Choking this one
Outscored by 8 in 4 min
11-3 run ain?t gonna get it done. That?s on Kidd. A good coach closes it out.!

Up 6 with 4:20 left
We allowed a 13-3 run to close it
Cuban and Adelson need to fire Kidd tomorrow

15-3 to end the game and the only guy to score was Lawson
Would have been better just to blow the game than to retake the lead and choke again

Yikes, but at least D Lively is the real deal. Need a backup center and defensive wing like yesterday.

Give me AJ Lawson btw. I only watched the last 5 minutes but hustle and LENGTH go a long way in the league.

Problem is we don't need more scoring. That's why Hardy doesn't play.
Don't get me wrong. I like Lawson a lot, but he doesn't really fill a need unless he starts locking down and rebounds.

Positives:
Luka was a capable defender in the 4th. Part of him trusting his teammates, is not saving energy for offense and bringing effort in D at that level consistently.
Lively is good, man. He and Luka got us back in this game. Cant ask for more out of a center.
Lawson, OMax got meaningful minutes.
Mavs record for scoring streak.
Negatives:
We lost after that record breaking comeback. Oof. We wore out and werent able to scramble.after that timeout OKC took late.
Our defense is bad, but the highlight is again, we can NOT stop extended runs. Its ok to give up a cpl buckets, but you cant let them have numerous 10-12 point runs.
Seth helped shoot us into the game but he too 3 terrible shots doen the stretxh.
DJJ gave that in bound ball away. Who ever drew that dumbass play up should scrap it, immediately.
Kidd is an assistant coach at best at this stage in his career. Get him up outta here.
He randomly puts DP bacl in and DP immediately gets a moving screen. Why was Holmes not back in?
We HAVE to make a cpl trades. We HAVE to. Someone posted we were on pace for 53 wins lol. Yea fn right.

I like the potential of what Lawson brings. He has the hustle, athleticism of Green and Powell but has some skills that can be developed. He plays with a lot more confidence than Green.
I'm not saying to throw him into Green's role right now, but I think he makes Green expendable for a veteran player and Lawson can eventually developed into something that we can use.
And Lively is just about as important to this team as Luka if he keeps this up. He might actually become the saving grace to keep Luka in Dallas.

Agree...the guy has decent potential imo, and he might have just played himself into some opportunities.
Funny, we made the biggest run in Mavs history with 2 G-Leaguers on the floor most of the run.

That defense in the 4th quarter was really fn good. Luka and Lively just ran out of steam. We were so far behind that they couldn't be taken out for any rest. Its a shame that we blew that late lead. Hopefully Luka can reproduce that effort more often.
Green, Hardy, Grant, Maxi, Dp, THJ are expendable at this point. We could get better fitting pieces we need by packaging some of those dudes.

As far as highlights, it eill be nice to have at least a handful of highlight games from our center position each season. Dwight Powells 15p/6reb/1blk/ 3 face smacks once a uear isnt cutting it.

I hope that 30-0 run woke the team up from here out. They played totally differently.
And it pains me to say that Kidd is at least willing to play the younger guys. Omax had some good defense in that game.
But his system is broken. Not sure what he is gonna do to fix it.

I'm impressed with his strength and BBIQ...thought those would be his weaknesses. I'm not so sure he couldnt develop into a PF some day if he develops more offensive skills.

Going into this season, I thought he was still 1-2 years out so we needed a starting C.
Now that he is so good, I think we need 1) A backup C, 2) A starting PF

Yep...we need another Haywood or Mihinmi.
What about Jerami Grant for starting PF?

I just thought no way he was going to be available at 10, I was so happy we got him. However I did think it would take til season 2, because I didnt think hed stay on the floor due to foul trouble.

Portland would be so willing. They know they blew it with the salary. 5/160 is nuts for a B/C-list player and they would like to get rid of it so bad that I half wonder if they'd do THJ+Kleber or THJ+Green+Powell for just the salary dump.
Then again, he has that awful 5/160 contract for a guy who is a fairly mediocre rebounder and defender. Sure, he can put up 22ppg on decent shooting, but 3.8rpg is amongst the worst in the entire NBA from a frontcourt spot.He is a lot like Wood with higher BBIQ and we all know how Wood worked out-- not imagine having him on a 5/160 contract.
My vote would be to target defense/rebounding-- in that way, DFS is kind of perfect as a junk yard dog who can rebound. He doesn't need the ball, but he shoot the three when open. When not shooting, he hustles, rebounds, and defends.

Strangely I think Kuzma may be a good fit. His man's FG% is pretty decent despite Washington being terrible defensively and his rebounding% is better than anyone we have not named Luka or Lively.

More FN offense, is What Kidd is going to do to fix the Defense.

Green now out for a few weeks
We went from fully healthy to down a squad.
Tomorrow we?re down Green and Kleber. Possibly Williams, Kyrie, and THJ too

Didn't he have this same injury last season? Bruised Elbow? Such a weird injury.

I'm only for a DFS reunion if no 1st rounder is involved. He's not worth that.
Kuzma would likely require a 1st be included. Still wish the Hawks would be interested in trading Capela. Think he would crush it here.

Capela would crush but he would be starter/closer most likely. 24mpg so they could split minutes 50/50
DFS isnt worth any first round picks imo, not at this stage, and how important picks will be in the future.
