I mean I certainly feel like we're smarter...
-Letting Nash walk
-Letting 2011 team walk
-Plan powder/ screwed by DeAndre Jordan
-2020 Draft
-Brunson mishap
-issues with Donnie and the gambler
-sexual misconduct issues
....why are we giving this asshole a pass? Because Donnie drafted Dirk and drafted Luka? He has singlehandedly kept this franchise afloat for 20+ years with two amazing draft picks.
Cuban loves coming across as the smartest guy in the room, but he really has fucked a lot up. He's also all bluster when it comes to opening up his checkbook... in reality he's been a penny pincher with the one place it matters -- the roster.

Correct. The dumb random posters were pissed when they took Josh Green over local hero Desmond Bane. Cuban showed them what is up...

Fwiw, Bane wasnt exactly a local hero. I think maybe 2 of us would have taken him at 18.

One thing I like about Brunson is that he protects the ball and doesn't take stupid shots
When you play scrub teams a lot of teams they will end up beating themselves as long as you're not jacking up dumb shots and keeping them in the game with turnovers
That's the problem with Dallas they jack up tons of bad shots between Luka and THJ and then Luka will turn the ball over a lot at times being sloppy.
I mean it's irrelevant now since he's gone but dude really took care of the ball which is big IMO

Cuban's still more than satisfied from the title in 2011. He was a die hard Mavs fan who bought the team and got them to a title. I'd be pretty content about that, too. The problem is, that contentment has turned into complacency during a time when you have one of the best talents that the game will ever see.

The most damning stuff is Dragic IMO. The FO often just doesn't know what they are doing. Pretty simple.

This is the only one that is really damning, though. Pretty easy to call the Brunson episodes in hindsight, but not doing anything to address the key ability he brought was the worse move. Brunson wanted to be in NY, point blank period, he's getting to run his show now. And it's going bad.
But, not doing more to get Dragic or others linked here, such as DSJ, has proven to be a costly mistake so far in this young season. The Mavs need a 3rd ballhandler and now it's going to have to come via trade.

This is the story of the Mavs in the Luka era though. They NEVER seem to have a solid plan B.
The worst though was Cuban spouting bs like oh we have Frank Ntilikina. Like that's just stupidity at the highest level. The playoffs show us Frank was a 10 minute G/F defender. A good role for him. But don't make up some nonsense about him being the third guy when you're just too lazy and/or cheap to get someone better.
The plus side is they are still good at trades. Wood trade good. Dinwiddie trade good. We would be firmly in the lottery without those moves.

Kidd and Nico said this too. I'm sure they all sat around and justified that idea and not nust some bs Cuban came up with as word salad on his own.

the "NY will never be able to create space" is so laughable because we've been saying this for a decade that teams will create space when needed.
When its all laid out in one file, everything adds up to Cuban being a complete idiot, and cumulatively why they cant build a team around Luka.

Most of it could have been made up bullshit for all we know, too. It literally is "sources" who don't always bat .1000 and easily surmisable regardless.

Give me a break, you know what I meant. You've been around long enough to know if it's not Brunson, certain people love to bring up past drafts, and not keeping the 2011 team together, blah blah blah but then jack shit for solutions to improve the team NOW. But whatever.

It's MacMahon trumpeting his sources on Lowe's podcast. None of that comes off as speculative to you? That's your read and opinion then.

Mavs underestimated Brunson's value and he called them on it. I don't think it was salvageable at that point, but I'm really struggling to think of a team that fails to lock up its own guys the way the Mavs do.

OK, I'll play the solutions game. I'm all about how to utilize what we have.
Well we have what I believe to be a third guy sitting in the G league destroying it. And the comps all summer was Jordan Poole who got 22 mpg with the Warriors his rookie year. If they weren't planning on playing him, then why give up two future seconds to get him? Those aren't assets you should just be throwing away when you have so little young talent you're actually developing.
I mean, DFS and Bullock have basically been awful to start the season. I'd even say THJ has been better than Bullock which is not good. Playing a young hungry guy would take the edge off their backs, and it would be something fresh and new. And it sets you up for the future. Yes, it might cost you a few games, but the payoff is big.
But this idea that Hardy is just years away is a total waste IMO. 0 NBA minutes means 0 real development. I really hope the G league stuff is helping, but he needs to be on the court. We made that mistake with Green his rookie year, and that hurt his development IMO.

I?m not the owner but here?s the solution many of us said:
Pay Jalen whatever he wants. Because we knew what the alternative would be. And then after that we were also in the off season threads saying PLEASE GET GORAN. Mavs scoffed. Then we said screw it pair up DSJ, he?s improved AND he?s a ball handler. Front office is absolute morons.
Now? They have zero options. They let them all pass by. Obviously start Wood but Dallas is too stupid for that.
Regarding TM he has a respected career and works/worked for espn and respected in media circles. I don?t think it?s speculative of him, and he?s usually spot on with a bit of tongue in cheek embellishment. Fans don?t like him cause he doesn?t suck up to the organization.

Yup. I'm on board here too. I'd definitely be looking to get Hardy back up and playing a set amount of minutes by christmas time. Give him a cpl mkre weeks to keep working and building confidence. Green has worked himaelf into a spot in the rotation and Harsy also needs that chance. He has a more polished offensive tool set and just needs to bring the hustle that Green has and improve his D.

I'm all about giving Hardy every opportunity. No clue why he can't get some burn, especially when Wood was out and others banged up.
