99% of these are wide open.... it's not like their defense is smothering or anything
we aren't coming back unless we start hitting some shots
they're good quality shots - not sure what you else can do about it

That top defense is so far into the rear view mirror
Also Kidd has to start mixing up the bench. I’m sick of seeing Maxi

Listen, a lot of players on the team can have bad shootings nights and most have earned them....except Maxi. Guy is a black hole as far as I'm concerned. He shouldn't shoot another three for the rest of the season.

Yeah this team has regressed defensively.
But I said after the trade was made they fixed one issue but then created another issue.
Hopefully, they bounce back on Sunday

Would much rather see Chriss than Maxi. This team will get mopped by Utah with this garbage

It’s completely okay to lose and have off nights. But getting blown out by 20+ with 8 games left in the season is a problem imo

Not much he can do the options are limited now
Bertans sucks and he's the only big left because Boban and Chriss don't even play.
We went from having several big options down to spare parts now LOL

I really hope Luka isn't hurting. He hasn't seemed his best self lately. We are going NOWHERE if he isn't close to 100%.

Bigger longer defenses always give us trouble. We have no size to match up.
Also those defenses happen to be Jalens cryptonite.
Non Luka Mavs from 3: 5/33 lol

Not sure if it was the defense really…
Guys flat out bricked wide open 3s from what I saw

I only watched some of this game with the NCAA tournament going
But there's not a single guy on this roster who makes opposing team players think twice about driving to the rim.
Our wing defense is going to have to be stellar in the playoffs because if DFS, Bullock or Green struggle it's going to be brutal defensively.
You don't have to block shots inside to be effective, you just have to contest shots and a lot of times the Mavs have guys flat footed inside the paint and don't even contest the shot.
There have been games this year where they just hung around despite poor shooting because they defended their ass off.

At this point Chriss can't be any worse. Kleber might have peaked two years and it makes you wonder why the Mavs were reluctant to trade him.
He seems like a good dude for the Lockeroom but at some point this franchise has to stop putting so much stock into guys just because they are merely good for the Lockeroom.
Teams aren't even defending Maxi now because he's afraid to shoot. Him and Bertans were both 40% shooters at one time and now neither guy can make a three.

When Luka accounts for HALF of your made 3's then the team has a problem. This team is designed to be a bunch of attackers and shooters around Luka. When that fails we can't win

Yep, this is how season started. How on earth this team can, as a whole, miss that many shots is perplexing. I'm not sure what offense Kidd is suppose to run that makes players hit wide open shots.

We have too many damn coaches for Luka to not have been on the block vs DLo, Bev...and really anyone not named KAT. Ffs man. This is not rocket science. Generate other offense if what we normally do isn't working. This is whats going to happen in the playoffs. Team will study us and force our role players to hit open shots. They will fold like a cheap lawn chair and we will be hunting a big in the offseason.

Did someone disconnect Maxi’s phone line? Wtf happened to his shot? He’s like 6-38 on threes in the last ten games. Someone get Holger on the line.

I honestly don't get how Mavs players can have such big swings. Do any other teams have such cold spells?
Maxi shot 41% from three last year.
Before the ASB, he was shooting 37% from three
Since the ASB, he's shooting 14.9%
And he's not the only one. This whole team is hot/cold with decent hots and incredibly icy cold spells

That's why it would be nuts to get rid of Brunson. Guy is a the model of consistency this season. Played poorly last night along with the rest of the team, but he can be counted on 9 times out of 10.
Consistency is something I've ragged on going on years now. If you can't have reliable players on your team when it counts, then they have little value IMO. It doesn't matter who played well in Nov or Dec if they aren't going to bring in March and April.

Brunson can't go unless it somehow brings us a big back. For example, Myles Turner would make this team a lot better. Brunson is

Yep that's the guy who I prefer. He's a stretch big, solid rebounder and terrific rim protector.
Problem is Indiana already has Tyrese, Brogdon and Hield in that backcourt but could they add Brunson and move Tyrese to SG.
Not sure if they want to deal Brogdon but imagine if Dallas could create a package for Brogdon and Turner for Brunson, Powell, Kleber and #1 pick.
Hell I'd even throw in Green as a young talent for them to groom.
I know it's a pipe dream trade scenario but damn could you imagine the Mavs fielding a lineup with Luka, Brogdon, Bullock, DFS and Turner with SD as the 6th man.

It would be great, but I'd settled for Luka, SD, Bullock, DFS, Turner(esque) and a scrap heap back up PG. A truer PG than Burke , who is actually a midget SG.
When teams have time to focus solely on us, we are going to find that our "key" guys are in fact supposed to be role players. DP, Maxi, Bullock, Dfs, jury is out on Brunson until he proves it in the playoffs.
Brunson is unquestionably bothered by length. I'll be surprised if he plays as well as he has this season in the playoffs, unless he has some odd mismatch. Sagging wing players bog him down and if I had to bet it will happen when we need others not named Luka to step up most.
We need someone big who can carve out some fn space, get boards and defend inside. If he can pop out and knock down some shots then great. This hasn't changed even though we have been hot for a few months.

Are there stats for this? He is one of the best guards in the league from 10 ft. And under. Where all the lengthy players defend. I think this might be bullshit.
