As long as there’s honesty for defenses, it’ll keep opening lanes up for him.

If Bullock, THJ, DFS, and Kleber consistently hit wide open threes, this team would be a top 4 seed. It's insane the amount of wide open looks these guys miss -- especially Bullock and THJ. At least Bullock is coming around, but THJ...yikes.

I went back and watched his Arizona highlights recently and they had a segment highlighting his mid range/pull up game and he looked very smooth and confident
I’ve noticed he hasn’t had a lot of knee bend on his 3 point shot lately. His upper mechanics look solid (as evidenced by his fts)
I think he has to work on consistency in his footwork and get into the “rhythm” of his shot by getting more lift. Like he did on the pull-up he hit late in the game. I think it’s mostly mental for Josh right now and the game will slow down for him as time goes on.

I was just thinking this watching the game last night when Luka had 15 assists but should’ve easily had 20. It’s a running theme. He really gets guys so many good looks.
Glad the law of averages has turned around in Reggie’s favor— had a feeling it would. I wonder if we could convince the Knicks to give us a protected future first to get him back. Or a top 6 protected pick swap in the coming draft. Probably not, but I hope they are at least looking to get assets for him and/or THJ before the deadline.

I just hate being stuck with a bad contract. That just seems like the MO of the FO. THJ is the new Powell in that we just have to live with it. And sadly, Powell is playing better than THJ lately.

I was never in favor of resigning THJ. He's just too streaky (well, this year he's been pretty consistent...consistently off) and too one dimensional. He's a below average defender, rebounder, and passer. Technically he can create his own shot, but that shot creation is simply a contested jumper because he can't get to the hoop or the FT line. So if he's not hitting his jumper, he's a negative out there. Despite having two pretty good shooting years in a row here, he's only a career 36% three-point shooter, so it's not even like he's a knock down specialist. TBH, I think there are a lot of guys who could do what THJ does here but better given the minutes/shots and benefit of Luka he gets. Hell, I'd rather have a guy like Max Struss than THJ and he's way cheaper.
