Mavs try to end their streak against the Knickerbockers
Mavs have won 6 straight and 7 of 8. Knicks have won 3 of 4 and on a one game "streak"
KP/WCS still out
Kemba/Nerlens/Rose should all be out for us

I honestly don't see what people see in Moses Brown. No reason he should be playing over Marquese Chriss. Brown just doesn't have the lower body strength to consistently make an impact in the NBA.

Yep
As bad as WCS has played to start the season I know when he's at his best especially defensively (see Clippers series) he's better than Moses. I think his family personal issues were waying on him.
Moses has always appeared clumsy to me....
WCS makes some questionable decisions but he doesn't look clumsy and moves very fluid with on his feet.
As for Chriss I like him but sometimes I get the feeling he's just too small to play C. But he brings a ton of energy to table

Here’s the part where we get sick watching the Mavs shoot 15% from 3

I'm OK with everything the Mavs are doing. We are playing good defense but the Knicks are hitting tough shots. We are getting good looks and just aren't able to hit them down.
I continue to believe the biggest piece this team lacks is a pick and roll center to pair with Luka. Someone like Clint Capela would be perfect.

Luka sucks tonight.
Knicks realized early Mavs are soft and keep going hard inside.

Name one Maverick that can shoot the ball tonight.
THJ and DFS combine 0-7 from three so far. If I'm Luka I get frustrated seeing open shot after open shot bricked.

Mavs not even terrible at defense. Just knicks dropping ridiculous threes
And Mavs forgot how to shoot

He's got a point though
I would prefer Brunson handle the ball and Luka post up
Instead of all the 3's Luka was doing in the post up game why go away from it especially when 3's aren't falling

Yikes. How do you even come to play like this after playing so well lately?

Imagine him getting even more frustrated watching himself throw up brick after brick.

Yeah it's over Luka turns the ball over way too much even in our wins.
I think Brunson has become much better in valuing possessions and hopefully Kidd uses Luka more on the low blocks to help cut down on his turnovers.

Luka 1/9 from 3
Which is why I think they should force him into the post and mid range more it'll help his effectiveness and also help to cut down on his bad 3 point attempts
Ideally I think Luka should be shooting around 4-5 3's a game but often he'll go crazy and jack up 10-12 on any given night even if they aren't falling.
He can't beat anyone off the dribble right now because he still seems out of shape so why not get him closer to the basket with set plays.

Knicks played good defense. The scrambling to get back out to run shooters off the line was impressive. Thats what we look like when we are on our game but tonight wasn't it. You really have to be able to counter that defensive effort and scheme. You have to pull up a few mid range shots to soften them up or go hard to the bucket. We got caught up trying to keep moving it to get the most open look but at some point you move it and then put your fn head down and get in the paint.
I get it, we keep jacking off 3pt shots because it's in the flow of our normal offense and we only have 2 guys who can create, but SOMEONE needs to step up as a leader and show some awareness. Lol.
Luka was very nonchalant tonight. He's often like that but it's another aspect of leadership that he will grow into eventually I'm sure.
When Maxi struggles early the whole team seems to follow most times. Idk why but we get so disjointed. He had an abysmal start and it seemed contagious.
Memphis Friday will be a good bounce back challenge.

Sad
I don’t think I saw Luka smile once tonight. Not a good sign when you aren’t having fun playing basketball.

He will have more fun when he starts taking his conditioning seriously. The NBA is an 82 game grind.
He also can't hit the broad side of a barn lately. His last good shooting games was against Memphis Dec 8.
Mavs need a new shooting coach in the worst of ways.

Luka 100% needs to take his physique seriously and operate inside the three point line more.
That being said he generates AMAZING looks for his teammates via potential assists and hockey assists and they just don't knock them down consistently.
Our 3&D wings have been better about this recently. This is a different game if we shoot better:
DFS
Season: 38%
Last 10: 42.6%
Sterling Brown
Season: 34.7%
Last 10: 52.6%
Bullock
Season: 31.6%
Last 10: 44.7%
Moses Brown is hot garbage. I would much rather give those minutes to Chriss who is more active on the perimeter offensively and defensively. IMO our best lineup might be Brunson - Luka - DFS - Chriss - KP.

Mavs might want to call A.Silver and have him take them off primetime LOL
The Mavericks aren’t built for primetime, I guess. They’re 2-11 so far when they play on national TV, and 20-8 when they’re only broadcast locally. That might be a fluke, just a weird coincidence of scheduling or luck. But seeing as national TV games usually feature a matchup of good playoff teams, it probably means the Mavericks struggle to defeat quality teams consistently. There are, however, a half-season’s worth of games left to flip that narrative.
