Olivier-Maxence Prosper almost never made it here. Portland selected the player the Kings wanted so the Kings pivoted away to trade the pick.

I can't believe I'm back to checking here multiple times a day to see what moves the Mavs have made now. After all, its been years since I expected them to do anything...those hopes forever dashed in 2015, when we thought we had DeAndre Jordan, only to have his Clippers teammates play Lucy, while Cuban and company flailed away at the ball, yanked away before they could score with it.
Yet here I am, as hopeful as a Cubs fan the day before spring training starts. And I am shocked, considering I have yet to watch any of the last ten games recorded from League Pass last season. Just too disgusted.
I will watch the upcoming summer league games, and I will hope that this is the beginning of something. Please Mavs, don't let me down. Again. As usual.

Can?t help thinking we made our first real whiff with Paul Reed.
Testament to Nico that this is the first real mistake but probably negotiated while Portland was jerking us.

Yep, and the newbie insiders saying nobody wants THJ.
Powell starting baby!
Also, as has been stated, we can't add someone like Reed until we jettison one of our bigs.
Shoulda stretched Javale and then offered Reed instead of Thybuille.

Adrian Wojnarowski: The Atlanta Hawks are trading TyTy Washington, Usman Garuba, Rudy Gay and a second-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Patty Mills, sources tell ESPN. Hawks save $4.5M in the deal. ? via Twitter wojespn
Damn Patty has been traded like 3 times this offseason hasn?t he?

Paul Reed was fantastic as a backup and spot starter. There is a huge difference to being that and a serious rotation player. I personally don't think he's ready for a bigger role.

I think he's a damn good player. He would fill in and give good minutes. To me him and Naz Reid are sort of underrated big men off the bench who I think can start in this league.

Yeah and he's going to the Jazz where they have Kessler so yeah probably going to have the same role there. I feel like he's better than anyone we have at the 5 right now...

He is, but I understand why people have to talk themselves into what we have at center every offseason.

I saw a few Philly games not necessarily for Reed but Doc Rivers handled his rotations weird. He would not play Reed. And when Embid was out for some reason he?d also play him at times and wouldn?t regardless of him being productive. He?s not a lack of effort type of guy. Seems like a fan favorite in Philly.

Paul Reed has the same problem as a guy like Nerlens Noel or even Tyler Bey. He?s a 5 in a 4?s body without a clearly defined offensive skill set. So he can?t pick and roll or pick and pop on offense and can?t guard bigger 5s on defense. I?m OK missing out on him, I don?t think he plays major minutes wherever he goes.

He?s not playing major minutes behind Embid or Kessler. He should and would hear though.
He brings toughness and defense. Sure I?d love to get someone with more offense but I?m not seeing that available in free agency?.

Reed just seems nice to me, not by any means the difference between a good and bad rotation of centers. Adding Reed does nothing for my expectations of how the team does next year. And I'd rather Lively get any mins possible from the bench even if Reed was here. I want a starting center personally not another guy to throw into a platoon, and we can only get that in a trade.

I don?t see the Mavs trading thj, but they have to do something at the center position. Be great if they could get off McGee contract too

Stein stays we are still trying desperately to trade THJ and McGee and that we'll waive McGee if he's not traded.
Stein also says that we are not interested in anyone left for the MLE. Looking at this list I tend to agree. https://hoopswire.com/2023-nba-free-agents/
My guess is that we'll move Curry up to the MLE so we have both the MLE and BAE next year. If a trade is going to happen, it will be the fallout of a Harden/Lillard trade. If it wasn't involved with that, it would have happened by now.

I should clarify, I don?t think they?ll get the package they want for thj.
Be interesting to see if they get involved with lillard or harde. but for centers, what I don?t want is just another guy to throw in with the other 4 on the roster. It needs to be a starting caliber center, or just stay with what we have.

I?m trying to be realistic about the disturbing?.I think signing a bunch of solid role players with toughness will improve this team. We don?t need shooters or stars IMO.

Well if we're serious about moving Tim and don't keep Wood, then we also need a scoring void to fill. Hardy can't cover for both.
Hopefully they give another thought on PJ Washington. The fit is there with him.

Apparently the Hornets want a good player and a 1st. CBAMavs thinks it would be THJ, Green and a 1st. I don't want him that bad.

I'd only trade 27 for a center. PJ would make an excellent small ball center but that's not worth a first round pick.

Maxi is the best center on the team until Lively develops. I'd pay a 1st round pick for a forward like PJ. THJ is a good player if they want some scoring and floor spacing. PJ not first choice but others the would be preferable may not be available such as:
Bey- ATL
Stewart - Det
Hunter - ATL
Achiuwa - Tor
All headed for RFA in 24 except Hunter who already has deal which is probably similar to what PJ lands.
Also think there a few players that still have a lot of potential that could be had cheaply like Langford and Bazley. Both are UFA's. Bazley is 6'9" athletic and defends. Romeo also defends very well. Other than Frank N. having nagging injuries that seem to forever to get over, I'd bring him back. When he gets in sync and plays consistent role, he can be solid.
It might be best to get a player such as this then wait until Dec. 15th to see who winds up on market from recently signed players such a J. Grant or Kyle Kuzma or Mile Bridges if PJ stays in Charlotte. Those 2 teams seem at the top of the in the tank list. OKC has like 21 players on their roster.

Ditto. Under the new CBA, picks are going to be more valuable than ever. I'm not trading a pick unless it's for a very significant upgrade at a position of serious need. If we're trading a FRP, it better be for something that makes us legit contenders- i.e. a quality big who can both defend and rebound.

"Since he last was a Maverick three seasons ago, Curry has hit exactly half of his corner 3-point attempts. He can also run the offense when needed."

I'm seeing these Siakam to Atlanta rumors. Dalton's idea to get Capela is actually pretty legit.

You won't hear me complain again if we get Capela, Allen, or Zubac. If we fix rebounding, then we could be a top 4 team.
I do think there is some smoke with moving Siakam, but to where, I don't believe anyone fully knows yet.

This.
Plus I think Capela might be the perfect fit because
1) he does what we need him to do (hard picks, rebounding, anchoring defense) so we can compete this year
2) he's a vet who can show Lively around. Powell has the attitude. Chandler can answer questions and mentor. Capela can show him on the court and in real-time.
3) only has a two-year contract which should fit Lively's development perfectly. In two years if we want him back, we move Lively to starter and maybe resign Capela to a smaller deal
Other perfect guys who more or less have the same situation: Drummond, Allen (younger but AMAZING attitude), Lopez (not available), Gobert (probably not available but fits the mold of the aging defensive vet)
Guys who I DON'T want AKA don't fit that niche: Ayton (ego, still making his name), Vucevic (offense-first center, terrible defense, not a good role model for Lively), Nurkic (same)

As much as I like PJ, I think I'm with you. Washington/Williams could be a nice 3/4 forward combo who can occasionally play 4/5 when we go small (although he's only 6'7"), but it's a 2K move more than a realistic one.
1) FRP - picks have gained value and we just opened up 2030 which we traded (well, swapped). 2027 is the last pick we can trade right now.
2) He's probably looking for 18-20 mill a year. That money would be better spent on him vs. THJ, but it's still a lot for a guy who plays the same position as Williams, Green, and OMax
