i'm not going to go too far in depth with this..just wanting to show who's making quality starts and who's not..

Thomson: 2 quality, 1 not
Valdes: 3 quality, 1 not
Lewis: 2 quality, 1 not
Park: 1 quality, 2 not
Drese: 1 not

A quality start is basically throwing 6 innings or more with an ERA 4.50 or lower

8 quality starts, 6 poor starts

The thing that is most encouraging is that Thomson, Valdes, and Lewis all have top quality major league "stuff".

All three have the ability to dominate when they are on. When's the last time you could say that about three rangers' starters?

If Park can just be a good number 4 guy, maybe we can get Davis to be a serviceable #5. That rotation has potential.

by no means will it be a dominant rotation..but, it can turn into a serviceable rotation that can get the rangers up around the .500 mark

the Rangers do need to get another young arm in the rotation..whether it's benoit or davis.

drese or dreese has no business being in the rotation..he's not part of the future..

If I am the Rangers, I bring in a structural engineer and ask him if there is any way to stop that wind tunnel that forms over the field.

I remember when it was built, people thought the ballpark would be a pitchers' park. But then they added that Gold Club at the last minute and created a damn vortex into the friggin' outfield.

Maybe Park is getting back to his old dodger self. He has improved every start this year and should be good enough to be a solid 3 in most rotations.

hopefully, jayc

I'm thoroughly impressed with thomson's stuff so far this season..as with the cobra.

but thomson has been making pitches exactly where he has wanted them the past couple of starts. he has great stuff..very exciting to watchin him pitch

It would be nice if the rangers didn't give up on Loaiza too soon.
ESPN Fantasy:
If Esteban Loaiza ran a marathon, it's pretty clear he'd have the lead after the first half mile. History also suggests he'd need to pull a Rosie Ruiz to win. After Thursday domination, 11 strikeouts in six innings, Loaiza has three wins and a 1.31 ERA . Deja vu? Loaiza was 3-1 with a 2.50 ERA in his first four starts last season, and 4-1 with a 2.77 ERA at the start of 2001. Just don't forget he was 13-19 with an ERA above 5.00 the rest of the time.
Maybe this pitcher wasn't nearly as bad as norm had said it would be the worst pitching staff in major league history. Then again Randy Galloway said the samething. If we just get 4.70 ERA stuff we can win 95 games with this lineup. The rangers have already hit 30 homeruns.

MADDUX first two years 5.52 and 5.61 ERA
Pitchers sometimes take time maybe Loiaza has found his niche. And for the rangers pitching staff they all have a big bag except for Lewis. Loiaza might be coming into his own.
