Off-season is going to be rough if we not only get swept, we lose the final game after going into the fourth up 29

win or not the Warriors just mentally won game 5 already
The Mavs are going to quit at the 1st sign of trouble when they go back to Golden St
The warriors have essentially put doubt in their heads now regardless of how big a lead the Mavs have doing that game

This game went from great to terrible
This has to be a confidence killer if your Dallas because you blew a 19 point lead in game two and then turned around and damn near blew a 29 point lead in one qtr

I better hear Kidd with some self reflection in the post game presser. He could’ve waited until the 7 or 8 min mark to pull starters.

Yep, huge embarrassment. This near collapse took the entire positive vibe this game. This kind of quarter could easily carry over to Thursday but we’ll see.

Luka actually said our defense was amazing
Bro you almost blew a 29 point lead vs the backups LOL
J.Kidd has to be held accountable for that letdown to especially after he allowed that 19 point lead to evaporate by refusing to call any timeouts

You know damn well how good the Warriors are by now. There are no style points for wins in the playoffs. Be happy we won and move on.

yep just because Kerr wanted to get his starters some rest and stay healthy doesn't mean you take the bait.
Your team blew a 19 point lead so you have to keep playing until ypou know this thing is over
Now your team just loss even more confidence IMO following a win that felt like a loss in that 4th qtr to their backups
Just not a good look IMO

microcosm of the team at this point
mavs outscored 15-5 with luka out the first 5 minutes of the 4th quarter
from there other than the maxi dunk on dinwiddie assist, he scored 9 and assisted on the only other 2 baskets made by DFS.
it just seemed that everyone other than Luka crapped their pants in the 4th.
literally no one else could get anything done. kuminga, bjelica and moody were styling on us...

Convenient you left out the part where he said, “except in the 4th quarter”.

He corrected himself and said except for the fourth quarter

Anyone who wants to bitch and moan about winning a game in the WCF needs to take a lap. I'm sorry, but after a day like today, be happy we got this.

Absolutely. Take it one game at a time. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that the Mavs go into the next game knowing that they need to be a lot better.

Yeah but the problem is they said that after blowing the 19 point lead in game 2
I mean sure they are playing the Warriors but as a fan when you watch your team blow a 19 point lead and then turnaround and almost blow a 29 point lead it's kind of hard to set it aside
So it's good they held on for the win I'm happy but I'm betting money that national media and local media are going to bring up the same thing about how this game ended

Are we all agreed that for game five, SMC makes the GDT for the first 3/4 and then a new poster makes a new GDT for the final quarter?

Don’t see why we aren’t allowed to be a little upset about nearly blowing a 29 point lead. On a basketball forum in the game thread. I’m very happy about the win, this team never lies down.
Aside from that, I feel horrible about what happened. I remember exactly where I was for Sandy Hook and kinda just laid in bed for days watching the coverage. It’s sickening what continues to happen

Definitely upset about blowing the lead. I didn’t want to be nervous in the 4th quarter of a game they started out with a 29 point lead. The coach/team need to learn from this. Never take your foot off the pedal — whoever is in the game. The 2011 Mavs were a perfect example of this mentality. In game 6 of the finals, even with the game/championship basically decided, it seemed like the whole team was wired to play to the 0:00 before even thinking about being relieved and happy about winning a championship.
Having said that, I’m very glad the Mavs didn’t get swept. Now it’s time to try to steal one in Golden State and put pressure on them to finish the series in Dallas.
Regarding the school shooting, just absolutely devastating. As a father of three elementary kids, it breaks my heart to see something like this happen. I can’t imagine what the families of all those affected by this tragedy are feeling. Just terrible

Nobody likes blowing a lead, but that only really matters if you lose. In fact, still pulling out the win shows grit and that is what contenders do. We could have just blown it and gotten swept. But winning in this fashion actually helps a team grow a lot more IMO.
I honestly think we win the next one because of it.

Pretty good break down of the series so far
He believes the warriors just simply mailed it in and Dallas continues to baffle him as to how they seem to fall apart vs a zone defense when it comes to executing. At around the 25 minute mark he breaks down why the Mavs 5 out offense doesn't vs the Warriors zone defense.
He also thinks the Mavs shooters in this series freeze up when the pressure is on.

We didn't blow the lead, they never got closer than 8 points, right? Then we got it back up to 13. Sure, we could have won by 45, but who cares? On to the next one, and hopefully not the last one.

Great result. I don't love all the 3s, but you have to be happy that our recipe worked. It's always about the "OTHERS", and they finally played up to their potential.
I'll be bringing back all the magic I can summons for game 5 and and beyond GDT!!
Let's win 2 on their floor.

I agree with you. While the meltdown did aggravate me, Kidd and the team should learn from it. It's not necessarily a bad thing for the team to experience that pucker factor of almost getting washed out due to slacking off. It's not something you want to do on purpose, but the lesson could serve them very well. If anything, they know that there is practically no safe lead against the Warriors. Bottom line - we won... NEXT!
